Yeah I always use console here.

MegaMan Zero series is also a good example, I have no other example
Geneforge games final bosses if you spent all your points in diplomacy and stealth
>game called 'geneforge'
>people exist that didnt put points in gene forging.
but why..
>Game called "Bioshock
>Don't use Electrobolt.
Anons...
Not true, in pretty much every entry there's a way to btfo the boss without fighting him (IE tricking them into using the GF with fake gloves, overcharging lab equipment to kill them instead of power them up, etc)
I pretty much always play battlemage, buffing yourself into a rape-machine > army of ugly pokemon
I prefer to play either a guardian with sometimes 1 creation, or an agent especialized in charm or control foe or whatever that was called, that's always fun
I stopped playing Bravely Default because the later bosses were intended for certain builds which throws away the appeal of building your party.
If you don't make a team that can survive the boss's attacks and kill it before it wears you down, then you didn't create a viable build for your party.
>have an rpg
>have systems that allow for creative builds
>only allow x amount of builds to be viable
Why do RPG fags defend such shitty gameplay design?
Don't bring a knife to a gun fight.
then gimme some way to respec my knife into a gun
seriously, games with "builds" should have a way to completely respec your character. specially if a certain build is not viable in some parts of the game or if you can fuck up your build by choosing poorly
maybe and you can disagree here, you shouldn't have built wrong gay. if you were good you'd find a way.
You can use your stupid builds in all the random combat you want, but it would be stupid for them to purposely make the later game fights weaker so that your "fun" build can defeat them.
It's not about making bosses weaker. It's about having multiple ways to beat the boss. This requires creativity from the devs though, so I guess everyone should roll a minmax build.
FF5 is the best JRPG ever for Job systems, and that game will chew you out if you can’t make at least a reasonable combination
>that game will chew you out if you can’t make at least a reasonable combination
How the fuck do you pull that off, most of the jobs are very viable and there are few actual trap jobs and even then they have some utility. Hell even if you do fuck up Samurai and gil toss will get you through pretty much every boss
I played Bravely Default back before I knew to make specific builds (I just used whatever was the most leveled for my party), and I never struggled. Of course, you get a monk and a white mage early on, so I feel like they were gingerly pushing you in the right direction, but still.
I don't remember the game being super difficult outside the boss gauntlet on the final loop, albeit that one's meant to be a bit of a fucker since it's taking all the OP job combos you may have stumbled across on your own and throwing them right back at you.
Maybe not leveling per se but in Super Metroid you can brick your save at the final boss if you skip charge beam (the game never checks if you have it) and don't pick up enough missiles
Devil Survivor 1 was pretty much impossible in general if you built wrong.
>built phys based
>got to beezle
>LOL REFL PARASITE
Devil Survivor 1 was so fucking damn good holy shit
World of STR is still very viable but the issue is you end up cucking every other STR character out the abilities they need to preform while there are more than enough mage skills to go around. Considering you are stuck with a STR based character for the vast majority you are pretty much forced to drag around dead weight if you do that build
Just use some demons to carry you.
It's melee that makes her near impossible, not guns
>Near impossible
I was doing a punch run and I literally could not do anything against her at all. It was genuinly impossible to beat her, so I had to cheat.
>he didn't take the flamethrower
sorry buddy, looks like you get to suffer for hours
vtmb is a shit rpg. Everything past Santa Monica is just bad.
The second half of it is, and it's clear why. It becomes way more combat-focused which funnels everyone into combat builds even if they wanted to be stealthy and charismatic up until then.
Nothing wrong with that, it's a game and not a VN
The problem is just that the combat is trash
>Nothing wrong with that
Yes, yes there is. Don't give the illusion of build choice if you're going to wall off progress near the end.
moron the game has unavoidable fights and even bosses starting in Santa Monica. It's very clear about the fact that you're going to need at least some combat skill
Multiple characters even tell you that you're not going to be able to talk your way out of every situation, and when you're in a world full of terrifying monsters you should always prep yourself for combat. You're a dumbass for trying to be a saint in a world where saints don't survive.
You are an idiot. Hotel level near the end with multiple floors filled with enemies absolutely ignore stealth build, some magic builds and mind control build. That's called shit game.
Hotel level? What are you talking about, the downtown hotel filled with Russians? You absolutely can stealth that, you're just bad. If you're truly doing a stealth build, you have Obfuscate, fucking use it.
Hes talking about the sabbat shithole
Oooh yeah, that. Still not even that bad. If you actually play the side missions you'll have enough EXP to throw enough in combat while still maining stealth. No excuse.
