You don't, its a series that excels at being 2D

Dark Souls is if Castlevania was slowed down and had some shitty ambient/epic music slapped on top, now that i think about it that's also what 3D Castlevanias already were.

I'd say I'd like it a little more like Sekiro but with a whip instead. Sub weapons working like the swappable arms. More vertical with the movement and jumping. Remake Sonia's game.

Curse of Darkness did it just right

This. Curse of Darkness was a great game that could have been refined and grown into a great series.

Konami is just a shit company that mismanages its IPs.

I actually liked Lament of Innocence more. Though they're both great games.

Reminder that the Dracula X series was the side series whereas Castlevania 64 was supposed to be the next main entry. Meanwhile it's Dracula X: Rondo of Blood and Dracula XX: Symphony of the Night which ended up being the most popular entries in the series.

Funny how it ends up like that?

Castlevania 64 was the superior entry.

I forgot how nice Rondo of Blood was until recently, despite being a very basic game. I like it more than SoTN somehow

    Bloodborne, at least gameplay-wise.
The theming never really gets to Castlevania, even when you reach the vampire castle with gargoyles and ghosts.
I find it hilarious how a game based around werewolves that come from aliens just casually confirms that ghosts and living stone are real, and nobody ever even warns you about it.

I don't understand this worship of castlevania. It was alright for the time but it's just corny garbage.

It's a fun and usually challenging platformer series, exploring Dracula's huge and surreal castle never gets old

This is the kind of person the Netflix show was made for.

    Lords of Shadow was good.

    1) take the souls approach, I have actually done a Belmont build run in every souls game where possible (it's not hard, use whips, knives, throwing pots, etc) and they vary from very fun to painful
    2) take the GoW approach like Lords of Shadow did, the first LoS game is a diamond in the rough that could have been incredible with just a few changes, the sequel decided to not do any of those things and instead went back to reinvent the wheel, and all they could come up with was "add a boring stealth mechanic"

3D castlevania is FRICKING EASY to design from a visual and level design standpoint, the difficulty is gameplay and making the whip feel right

That boss was cool. I never understood how a fish skelton was able to swim though.
The wyvern you could hop onto was also cool.
