Can Nintendo really shut it all down? I'm hesitant on buying the game if it won't exist a month from now.

In my opinion it's very possible. And honestly as much as I hate Nintendo, it's gonna be so satisfying seeing reddit cry when this crappy little knock off company gets clapped.

    >the game has passed legal reviews, and no company has taken any action against it.
Unless the Indians who did the modeling stole the models outright, I doubt it.

i thought the models were made by a high schooler that worked at 7/11 or something.

No, he didn't have a high school diploma. The weapon expert is quite articulate in the way he gives feedback and is actually a good game dev in spirit. I don't have the translated dms he sent about how recoil should work

They squandered the most valuable IP on Earth, this usually happens to titans. They stumble and a competitor comes along at the exact right moment. Nintendy can regain their footing and hopefully this will inspire them to actually do something about Pokemon. Otherwise this is going to happen again. People love Pokemon, they just don't want the Pokemon Nintendo has been making, and that's all PalWorld is proof of.

Nah they won't do anything. They're watching everything for sure, but there won't be lawsuit or anything unless the pull a Disney thing or something. But again. Very unlikely. What you should be thinking is if is worth spend time in a game with bugs what might be abandoned as well and the previous games this dev made before.

    >released on gamepass
A Steam release isn't much of an indicator, but Microsoft has a more rigorous selection process for their gamepass games, and I'm sure this entry raised a few eyebrows so they'd run it through the lawyer department before approving the game for distribution.

they maybe could find one or two pal would have to dissapear or be modified but they had years to S&D this game and they didnt, so again, no.

      >they had years to S&D this game and they didnt
Which at least under American law weakens a possible case.

Short answer is no. They have made enough cash off this to do a head to head lawsuit with Nintendo and if Nintendo fights this in court and loses it would frick up things even more because it would green light even worse copy cat behavior. Look up Mega Bloks v. Lego case to get an idea how horrible bad this could end for Nintendo if they put up a fight and lose.

I'm bored so I'll argue here, logistically speaking the case between mega blocs v Lego is completely different since we're talking digital and yes that's a whole different venue. As for whether they have the money to go up against a conglomerate like Nintendo? Psh I think they'd settle and pay the fines and shut the game down before they ever step foot in a courtroom. It'd be a quiet death and they may have a way to bounce back with something else but IF this is a legit case of copyright theft it'll be a very bad decision for palworld devs to go up against Nintendo

Japs are weird af about their legal system. They don't like litigating unless they have a sure thing. It would be dishonorabu to sue the tiny company and lose. That's why they bully nobodies for free wins.

      Anonymous

Well there is that and the fact that they take the lose as universal allowance to do even more egregious behavior. Like if they sued and lost you'd see Activision make a CoD skin that's 1 for 1 Pikachu but green and calling him "Pukachu" and there be no fear of push back because that case would be the biases for any rip-offs going forward.

I'd like to see them try. With how well received and popular it is, there's no way they won't come out looking like the bad guy regardless of the outcome.
And they better make damn sure the next pokemon is up to standard else they're gonna get flayed and dragged through the mud.

So palworlds isn’t allowed because it’s like Pokémon? What about digimon? What about Pocket Mortys?

They don’t own this type of game lmao.

I would say other mons games have designs much further away from Pokemon and are much less influenced by Pokemon.

  17. 4 weeks ago
    Anonymous

Obviously not. Even if Nintendo sued AND they won (already a stretch), the most the court would do is order Palworld to change some designs.
The game is completely different than Pokemon in graphics, tone, theme and gameplay. There's no case.
