Why is this allowed?

You agreed to the system requirements when you bought the game.
Secure boot is not mentioned on the store page
secure boot is required in windows 11.
is the game not cracked?
>You agreed to the system requirements when you bought the game.
Cool, I'll just install Half Life 2 and Steam on my Windows XP mach- Oh wait. It isn't supported.
inb4 "hurr just don't upgrade"
plenty of video games including recently Persona 4 get forced update that do nothing aside from making it impossible to play on older versions of windows.
You’re saying Persona 4 won’t boot on windows 10? That’s bullshit lol, my computer can’t even upgrade to windows 11 because it doesn’t meet the minimum specs
It used to, then they "updated" it specifically to stop it from being playable for most people.
sounds like a (You) problem because it works on my windows 7 machine
Bullshit. It works on Win10 just fine.
kek.
clown world. truly.
i'm glad empress exists and that modern games are shit.
Worst take of the century will always be "modern games are shit", dozens of games come out a year that people absolutely simp over and you cant find a few you like in the past 3-4 years? It is a mf clown world i swear.
Persona 4 is now 64 bit retardo, you're using a 32bit version of Windows. Fucking game runs also on Linux for fucks sake.
>making it impossible to play on older versions of windows
on machines running windows in 32bit
retard
Just enable secure boot. Takes like 10 seconds in the bios.
why would a video game possibly require such a feature?
also
>missing the point this fucking badly.
i bet your one of those people who blindly gives out their phone number, email, and probably social security to every company that asks huh?
Are you a fucking retard? Secure boot is something you should be using by default regardless of gaming.
Alright, Microsoft shill
>I must enable this feature before installing a new OS
>fuck it I'm going to bypass it and install the new OS anyway
>wtf my applications won't run
>reeeeee fucking Microsoft it's not like I was given clear instruction on what I needed to do before installing the OS
He probably got the Microsoft update on Windows 10. You didn't need secure boot for that.
No you definitely do because I can't install windows 11 from 10 for that reason. And If I enable secure boot my boot drive goes missing because its using the motherboard legacy boot rather than the uefi one with secure boot. I would basically have to reformat my boot drive to enable secure boot which is long.
Maybe they changed it because I most definitely wasn't using Secure Boot and it let me upgrade. I think all you used to need was TPM module.
You absolutely do. Windows update will not update you to windows 11 if you do not meet requirements. You're either lying, or you used some registry tweak to make windows think you had TPM enabled.
do explain.
one, just one good reason for the average user (corporate R&D/gov/etc withstanding)
Malware that runs in early boot stages, which is the most dangerous of all malware, with the most control over the system, cannot run.
meep, i guess if you're a retarded bug chaser who opens pdf's from random shitty sites or torrents random garbage then okay, fine. you do you. I'll stick with having some common sense, ad block/hosts file, and again, not being a retarded cunt with no situational awareness on what is being opened/downloaded.
MS doubling down on the mommy protect me bullshit is kind of a turn off. And i, general want my OS to be as quiet and non-intrusive as possible; sadly things are going the other way, rapidly.
>constant updates
>constant reboots
>shoehorning their latest garbage to 'drive engagement' (bing in the fucking start menu, cortana etc etc etc)
it's all so tiresome. PLEASE FUCK OFF MS. just fuck off.
(no really, fuck off.)
Secure Boot has been a thing since Windows 8 and isn’t exclusive to Windows. Stop sperging out tech illiterate underage.
okay okay, fun and jokes aside, how do you people run into so many troubles with this shit?
>never bothered with AV
>never bothered with a gimped bootloader
>avoid MS mommying the shit out of me with forced updates/reboots
and yet, no issues whatsoever.
you are a cunt. look fag, I can complain about MS increasingly coddling their users and the forced/arbitrary bullshit they've been pushing since like.. w7. (remember when you could opt out of updates without jumping through silly annoying hoops?) Anything you infer beyond that is just the typical pithy cunty Ganker bullshit. yes you're so clever and biting; i've never even considered linux, thank you!
