EMERGENCY MANEUVERS!
Too late! Game over, pal!
These guys are crazy!
Area 6 is peak level design and certified kino.
Incoming enemy missile!
AAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH
What is it that made SF64 timeless perfection? It's not just nostalgia, because everyone loved it in late 90s too. It isn't just the memantic quality. What makes it so perfect and why hasn't Nintendo been able to replicate it for the series since?
Nintendo doesn't know how to make good videogames any more.
>why hasn't Nintendo been able to replicate it for the series since?
Nintendo's autistic insistence on doing "new" things with future titles. They won't just expand upon what worked and always throw stupid gimmicks into their games. Zero would have been fine - great even - if it had been focused on Arwing combat but we got a bunch of stupid shit thrown onto it.
>Nintendo's autistic insistence on doing "new" things with future titles.
I fucking hate when they bring this up and refuse to do another Starfox like 64. Just do it, you released 4 New Super Mario Bros in like a 5 year period no problem, fuck your "WE NEED TO DO SOMETHING NEWWW" shit.
>you released 4 New Super Mario Bros in like a 5 year period no problem
Uh, no sweetie. NSMBW had multiplayer, NSMB2 has coins, and NSMBU had um, a squirrel suit. 🙂
>Doing new things with newer titles
You know, except for Kirby and Pokemon
And Fire Emblem and Sticker Star trilogy and sports series and the handheld zeldas and splatoon and...
Who fucking needs F-zero and Star fox, right?
They don't have any ideas for more games like that, but every other game is almost the exact same shit then their previous games
Kirby and Pokemon aren't developed by Nintendo, it's HAL and GameFreak.
Fire Emblem is developed by ISIS - they still do some new gimmick each game and have been for the last few entries.
New Paper Mario is literally designed how it is because of "do different shit" autism.
Handheld Zelda is dead, and was still always about some quirky new mechanic anyway - they were just good.
Splatoon is the odd man out, it's actually surprising.
>Handheld Zelda is dead, and was still always about some quirky new mechanic anyway - they were just good.
Not when they leaned too hard into it, like they did in the DS games
It was more the wii u's fault.
They really wanted to utilize that shitty gamepad
It’s a perfectly done arcade game that doesn’t take itself too seriously but also takes itself seriously enough to not be cringey 90s humor that would be dated now. It also has multiple ways of playing through a run with different bosses even on the same level. Star Fox Adventures was another game repurposed as Star Fox, Assault was an attempted evolution of All Range Mode but focused too hard on telling a deadly serious story, Command was a rehash of Star Fox 2 but worse, and Zero was mired in the misguided idea that the gamepad was needed.
I don't think Assault was overly serious, the problem was too much all range shit, and also the fact that nothing felt as satisfying to use as in 64
Just compared bombs, in Assault they're a shitty standard explosion while in 64 they're like this awesome crystalline laser prism explosion that causes minor slowdown
Shoot em ups of any stripe NEED visual flair over and above anything
>we will never get another Star fox game
Fucking hurts so much, bros
Sector Y with the mech battlesuits was pure kino. That opening music was also perfect. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JgtF5tSUYTg
Don't party just yet.
It's time to try our new weapon.
Cocky little freaks!!!
>caiman
>ape
A for Andross. Get with the winning team, son.
>Never got Expert
How many of you nerds did it? I was really close when I last played like a decade ago on my childhood N64 (Now rotting somewhere in my gran's storage unit)
Seemed sort of bullshit since I recall needing to exploit the bonus points from multi-kills
>Seemed sort of bullshit since I recall needing to exploit the bonus points from multi-kills
That's the point retard.
Yes I got Expert. Sector Z is bullshit.
I read that as “grain storage unit” and was confused as to why a farmer would keep his N64 there.
I almost got all gold medals in expert. Having more enemies makes it easier, losing both wings in katina because one teammate decides to fly through you makes it way way harder
>enemy gets increasingly more panicked as you just push through everything they can throw at you
What other games do this?
I don't know but it's fucking great. All the big ass cruisers trying to converge on you, Rob and Great Fox giving you back-up, the sheer panic in THE LAST LINE HAS BEEN BREACHED! Perfect stage.
UNCLEEEEE ANDROOOOOSSSSSS
They had such a great cast for the characters and adventures and assault shat all over it.
I CAN'T STOP IIIIIIITTTTTTTT
WHERE IS THE CREATOR?