>If you actually play the side missions you'll have enough EXP to throw enough in combat while still maining stealth.
You are an idiot alright. Stealth IS combat. You spend points in stealth and social. Not stealth and guns. That's how it should work in normal game
>Stealth IS combat.
Stealth is staying hidden. Combat is combat. The only "stealth" combat is auto killing an NPC when you sneak behind them, it has no actual effect on your damage output. Combat is inevitable in World of Darkness as a whole and if you go in not expecting to throw hands even after the game explicitly tells you, you should make like a fledgling and have a nice day.
>killing enemies isn't combat
We did it, Reddit!
>killing enemies isn't combat
yes. clicking a button to autokill an enemy is not combat. Fighting an enemy head-on is combat. Are you dense?
>combat is my own personal definition, are you a dummy dum dum?
where is the fighting in your stealth """combat"""
>get stabbed in the back in a war
>"not killed in combat!"
K to the E to the K
>get stabbed irl in war
>comparing to a literal mouse click auto-kill
k
>if you use a mouse it's not combat if you stab someone!
Your definition just keeps getting more layers lmao
Is it combat if it's between 5-7pm on a Friday? What if it's raining?
My definition has stayed exactly the same you retard. Stealth killing an enemy isn't combat in-game, actual fighting is. In the context of the game itself, sneaking has nothing to do with your actual combat skills, they're split between each other. You're told explicitly to put points in combat because, no matter what, you're going to have to fight at some point.
>Stealth killing an enemy isn't combat in-game
Yes it is. Didn't read any further because there was no need.
take your (you) and shut the fuck up
Concession HEARTILY accepted.
>Kaem bat
What the fuck? It's Köm-bath
No game except vr boxing games meets your requirements, brainlet
Hallowbrook Hotel, did you even played the game?
I never register the sabbat hideout as a hotel. I register it for what it is, a shithole.
>let you use stealth and charisma most of the game
>turn the game into a combat-based slog the rest of the time
Stop defending trash.
The tutorial tells you straight up there will be times you’ll meet enemies that can’t be reasoned with, there are multiple bosses and dozens of combat encounters even if you’re trying to max persuade/stealth. If you didn’t get the hint at that point that putting some points into combat is a must that’s on you not the game
The game put a retard filterm just one that is at the end of the game which is unusual (but based).
As another anon pointed out, the game tells you several times to invest in combat. Those that didn't spec into it are punished. The game also tells you several times not to open it yet half of the retarded players did.
>limiting your options is based
Nope. And you can still have put some points into dps that allowed you to make it all the way to the end, the game shouldn't have put a wall keeping out anyone who didn't go all-in on damage.
You don't need to go all in on damage, half of the points into combat is perfectly enough. By that time you already had to go through the sewers and the late game combat sections. It should be clear as day you wont talk or sneak your way out of the decisive fights like you could in the comparatively peaceful early game.
Besides even a bad build can complete 97% of the game. You're basically walled off an end game cutscene.
Let me guess, you opened it on first playthrough?
>Let me guess
I don't read "Let me guess" posts. Try again.
>he opened it
>have no intentions of opening it
>get to the end of the game
>fuck it
>opens it
it was a fucking trip that i was all for
System Shock 2 I got softlocked fighting Shodan since I used Psi build and never specc'd into Hacking. You can't win if you do this unless you save some autohack devices for her, but there are only 4 of them in the game, which is exactly as many as you need to get through all the mandatory hacking bits and of course you don't know this beforehand
Dante's inferno if you didn't level any crucifix shit
My flamethrower I spent ages to get does absolutely nothing here. I think it's a framerate bug or something? Anybody know how to fix it? I could just cheat but given the time I spent getting the flamethrower I'd ideally like to use it.
>Flamethrower
>Against a slimy squid creature
The flamethrower is an anti-vampire weapon, moron. Vampires are weak to fire.
The chinksquid is weak to bullets and based tremere magic
No, in the original the flamethrower is meant to take out a huge chunk of health.
I think the unnoficial patch might have changed that, but the flamethrower still one-shots her clones
Not impossible but Elden Beast was fucking tedious as a faith build.
Is he just immune to all faith weapons and spells?
Immune enough to faith spells to make them not worth it. It's a loooong war of attrition where you can use the faith damage shielding miracle, but you do pitiful damage against it so you're doing fuck all each time you catch up with it.
faith has like 5 different damage types and the last boss is 80% resistant to one of them so caster bros lose their minds.
80% resistant to holy but 40% to fire, magic, and lightning. Since there it gets wet in the water it should be 50% resistant to fire but only 30% resistant to lightning. Throw some long range lightning bolts.