(As soon as linux works as a desktop OS without nannying and constant babysitting, i totally will. but right now there's always something that doesn't quite work right.)
Windows 10 Enterprise IoT LTSC does not have this problem (or any problem because it is the best operating system ever created and is literally perfect)
I haven't seen a valid use case for 'upgrading' past 8.1 other than MS yanking drivers from windows update that were working perfectly previously (xbox wireless adapters for example)
in all seriousness, as an OS windows has been 'good enough' for quite a while now. new versions are not bringing anything useful or worthwhile to the table, but they need the revenue, and so here we are.
i'm just waiting for the dawn of 'windows as a service' where you don't actually 'own' a license to windows, you rent it for the low monthly price of $4.99
>free updates
>managed security
>bing/cortana everywhere
>automatic cloud backups of all your physical drives
>social media updates on your most used applications
oh you'll love it!
>I'm just waiting for the dawn of 'windows as a service' where you don't actually 'own' a license to windows, you rent it for the low monthly price of $4.99
Anon...
https://azure.microsoft.com/en-us/products/virtual-desktop
>And i, general want my OS to be as quiet and non-intrusive as possible
then compile your version of Linux genius
god i hate when people think they are smart but they are actually fully retarded sheep
>Linux
So he can endlessly troubleshoot a piece of shit that has no compatibility with any software and requires typing out novels in the terminal instead of clicking an icon once for the same result? Distros aren't meant to be used by anyone, they're a programming hobby.
Look at the OP, genius
You asked for a reason and I gave you a reason. Nice goalpost shifting though.
virus/malware/ransomware can't execute during booting
i guess that is anti consumer for you
ah, right that nebulous "security"
moron you're not getting malware/virus unless you're literally retarded
the corporations fooled you into enabling something that is more positive for them than for you, for your "security"
bet you've got TPM 2.0 turned on too like a good little goy
>is given argument
>resorts to namecalling and sperging out
The average Gankerirgin
When was the last time you heard of anyone getting a virus/malware? It's not even a thing anymore. You're a fool.
Often, but less commonly than before thanks to these new security measures like UAC and Secure Boot that everyone spergs about when they're first introduced before realizing they're actually a good idea.
such naivete
it's not a thing because of modern browsers and built in anti-malware and anti-virus in windows
hardware solutions has nothing to do with it
hardware solutions like TPM2 are the first step in taking control away from the user and into the hands of corporations, but it's for your own "security" trust us
>the first step in taking control away from the user and into the hands of corporations
oh man, that ship set sail quite a while ago
>cloud anything
yeah, hard fucking pass.
>no argument
>conspiracy theory bullshit
I'm being serious, go learn how secure boot actually works. There is literally zero reason to be against it. This is the 2020's equivalent of the UAC outrage of the 2000's.
>NEW BAD
>OLD GOOD
dunno, i'm sure if you went around torrenting random games/programs, clicking links in JS served ads, or clicking banners on porn sites you might get something.
a hosts file that blocks out ad networks is enough to prevent like 99% of your problems to begin with.
but at the end of the day common sense is the best tool you have. relying on mommy to do all of the thinking for you is just .. wtf? freedom of choice has an inherent risk.
It's less common now because of MS mommying you sperg. You wouldn't last a day on Linux.
>virus/malware on linux
TPM and secure boot is being forced on us to stop piracy.
You won't be able to run a file or program, make a change to your computer unless you are allowed to.
You are a fool
Wrong board
I hope you feel "secure" from the evil "hackers"
>TPM and secure boot is being forced on us to stop piracy.
SecureBoot can't stop piracy, because by spec it requires that users are allowed to upload their own keys to the key storage - authorizing whatever the fuck boot loader or kernel modules they want.
Saw someone fucking up with a WMI host eating up their CPU cycles from a miner.
Also saw someone with funny looking folders showing a file size of 3 TB est. in a 265GB hard drive.
Both from this month.
Because of MBR malware that starts up during boot time.
You'd have to be stupid (read: pirating or otherwise) to get it, but it's possible.
