        >league of legends
Why would importing a bunch of whiny entitled teenagers with anger issues save a genre defined by having functional communities of players that actually get along with each other?

It's probably going to be another PvE focused single player piece of shit that spends way too much of the budget and time making cutscenes and story.

    Unironically yes
Millions of people who were previously not interested in the genre will try it

Chronicles of Elyria will save MMOs

MMORPG has its start, growth, peak and deserves to die.
Its also extremely complex or even impossible to save.
Back in the days when gaming was garbage MMORPG made even more grindier, obtuse, confusing games and people bonded together to manage to survive and progress in them.
Came in WoW that fixed all of the bullshit issues and now people don't make friends and memories facing together impossible, grindy, stupid hardships and miss the good old days, but don't miss how dogshit the games were.
Riot has also not been as successful branching out, they are too big as a company, heck it takes years to never for them to fix glaring issues plagueing their games.
They have honestly better luck copying Genshin, free to play game with a casino where people play hundreds if not thousands to acquire waifus, content and exploration worth months. If they make MMORPG, they are going to fail as did everyone else who made MMORPG. I don't think Riot has the tallent to pull it off.

          its SCAMIGO now

I don't think it was the grind that brought people together, I think it was the content demanded social interaction from you. The social interaction requirement is gone now. Nowadays, you press a button and you get matched with other morons instantly, do the content, and then you never fricking see each other again. That's another issue too. Even in non-MMO multiplayer games like TF2 or whatever, it was literally impossible NOT to make friends with one of the other server regulars. Matchmaking ruined that too. It's no fricking wonder Gen Z is "the loneliest generation"

        Anonymous

I should used better word, convenience.
The unfixable issue is that nobody wants to go back. Your mentioned matchmaking too, makes people seethe and cope, but if you are a moron, you get matched with other morons.
Any game that failed to introduce matchmaking has been shitted on for it and reviewed abysmally, nobody wants level 10 noobs be matched with no lifer Koreans that play 18 hours a day.
So the issue remains that good old days were often complete shit game wise, but people bonded over it. Back in the days i remember no matchmaking, there was Russian no lifer that never let me live longer than 5 sec, the hours of agony, the joy when he finally fricked off and i could play in the server as equal. Good old days were built on a lot of suffering and that we didn't had anything better to do.
Chasing MMORPG genre is like chasing ghosts, just let it die, Riot is not going to make anything worthwhile there, its not a problem that can be fixed by throwing endless Chinese money at it. Their best fricking case is to make something new, like Genshin did, best MMORPG experience recently, barely even notice i am lacking MMO part of the game. At this point Riot better blew up the gaming like Shitnite or something or not even bother with making an MMO

No but it might save the queue into a dungeon or raid from a lobby genre.

BDO is fricking worse than gargling diahrrea, run in circles killing shit with combat thats not even the best in the genre, pso2 is better in every way, bdos sorry excuse for pvp doesnt count as content, no reason to play it aside from life skills

    hahaha, yeah, no.
The story will be stronk womanz and PoCs fighting the evil white guys.
The character and armor designs will be disgustingly sex negative so as to not force anyone to look at objectified versions of women.
The sad fact of the matter is that it will probably be just another trashy PVP focused MMO.

It will be another EverQuest Next at worst, another WildStar at best.

It's gonna be another generic PvE Themepark with instanced dungeons and instanced raids and instanced this and instanced that.

    No thanks.

If I have to "queue up" for your MMO then you've got a problem. I'm not waiting in a virtual line to play the game for which I paid.

I honestly wouldn't mind it if they leaned into it completely. If I could just jam raids and dungeons without any of the upkeep or commitement it requires to play a real mmo I'd probably do it.