>maxed out all of my ammo before this missions
>used all of it up by the time she was at 1/8th health and spend 20 minutes melee spamming the last chunk to win
Forget her - remember the godawful slog that was the ching chong compound?
And then an even worse slog at the Ventrue tower?
Jesus FUCK.
The Kuei Jin one is a little mind-numbing with the statue fetching and the barred doors but the tower mixed it up enough to keep being entertaining
Deus ex human rev is possible but annoying without hacking. I tried to pkay the game without levelling hacking at all, i dont think the devs thought thered be a idiot like me lol
the fucking bitch with the electric floor was impossible for me without the electricity immunity augment but thankfully I had a savefile not too far from the boss fight where I still had enough points for it
Bro pretty much everything just dies to typhoons or rockets. The boss fights in that game were jokes. Were you just completely out of ammo or something?
I was playing on give me deus ex and was on a stealth pacifist playthrough so I didn't have any cheese weapons like rockets
All the more reason to carry a few rockets for bosses.
I didn’t even know that fight had an electric floor because every time I fight her I just beeline up to the top of the room and with even just a kitted-out pistol you can drop her before she lands a hit
>First run
>Playing melee focused Brujah
>After some infuriating attempts find a good loop where I can just circle strafe and attack
>Second run
>Guns and magic focused
>Obliterate her with ease
CLASSIC
Haha, boy I hope you didn't only have a single save file and saved after the first part of that battle sequence.
I did and i was cucked out from the bonus dungeon
There's always the option to cheese with Ramza's yell, so it's not a complete unwinnable battle that people like to believe.
boy looking like Fry when he had his nose stolen
ToV final boss, I missed most optional quests and didn't farm anything, but I somehow unlocked the "ultimate turbo ass-rape mega final form" with 30 more levels than my characters. I dropped the game.
Kek I remember unlocking that fucker too. Except I thought I was prepared..
I was not.
this happened to me in star ocean 2. i tried to do every private action
somehow i unlocked indalecio. i had to spend like 10 hours grinding the arena survival to even have a chance.
>build however you want
>get to this cunt
>just press protean
sorry toreador, this isnt sissy territory
goyslop
I made a melee rogue character and levelled up to like 30 or so. I can't remember specifically. I decide to start doing the main quest, and got to some early named dragon. He was at his max scalable level. You can't sneak up on him to backstab. You can't do enough damage to his face. Ganker told me to kite him to the city and have the guards kill him, but he just killed all the fucking guards. There was literally no way for my character to make it past that dragon. Haven't played skyrim since then.
imagine being filtered by fucking SKYRIM of all things
I can beat early named dragons on complete meme builds. Like naked wizards or gay archer (you can only shoot people from behind). How'd you get walled by em?
Also
> Ganker told me to kite him to the city and have the guards kill him, but he just killed all the fucking guards.
That's fucking hilarious.
If you're already a rogue you're halfway to being the most overpowered 'class' in skyrim, which is the inevitable stealth archer.
Go level archery.
>melee character
>doesnt at least max smithing
>filtered by retard-proof children's game that holds you by the hand
the shit i see on Ganker still manages to surprise me
People will hate you a lot for this but the enemies become HP sponges and hit like trucks at higher levels so I believe you.
That being said, you can always just go level up some more.
How shit was your gear that you couldn't just hit it to death?
get the stealth plerk that lets you go invisible briefly when crouching and spam crouch until you land a dual dagger x30 dmg sneak attack ez pz
>stealth melee
Why? Stealth archer is OP is fuck.
God I just remembered that the Chinatown part sucked ass. I was thinking about replaying VTMB but now I'm debating on it
The boss is only hard if you build something stupid like a social butterfly character purely around persuasion. If you have some firearms or melee it's a non-issue.
It's really not; you do practically no damage with melee and even using guns she's the mother of all bullet sponges, the arena is tiny, she has a nearly undodgeable tentacle attack and is constantly spawning clones
Very likely you actually have to use your blood packs here where they absolutely not needed in the rest of the game.
He's talking about the Hallowbrook Hotel, which you could potentially stealth if not for the fact that they put enemies directly inside doorways so you either have to kill them or alert them. It's retarded
BUNKR with melee Zero, but then you respec to sniper and one shot it.
System Shock 2 literally softlocks you at the end unless you specc'd a certain way
I don't know how the devs overlooked that
You can use the implants or the ICE pick
Game is inarguably bugged, unbalanced garbage of a mess.
Still one of my favorite games of all times.