MBR or the ESP.
Modern systems don't use a MBR at all when EFI-booting.
Personally I'm not sure SecureBoot is all that useful in practice. Not on a typical desktop installation. Once a malware has the privilege to modify the MBR/ESP in the first place, it's already too late. You're probably gonna have to reinstall to get rid of it anyway. I mean, it's not entirely useless but the primary motivation behind SecureBoot is probably to make it harder to use alternative OSes. They don't have to make it impossible, just more of a hassle or make it appear "insecure".
i think that's the thing though, without the proper keys, it can't alter the boot sector. But yes, it absolutely made it more difficult for linux distros to be installed on MB's (particularly from prebuilts like dell or HP)
it was pushed by MS, so you really do need to assume nefarious intent dressed up as "this is good for you"
>Windows 11
>upgrade
>
Virtual divegrass is very serious business, can't have any cheaters.
>fifa
>win 11
>buy game, from EA no less
you kinda brought it to yourself
sucks to suck nerd
>playing FIFA in 2023
>EA
>FIFA
>Win 11
congrats you fucking triple retard
Um Linux sisters, how are we gonna play Fifa now?
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/UEFI/SecureBoot
>playing fifa
what are you brazillian?
Is this a joke? You literally can't play it without secure boot?
On Windows 10 you can.
Just not on Windows 11, which has SecureBoot as a prerequisite system requirement.
EA - or more precisely: the vendor of whatever anti-cheat EA shoved into FIFA '23 - probably have a check for the status of SecureBoot in the anti-cheat kernel modules.
Requiring SecureBoot to be enabled for the game to run, is just another line of defense against loading up kernel modules that enable cheats and can hide themselves from the anti-cheat.
With SecureBoot, they cannot be made to load without being digitally signed.
It's nothing more than a speedbump to dedicated cheaters, because UEFI SecureBoot by spec requires that vendors implementing it for their motherboards must enable users to push their own additional allowed keys into the UEFI. But it certainly helps against the average Joe grabbing a random cheat 'from teh internetz.'
>upgrade
>buy game
well that was your first mistake
You can't install windows 11 without secure boot enabled so this just confirms you did it some bootleg way and now you're paying the price for it. I'll prepare the noose for you.
>You can't install windows 11 without secure boot enabled
you can. the installer is a flag check not a hard check.
That's what I'm saying. It's a requirement. Just because you can change some registry files around to bypass it doesn't change that requirement. Nobody was ever intended to install win11 without secure boot. So if you did and now you're finding some applications don't work that's your own fault.
So you're saying the requirement is not required?
The requirement is required. Try installing windows without going through hoops to give a false reading to the installer. It won't work.
>without going through hoops
So it's not required. Thanks for clarifying.
If it wasn't required you wouldn't need to fool the installer into thinking you have these prerequisites enabled. You're only making yourself look like more of a retarded with every post. You fucked up and now you're paying the price. My noose offer is still open and I suggest you take it.
Here, let me help you out.
>required
>rĭ-kwīrd′
>adjective
>Needed; essential.
>Obligatory.
>required by rule
>Muh semantics
You fucked up. Deal with it.
>if I pretend words don't mean what they mean then I win
Wow anon you're so smart you really owned all those Microshills
You definitely suffer from brain damage.
It used to not be required for older Win 10 machines. My old PC was Win 11 without secure boot functionality. If I try fresh installing Win 11 on it now, it won't work tho.
Use ventoy, it skips that shit.
This wouldn't have happened if you switched to Linux.
Most every game nowadays is easily playable on Linux.
They'll never learn. Windowsmorons will keep BEGGING to get fucked in the ass for the rest of their lives.
b-b-but muh multiplayer! muh EAC! muh goyslop!
>Use Linux
Sorry but I'm not trans
I could list a bunch of games that don't work but rather than admit they don't work you'll start coping about how they're supposedly bad games and it's a good thing they don't work
start by listing ones that required secure boot to be enabled under Linux
>5 seconds tweaking bios is equivalent to Linux gayry
Lol
Lmao
I knew it was a big ask for a Ganker poster. Thanks for playing, or not.
