No, definitely great. Hits every note it has to and then some. It had heart, it had spectacle, it had great characters, great direction. The gameplay is definitely the weakest at being "good enough", but one "good" in a sea of "great" does not make something "fine".

it was always niche, AC6 was just hyped up by FromSoft bandwagoners claiming to be "long time fans" when only sub 7000 people in the whole world played the series

There were far more people joking about being “long time fans”, such as myself, than people who actually were pretending. Most of this people just exist in your head. It was hyped up because the fanbase for FromSoft/Miyazaki games is much larger and more passionate now. Very simple.

Making you play the game three times to get all of the endings is super gay. ACFA let you get any ending in any order and 4th Gens hard mode drastically changed every single mission instead of just a handful. Really disappointing to play 10 or so missions in a row with no changes only for the one alt mission to just add a few MTs. Mid mission decisions are a cool idea and its lame that the mechanic was squandered. Stagger theoretically encourages to balance your build by bringing a DPS, Impact and punish weapon but its too easily cheesed by spamming automatics guns. Really hoping for a FA or VD style sequel soon. Maybe they can focus on refining now that the heavy lifting has been done.

        >Miyazawa's comment on the album:
        >"I joined From in 2014 because I love the AC series, and I was finally able to join the development team as part of the BGM/sound effects staff and I'm very grateful. I had hoped to start working on AC as soon as I joined the company, but that didn't end up happening for a long time. But I think I was able to fully utilize the experience I gained from working on other titles, so I hope you enjoyed it.
        >The last track on the album, "Takes Me Anywhere," features the chorus of all the friends who worked together on this project. In fact, I actually started work on it as soon as I had joined the company, and although I had always wanted to make it a reality, I never had the chance to realize it until now. But with the help of many people, including the development staff of ACVI, I was finally able to complete it."
        SOUL
And boy I really do hope that we get these versions if we ever get a DLC, or even in an update like with Sekiro that adds harder versions of the base game bosses/missions.

Didn’t read the rest because this shit s just blatantly wrong so I’m not going to bother. You’re actually locked to the one fricking ending in For Answer, then you can do the other two which is both on the Orca branch. Well, if you do the orca arena that is. Other wise just the Orca ending. AC6 is already better since you can pick two of those three endings from the gate, if you brought up Last Raven then you’d have more of an argument

Yeah I thought all prior AC games had multichoice from the start. Still shouldn't defend the NG runs because they are so barren of new content, I know there's lore reasons but the fact that the arena dries out at NG++ is especially shit. MOA shouldn't have more content than a PS4 game for fricks sake.

You know how short MoA is right? It’s pretty short for a AC game in general. Shorter than AC1, but it’s got tons of arena fights to hold you over as extra content. Thing is, making an AC and plopping them in an arena and deciding what level of AI they use since it’s not the main arena doesn’t really equate to the same level of content of AC6 offers. If they can mod in an extra arena in like the second month of the game and that’s just because they were getting submissions, it really doesn’t demand much.

Always hate it when people try to use the older games to find a reason to shit on the newer title, justified or not, and if it’s justified, usually they overblow it cause then it leads me to bad talk about titles that I love. MoA is kino, don’t use it to try to make your weak criticism sound more plausible. Hurts your argument more than anything really.

              Anonymous

Then why not add 1000 arena matches for you to complete then? Surely you wouldn’t be sick of that by the end right? You’re just asking for more mindless content. Making the extra arena like Silent Line’s AI training is comparing an older title idea to expand upon the newer game. You are just asking for bloat,

          >too much quick booster
Well that’s been there since AC4. Not wrong to think that, but late to that complaint
          >less parts
Problem with each new gen AC game. AC6 has more unqiue functioning parts out of the gate, but some so distinct they don’t mesh well so it feels like it’s less. Again, I have not played a vanilla gen AC game that doesn’t have this problem
          >lack of minimap or radar
That I do agree with. Never felt like I needed a radar as a norm in past AC games, but weirdly enough AC6 made me wish I had an older style radar over the compass shit. The rest of what you said is just subjective shit

            Anonymous

How did you even play without "needing" a radar? It's the only way you can check what's behind you without turning to look. The freelook of 6 makes it less useful but even then the emptiness of the UI really hits home, not even a very high visibility though simple compass radar is provided.

I enjoyed the game. Honestly, I wasn't expecting on getting another AC game after so long, especially with how AC5 and VD turned out. Was it everything I wanted? Eh, the soundtrack for the most part was forgettable, much like how Elden Ring's was outside of a few tracks. Wish it had more parts too. Stagger system was a hit or miss. I wouldn't mind if it came back revamped somehow. I will say the animations for a lot of things is fricking beautiful, like the pile bunker or the steam coming out of the AC when you come to a stop. Great English dubbing as well. Fantastic even. Favorite AC game? No. Worst AC game? Also no. Could it have been better? Of course, everything can.

    >don't have to think about aiming
    >don't have to think about ammo
    >don't have to think about health
    >don't have to think about energy
One of the most boring games I've ever played. Kind of hilarious that they randomly added estus without actually thinking about the fricking point of estus.

How do you think they could fix it? Give you a heal animation? Bring PA back? Is there even a cost or rank punishment for using all your flasks? i always down all of them because they feel so inconsequential.

