Yes, you're about on par with most of the community by doing that. But you're missing out by doing that. Zun integrates gameplay with the music pretty well, and when you manage to time a spell card to the climax of a theme it really elevates the overall experience. Not to mention you can appreciate character themes a lot better when you actually know the characters and what Zun intended with the composition.

Bullet hell games manage to scratch the rougelike itch of trying to achieve a goal over and over, failing constantly but getting closer with each run until you finally manage to clear the game. The main variable in 2hu games is your own skill level, and it's very satisfying to see yourself improve over time.
It's a crime that there is no fumo of Shinmyoumaru (I have pre-ordered the Futo one tho)

Bullet hell is fun as long as you don't get into the autistic scoring grind meta. At that point every game becomes a chore. But simply getting the 1CC and finally beating all the smug badly drawn girls the game has to offer is a ton of fun.