Why are zoomers so scared of caring about anything?
Because they have no emotions.
Because their identities are literally shaped solely around what's trendy to consume at the time, be it products, services, corporations, narratives or personalities(e-celebs).
>secure boot disabled
>tpm disabled
>updates disabled
Hahaha get rekt gay
>upgrade to Windows 11
that's your fault
>but is new
windows 10 works fine and still has several years of support, so there is no reason to upgrade unless you want to be a beta tester in the same way that happened with windows 10 a few years after it was released
Win 11 is basically just Win 10+
you ignored this part
>beta tester in the same way that happened with windows 10 a few years after it was released
it will have better things, but you're still a beta tester with updates that break things
at least wait a few years for the OS to mature more
Win 11 is barely a new OS lol. The only thing you're beta testing is the new UI.
>The only thing you're beta testing is the new UI.
directx12 ultimate is also new UI?
they add new features beyond the UI anon
and as usual, they will end up breaking things the first few years after release
>Win 11 is barely a new OS lol.
don't trust that win 11 is safe just because it has many things from win 10, remember that they still have internal things from windows 98 and below, pic rel
More like Win 10- if you look at all the usability mishaps and shortfallings it introduced and continues to introduce.
>buying games from EA
Bruno what are you doing?
>buying games
>he doesn't pay a max of 20 dollars for a good videogame
I seriously hope you don't pay for AAA garbage.
>gay defending secure boot
But am I saying, secure or not, you love the taste of a boot. Especially when it belongs to a corporation.
i dream of the day when MS is only a multi-million dollar company.
I dream of the day they're a multi-cent company
well i mean.. technically they are right now.
just a few too many zero's.
We'll have to move the decimal by force.
>zero's
>plural
thank you grammar-man.
realized the typo right after posting that. can we still be friends?
how can I be friends with someone whose own fucking language I'm better at speaking
don't you feel any shame, don't you have any self-awareness, phoneposting tourist from r*ddit...
rhetorical questions, do not reply to me
Oh you're a salty cunt.
A stupid, pedantic little cunt
>oh no a typo, i must infer all the things.
Unless apocalyptic events sweep the earth, that is literally never going to happen. Megacorporations like microshit and garden gnomegle are what is called "natural monopolies".
In layman's terms, that'd be like every ISP digging up streets to reinstall new telephone cables every time someone contracts internet. That's never going to happen, it's literally impossible, so everyone uses the telephone cables laid by whatever government was setting up infrastructure 100 years ago.
yeah i know, as long as MS office and exchange exist, MS is worth billions.
but then again, a few years ago zuck was considering a career in politics, and FB would have been on that list of yours. one can only hope.
Microshit and garden gnomegle were mere examples, fagbook is indeed a natural monopoly as well. Also I don't know if you're being facetious or simply are fucking stupid, but office and exchange are not what's keeping microshit afloat. It's their monopoly over data centers(ie your servers), supercomputers, contracts with every globalist on planet earth, patents, technology, access to deep state inteligence and infrastructure.
If microshit had its own mines and fabricated its own semiconductors, it'd be stronger than most in the G20.
>agreed to TOS without reading
>now it's the developer's fault for doing their underpaid 20h turn to bring home a few bucks to keep the house and buy something to eat
It's not your fault, it's not the developers' fault. It's the Lead Developer's fault, that one son of a bitch that wakes up one day and decides that now Marty McFly is gay and doc brown is transgender.
Doesn't Windows require secure boot in order to be installed?
Why do I get the feeling OP followed instructions to turn it on and then after installing windows turned it off and is now surprised how retard behavior is causing issues?
i think 11 does (TPM/secureboot). normally what i do when setting up a new system is just make a USB boot disk via rufus for a VL edition of 8.1 i have lying around, then once that's installed the 'free upgrade' to 10.
i'm sure they'll clamp down on that at some point to force adoption of their pet retard, W11.