        >Is there even a cost or rank punishment for using all your flasks?
There is. Increases repair bills, and in most cases unless you go out of your way to kill extra AC's or loghunt targets you absolutely can't take more than 2-4k damage if you want to S-rank the missions on slower mechs.

speed of mech doesn't matter, some mission have hard heal limits and you get immediate A if you go past it (with most annoying examples being the fricking tutorial and michigan)

NTA but I'd much rather they just remove it completely and add the healing back to your max AP instead. The repair kits just seems like something they lazily brought across from souls games under the assumption of 'reducing max hp and giving it back in the form of consumable healing items = higher skill expression???' without any of the considerations of why it works so well in the souls games.

The funny thing is, the main reason that everyone was latching on to before release to try to justify their inclusion was that there'd be much longer missions in the game that would require you to manage your repair kits properly and reward players that avoided damage as much as possible (never mind the fact that managing your AP in missions was already a huge deal in the older games anyway without needing an estus equivalent). Then in the final game they just placed Supply Stations before every boss fight anyway with absolutely no downside to using them, completely defeating the point of the repair kits.

I feel like the healing system did so little either way that it's a sign of a contentious personality to give a shit at all.

          Anonymous

the point of repair kits is lowering your effective AP so you can't just facetank everything and have to actually dodge and use pulse shield blast

They could have put a price on supply stations so using all your flasks then fullhealing makes you potentially get nothing or even go negative. Also the long missions were so disappointing, only one that feels good is the first RaD infiltration due to all the hidden parts they put. I was really expecting maps to be 3X the size of the tutorial city with how much emphasis they put on OB, Mid mission heals and the "traveling AC" in the trailer.
          >Remember the first leak for the game and everyone thought the maps were going to be "open zone" with multiple missions in one map?

That’s probably a holdover from when they planned it to be an open world game.

Just like the chopter boss that i memed its gonna be a boss before playing old games and realice some chopters that transport your ac in mission are like that sometimes?

This was pretty funny to me, some missions I could go to the supply station with over 85% ammo and 80-90% AP remaining without even using kits on my first playthrough. I would assume they playtested some of the levels using Dual COQUILLET+shoulder bazookas, and realized they will run out of ammo before the bossfight even starts and just slapped a supply sherpa point before the next big damage sponge. Maybe half of the sherpa points feel like they are there to give all of the low ammo builds a figthing chance which to me removes part of the fun in AC, where you had to tweak your builds for missions instead of making everything viable. They probably aren't there for AP, even on longer missions.

speed of mech doesn't matter, some mission have hard heal limits and you get immediate A if you go past it (with most annoying examples being the fricking tutorial and michigan)

I'd swear on some missions there is more weight placed on mission time, f.e. the attack on refuelling base at least has to take into account mission time as I finished it multiple time without using kits and only when I just boosted past everything, killed one of the LC's and went straight to the Ekromoi fight I finally got the S.

            SOME missions yes
There's no universal requirement and they are mostly divided into "time matters most", "need a specific score so go kill those things out of the way", "heal more han twice and you can just immediately restart and "don't spend too much on ammo and repairs". Which one the mission uses you will have to find out yourself but mostly it's the first and the last

        >Is there even a cost or rank punishment for using all your flasks?
You still pay repair costs even if you heal that damage up
Real issue is time having too much impact on rank compared to literally everything else

People don't understand that the only way to "revive" mecha games is to increase the popularity of mecha overall.
normalgays aren't going to play AC6 no matter how many times you scream Dark Souls.
If you Black folk want mecha games to succeed, you need to put out a new gundam/macross show that attracts normalgays.
    It's that simple.

Honestly every Assasin's Creed (yes even Unity) mogs the shit out of the weird "Witcher but shit" thing that AC has been doing, Origins was naff, Odyssey was boring, Valhalla wasn't even Assassins and who gives a shit about Mirage? That game being Uplay exclusive on PC killed it in the crib, when will devs learn that PC players will only ever buy their games when they're on steam?
Not me though, i'm a sailor

Mecha is niche outside its main customer base - autists. If estrogen and rope hadn't decimated the current autist population we could have had more mech games, but it is what it is.

Looks like there will be no AC6 dlc, maybe not a standalone expansion either. I wonder what the team will be working on next. Just making the tech and assets and jever using it again is not Froms MO. There has to be some sort of robot sequel.

AFAIK Miyazaki in an interview mentioned the double edge nature of open world DLC. Need two years because it needs to be big to accomodate the existing game. AC6 is mission based and probably easier to add, depending on what they could do.

Every AC generation has been milked for multiple releases before having to innovate again. I'm assuming after Erdtree we'll get another small souls game like Sekiro before getting AC6answer

Actually possible. Not overlapping with their own releases so they don't oversaturate their customer base is smart. A continuation from Sekiro eould be kino, but it really is anyones guess. Self contained AC games every 2.5 years would be dope if they sell well enough.

Ac or any mech game will never ever become goty(most popular and most copies sold meme award) because it's a niche game and only sold well because of fromsoft name, souls games now become very normie friendly and they will milk this shit forever now but I'm happy they still make niche game sometime

Considering it ousold ALL of its prior games, and a majority of souls games, that seems like a win.

Just as a note, I'm not equating popularity with quality, but in terms of being a financial success, it seems open and shut.