Gaming why can't you make immersive games anymore.
Arx fatalis and if you dare to go stealth
Defenders of shit design getting BTFO'd ITT. You LOVE to see it.
I've played through VTMB with every vampire type and every character archetype you can think of and never once did I get filtered by this boss, even on a completely unpatched copy on my shitty PC that could barely run the game when I was like 14.
Is this a zoomer thing? Do you all suck at video games now?
>use up all of your ammo and abilities
>barely damages her
>"you're bad at games!"
Nah.
>Nah.
yah.
>if you were better at games, you'd.. like.. shoot harder! it's not just a stat thing!
genuine skill issue. just don't get hit.
>just don't get hit and shoot her with your empty guns!
or use your melee weapon/hands with infinite ammo. it's source engine, it's not that hard to dodge things lmao
>just use your melee that you haven't needed to put any points into all game so they do no damage! it's skill!!
actually thinking about it, how the fuck do you run out of ammo in this game? it's fucking everywhere, you really are just genuinely bad holy shit. i never once ran out of ammo in the game.
>just get more ammo in a boss arena with no ammo, bro!
get more ammo before you go onto the obvious end mission, bro. genuine skill issue.
>S-SKILL ISSUE!! SKILLL!!!!! IT'S SKILLLL IT'S NOT STATS IT'S SKIIIIIIIIIIILLLLLLL
it really isn't stats. don't know what else you want me to say man ¯_(ツ)_/¯
>IT'S NOT STATS!!
>I KNOW I HAVEN"T PROVEN ANYTHING BUT TRUST ME BRO
>I HAVE SKIIIIIIIIIIIILLLLLLLLLL
don't need to prove it, you just suck at the game
>UR BAD BECAUSE... UR BAD!!!
Not too hard to run out of ammo for Jaime Sue; it can only carry 25 bullets max and very few enemies use it, so you rarely get more ammo in levels
I don't think any enemies at all use the SPAS-XV, Lasister Killmatic or the flamethrower, but at least the former can carry like 176 shells. You can easily spend half of that on Ming Xiao alone though
They dont play games. They all watch the same algorithm-based youtubes and come here to have elaborate shitposty conversations about games they never played.
I'm glad you're here to support your boyfriend.
vanilla Human Revolution
Not a boss but this was bullshit if you were avoiding leveling in order to max out Jedi levels.
>if you were avoiding leveling in order to max out Jedi levels
No one would do that without meta knowledge. Clearly not the intended experience.
I mean you are deliberately making the game harder for yourself and play in a way not intended by the devs, so it's only natural to get stuck. If anything I'm surprised how easy Kotor was even without leveling.
Grenades make this fight very doable btw
Their boss saved my life. He has earned my trust by doing so. Simple as.
>Their boss saved my life.
Yeah but that would just mean I'd view Nines as a friend. Still fucking retarded to not keep this vampire shit under strict control.
I guess it's just because I view this from a more human perspective then because I just think it's completely fucking retarded to allow the group that has no real rules or structure to just run rampant with innocent people around.
I mean the Camarilla isn't a bad option if there's a shit ton of kindred in a city, but with how little the population is in Downtown and Santa Monica, there's no real need for a set rule structure. Makes more sense in somewhere like Hollywood, though, where there's a higher number of vamps and a lot more people out and about. There's a reason Lacroix took over downtown so easily, no one wanted it lol.
keep going
>CHECK OUT MY EPIC COMBAT SKILLS!
he do be pretty skilled with that nunchaku i ain't gonna lie
>avoiding leveling in order to max out Jedi levels.
how the hell does that work??
Every level up you get Jedi abilities, but only after becoming a Jedi.
If you save your XP without leveling until you become a Jedi you get a whole bunch of Jedi Skills all at once.
ohhh never thought about that. interesting.
I still don't get what the fucking point of the Anarchs is and why I would even jokingly side with them.
The anarchs hold the same values that the Camarilla does, they just don't believe they need the law enforcement of the guhbuhment to enforce the rules. They do have somewhat of a point, Downtown was doing just fine before LaCroix showed up, and he's obviously only there to rise up the totem pole.
yeah
also this
nines is a king
>Y-YEAH! I SHOWED HIM!!
yes.
>TIME FOR MY VICTORY DANCE!!
>I HAVE SKILL I HAVE SKILL!! I PUT CERTAIN STATS IN SO I HAVE SKILL!!
The Anarchs don't have much of a point, are not very interesting or ambitious or esthetic and if you go by lore they're effectively useful idiots for the chinks. The only reason to join them in game is that Nines is a bro.
