So Cultic is getting ep 1 soon. Was any word given on the second ep? Hopefully not an entire year or more away. I'm sure Ep1 will be good but I'd rather wait for a finished game. Or at least, as close to finished as you get in this genre.

Well that's nice. Maybe I'll pick up Ep1 on release then. I don't really know where to keep up with that dev but that sounds like good, straightforward communication. That goes a long way in this genre full of inept indies larping as professionals while keeping as much info off of the table as they can to keep from having actual deadlines and expectations.

The Chasm remaster is due out soon. Played the demo and the original side-by-side, and it's fine. It's a bit awkward that bullets don't seem to have feedback on crates anymore. No smoke trails or hitspark appear on the impact. Seems like a small and easy fix. For all of the QoL offered, this is a welcome remaster.
They absolutely must include the expansion levels though, without it this is one of the shortest retro shooters out there (Can be cleared in about 2 hours with only minor secret hunting.)
It's a good effort for an alright game that had no functioning sourceport. No clue what they want to charge for this but it shouldn't run for much. Recommend.

Looks like shit once you actually start playing the game.

        Anonymous

I'll clarify that Panzerchasm works and is a "functioning" sourceport by the loosest applicable definition. It feels good at first but many enemy projectiles don't work properly and screw up the entire game balance, triggers and flags bug out, sometimes keys don't register as being picked up (yet they still disappear from the map) and at least one level cannot be cleared at all, as the switches do not function.

        Don't play with Panzerchasm.

      Anonymous

Really pretty, tightly packed levels that are fun to explore for secrets. Ammo management is non-existent, the game shovels ammo your way until the later levels just have ammo regen pads in every room. Weapons are fun, fights are serviceable, but toothless, 1/3 of the enemies are slowass melee zombies that will never ever hit you, 1/3 are turrets, and the last third are active and threatening. The respawn system is fricking moronic, and sucks the fun out when the encounters decide to have some bite.

        Anonymous

I died a grand total of 1 time and it was by my own hand with a rocket blast. Prodeus is a well made, pretty, and mechanically functional game that seemingly kills it’s own difficulty. Its checkpoint system not respawning enemies as well and the fact that all the harder enemies or combinations of enemies don’t start appearing until the penultimate levels is sad. Just as things got rough….the game ends.

It’s so disappointing, but at the very least the community levels are where you can find some real bite the game needed.

Death is completely meaningless. You just go back 20 feet to the last checkpoint.

In fact, sometimes just killing yourself is better cus you'll get full health again. Getting throwing into an arena boss battle means nothing cus of you die you just respawn. There's literally no punishment.

The only difficulty really is self imposing a one life rule on yourself to get the "no kill_ emblem when finishing a level.

Basically if you don't 100% no death emblem every level then you "didnt beat the game"

          Anonymous

it's a real pity too because reviewers have said the overall game is solid. i would honestly be fine with just doing some personal restrictions for the challenge, but the fact that the devs haven't even addressed this blatant problem is insulting. i'm not gonna support stupid shit like that.

            >earlier today he posted a video called Fallout Bakersfield here

            https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FMjJM9HAqqk

            >turns out it's not another mockup of what Fallout would look like in an FPS and the video was made in GZDoom, a very popular and open ended source port of Doom that has thousands of mods for it, even some of the most popular boomer shooters are powered by GZDoom
It looks like it's going to be a project that aims to actually bring the guy's concepts into an actual project. It doesn't look like it's going to recreate the entire game but certainly looks to recreate the Necropolis area of the game.

Long story short, dude has made wienertease clips for ages that give people hardons for an FPS classic Fallout, dude has now made another video that turns out to actually be a real playable version of his concepts. Who knows when it'll come out and how big it will be.

Only the axe (starting weapon) is melee, the rest of the weapons only look like melee weapons but are actually magical firearms. Morningstar fires a spread of shards which pierce enemies to walls, trident is a full auto lightning gun, scimitar sends energy slashes which can bisect enemies etc.

              >dusk looks like a spooky game and that's cool
Dusk can go from funny to spooky in an instant, some great atmospheric setpieces there.

I love automatic weapons, there's just something about spraying your enemy (or group of enemies) with a lead-spitter, hearing that ratatatata or, even better, BRRRT, seeing them stumble in pain, bleed and die eventually that makes it fun for me. I know most people are all about muh shotguns, but what are some of your favorite boomshoot automatics?

Picrelated is one of mine, I don't think Quake 2 is that great, but CG deserved a better game to be stuck in. When it revs up to its full speed, it just chunks everything.

Doom 2016's turret mode chain gun is so satisfying
      Three spinning barrels at once

        Anonymous

I don't really like when Gatling guns have multiple barrel clusters. This is just my autism, but a 6-barreled Gatling style machinegun can easily fire at 4000-6000 RPM, that's 666-1000 RPM through each individual barrel and bolt assembly. None of the Galtings in games are even close to reaching those RPMs. It just looks too busy, so I used Gatling Rotator in 2016 (even though it's objectively inferior) and Shield in Eternal (which is objectively superior). As a result, I liked and used Eternal's minigun way more (especially since it doesn't have the STUPID wind-up time).

Also I don't think D2016/DE truly counts as boomshoots (which isn't a comment about their quality).

        Posting another favorite of mine.

Sorry, just spregged out a bit.

SoF1 had fantastic feeling automatics due to how enemies reacted to being shot. They wouldn't drop as long as you held the trigger with smaller once, so you could make them dance as long as you had bullets in the mag. Later you get a machingun which just rips enemies apart limb by limb.

Also comes with an underbarrel white phosphorus grenade launcher.

I'll try it. Sounds like I should wait for the October update before getting too far in though. Dunno how I haven't heard of this one before now.

I still have no idea if I should be switching up the characters or just sticking to one for a playthrough.

    Phantom Fury Steam FAQ

    >Is this a direct sequel?
Phantom Fury is not a direct sequel to Ion Fury, however, both games share the same universe. Phantom Fury takes place many years after Shelly’s fight against Jadus Heskel, where she awakes in a new world, pulled out of a coma at the behest of an old colleague.
    >Is the development of Phantom Fury going to affect the release of Ion Fury: Aftershock?
No, it will not. Phantom Fury is a project developed by Slipgate Ironworks while Ion Fury and Ion Fury: Aftershock are developed by Voidpoint. Two different, independent studios working on each game.
    >How long is the game going to be?
The core campaign is going to be around 8+ hours. With that being said, if you explore the game’s world and the countless options for upgrades and modifications, playtime will be longer.
    >How many levels and different locations will the game include?
Shelly’s journey will take you through 15+ levels, divided into a variety of different locations, such as Albuquerque, the Grand Canyon and the streets of Chicago.
    >Is Colonel John Blade from SiN going to be in Phantom Fury?
While this is first and foremost Shelly’s adventure, don’t be surprised if Colonel Blade stops by during her journey to lend a hand.
    >Are you planning to release the game in Early Access?
There are no plans for releasing the game in Early Access. We are aiming to have Phantom Fury ready for launch on all platforms at the same time.
    >When is the game coming out?
The current plan is to release Phantom Fury on all platforms in 2023. Once we are ready to announce an exact release date, we’ll inform everyone through Steam News, our social media and Discord communities.
    >What is the game engine that is used to develop the game?
The game is developed in Unreal Engine 4 featuring a retro visual style, while employing several modern features and characteristics as well.

      >There are no plans for releasing the game in Early Access.
That's bullshit but I want to believe it. I'm getting increasingly exasperated by how long shit takes in Early Access now.