Its liberal writing you shouldn't think too hard about it. Camarilla = the system = bad, Anarchs = lefty goody goods = umm good and the Sabbat are nazis
It is what it is
Nines is a fag, flipping him off at the independent ending is the best part of the game
I think there’s enough dialogue in the game even from unaffiliated or anarch-leaning characters that informs the player the Anarchs have their own issues and general infighting. Strauss the direct Camarilla rep gives you an infinitely more warm welcome and support than the anarchs do even if you choose the most suck-up options
Strauss is the boy, I still need to do a Tremere run so I can study under him. Plus, the Tremere girl is cute.
Strauss is so clearly superior an option they had to hide him.
The only better character to follow is Beckett, and he's such a king that the game refuses to let you interact with him outside key moments. If I could change one thing I'd make a path where you can work with Beckett more.
Hes an autokris scholar. Theres no ending for him
>tfw there will never be a game where you study under Beckett to unlock the mysteries of your curse
guess it's time to bust out the book n dice...
I think a couple of side quests to give more exposition on Gehenna or generally more events on ancient supernatural events would have helped the game in general. As is the brief rundown Beckett gives you doesn’t sell on what all is involved in the end of days. But that might also be because of the multiple choice scenarios in the tabletop for what Gehenna even will be and even the follow up novels don’t reveal what canon one they chose
The Tremere chantry is easily the most aesthetic haven to the point where I kinda felt bad about giving the gargoyle to Isaac rather than destroying it
They're like the only ones constantly helping you and never fuck you over, they're clearly the favored faction of the storyline.
Whats the best overhaul mod Ganker
I like that The Final Nights makes useless skills not useless but all the new clans suck
She killed me a couple times, then I switched to guns and it was easy. I think that's actually the only time I used guns at all.
Yeah, even if it’s a bit of a slog you can beat her with decent points in combat skills and any of the mid to late game guns.
This thread is just every player that takes “I can’t use this yet what if I need it later” to consumable use and doesn’t use any of the generous money the game throws at them on weapons and ammo
Basically any boss in Xenoblade Chronicles that has an aoe nuke that requires Monado Shield, you either grind and level up the shield or overlevel yourself to brute force the boss. However, the final boss was the only one that made me go back and grind to level up that shit ass shield ability.
>I KILLED HER NO PROBLEM, I JUST TOOK OUT MY GUN AND BAMBAMBAM
stay mad 🙂
>S-STAY.. *huff huff* MMmmm..
what mod
While the likelihood of it happening is pretty damn low, if the player/his companions in P4G don't have any sort of elemental break abilities nor almighty abilities, it's basically impossible to beat Kusumi no Okami, since she's immune to everything except almighty.
I could not beat the final boss of this game, even after weakening it, because I didn't invest any points into combat and my tech/repair/whatever it was skill wasn't high enough to sabotage the reactor without blowing myself up.
As far as I'm concerned, blowing myself up along with the final boss is the canon end for my character.
AoD I wanted to like but every “you can solve every situation any way you’d like!” scenario would devolve into one high level gated option superior to the rest and a game of picking subpar decisions leading into forced combat ruined it
I beat her so I don't know what your talking about
Skyrim
>oh you put points into skills that don't let you do a straight up fight to a high level enemy?
>eat shit
The entire last third of VTMB is so fucking bad. It's two thirds of a fantastic game and then it drops off a cliff.
I can't use Dogmeat to help me beat these vault virus molerats in F4 unless I use my two grenades. I fucking hate when games go so fuckin far out of their way to feed you some skill-ambient dissonance shit.
If I can get past these fucks without using a certain fraction of ammo, aid, or weapons without being bitten once the the game would probably crash.
On normal difficulty, I'm just before the end where you meet Curie, and these fucks will glitch all over the room just to land a single buffer that can last the entire game if you don't play by the games rules. Fuck em, woke ass neckbeard C students.
>oh he has grenades and there's only one of us left
>I'll just hide from the character for eternity
>oh, I can tunnel behind the player on a 5 inch thick metal balcony
The suspension of disbelief and forced realism is slowly blocking my dopamine receptors just because "muh combat-skill balance equal gameplay"
>Playing Fallout 4
>Playing Fallout 4 without mods
You got what you deserve
I’ve heard the Russian guy is really hard in Alpha Protocol if you didn’t spike his cocaine and aren’t using Stealth+Pistols.
I wouldn’t know, I always use Stealth+Pistols. Shit is great fun.
How do people end up without any combat skills? Do you intentionally avoid all the free skill ups and books you can get?
