Can someone explain how this is millions of people's first Soulslike? I've been playing these games since 2012 and this game is still hard, how the frick do new players even enjoy it? Do they just immediately look up meta builds?
Ape Out Shirt $21.68 |
You suck.
>Do they just immediately look up meta builds?
obviously
these games are developed with the idea the moronic fanbase will look things up online, the quest design is the most obvious example of this
>ranni ending %
true
as a long time souls veteran who just got burned out with elden ring and couldn't finish it out of boredom and cos it just felt unfun to get OHKO
what are some good meta builds (and also fun)?
pump STR (gives you damage and flat DEF), get ruin greatsword, spam L2 and jump R2 to poise break
doesn't get easier than this unless you do magic focused crap
i heard str kinda sucked a little since everything is super fast in ER
It's good enough, works perfect if you invest a little info faith at later levels too.
But rivers of blood dex / arcane is probably the best build out there
>he doesn't know what DLC did to the darkswordgays of DS3 or the BoMgays of BB
you'll be in for a surprise when you learn they balance for PvE in the DLC's
They’ll balance the DLC by making the bosses too fast for even RoB
Nah, the secret boss of the DLC will be a starus-immune Gargoyle-type like those little shits in the catacombs the bleedsgays sneethe about.
I did full str ungabunga style for my first playthrough.
Zweihander poise dmg & lion's claw go brrrrrrr.
Trying to play strength dps (roll r1) doesn’t work in ER because you’ll either get attacked during recovery frames or be stuck doing r1s at the end of long ass combos. You’re meant to bait bosses’ charges/jumps then punish using a high damage ash or jump r2 (this only works with UGS). It’s boring and feels like cheese.
Strength is good, but playing a Strength build like it's Dark Souls is bad.
If it sucked then not anymore because they keep buffing str weapons every patch lol
I've got a great build for you called "level up vigor and unequip the soreseals you fricking moron"
The game has a lot of fun spells and miracles, also there is a lot of very good mixed Strenght/Int and Strenght/Faith weapons.
This is my current run build that I'm doing out of fun, sadly these are the only 3 weapons that have access to quad scaling so I didn't have much build freedom.
Any build is viable and fun in this game, but you have to level vigor. Anything less than at least 40-50 vigor by end game is just suffering unless you are perfect at dodging. And dodging attacks is way less intuitive in this game in the sense that it's not just matter of timing, often more importantly, positioning. But sometimes like in the case of Melania, it's just moronic unplaytested bullshit.
Your complaint is a legitimate one. I get that they expect you to level your HP as the game goes on. But the fact that even at 50 vigor and with no damage-taken debuffs, late game bosses can 2-hit true-combo you and kill you if you whiff dodging certainly attacks is pretty ridiculous.
>as a long time souls veteran who just got burned out with elden ring and couldn't finish it out of boredom and cos it just felt unfun to get OHKO
you can't be this fricking bad Black person, you can finish the game with just a greatsword and enough VIG, stop being a b***h
It's not really a coincidence that anytime you invaded a player, even when the game was first coming out, they'd have a co-op buddy at all times and they were rocking Sword of Night & Flame, Moonveil, or Rivers of Blood. I don't think they're any worse than me, it's just how they want to experience the game and have fun. If Elden Ring didn't have OP shit for casual players to abuse in PvP & PvE, it would just not have the amount of players it has, plain and simple.
They persevere until they succeed.
You also have spirit ashes and summoning.
This, it's pretty easy if you use all the tools they give you.
>Can someone explain how this is millions of people's first Soulslike?
Openworld and GRRM is the answer
>how the frick do new players even enjoy it?
spirit summoning, guides and being able to level up alot before any boss fight
You can go through Limgrave, Nokron, Weeping peninsula before fighting Margit. You can fight bosses there and go through lots of small dungeons to get runes.
It's easy to overlevel in this game
> Openworld and GRRM is the answer
Actually, /v sold me on this game. All the post release hype made it seem like something a person should at least try out.
>Do they just immediately look up meta builds?
Yes, normalgays will make use of all tools available to them.
when blizzard made diablo3 and got rid of point allocation alleging people just looked up cookie cutter builds they had a point
It's my first souls-like game. It seemed the most approachable in the series due to its non-linear style. If I got stuck, I could just do something else until I felt like trying again. I feel like I would be frustrated and discouraged too easily in the other games, where you just have to try and try again until you can proceed.
That makes sense tbqh
this right here. have played these since DS1 came out on ps3/xbox. And the weakest part of all the games is the point back when you were learning these games still, and you'd just be stuck running from the same bonfire, skipping the same shit enemies in your path just to learn the boss again and get stomped the frick out. Or farming inefficiently to TRY and be stronger unless you were cheating with dupes or some sort of wienerery. Elden Ring is the ultimate "Don't give a frick do what you want" game. Once you've beaten it enough times, you know how to dismantle the open world and how to become gigachad tier in the first hour of the game. It took wayyyy more work in every other game to get a +9 weapon in the beginning, elden ring just asks you to find the materials necessary.
It's open world and the prevalence of souls games has increased with each major release.
>How do new players enjoy it
They look up guides and get more vigor. The cap for when vigor stops just giving you more and more health is 60 iirc. At that point most of the earlygame is just tickles and lovetaps. The game is hard to old players because it turns all of your old habits and muscle memory into deathtraps.
DaS1 pretty much does the same thing, just with less copypasted filler. There are usually a few places you can go even if they're all equally terrible. Makes me wish I had gone into DaS1 completely blind so I would have an unbiased impression of that, I just know where everything is now.
>DaS1 pretty much does the same thing
not it doesn't moron 99% of new players aren't picking the Master Key as starting class
> pick up big sword at that first ruin melina meets you at
> hit things
> get better at hitting things
> if you die too much one place, just go somewhere else
>soulslike
I call them rollslop nowadays because all you do is roll in these homosexual games
as opposed to... just getting hit? damn i wonder why people roll, really is a mystery for the ages
Shields, Anon, but of course the game mechanics favor I-frame crutch homosexuals that use status effects like bleed that do not have to make physical contact to work.
Rolling is the only consistent option in these shitty games now
>Parry
Trial and error shit, there's no parry tell which is moronic
use your eyes
hit parry just before an enemies about to hit you, adjust for timing depending on parry tool
>Don't roll in Bloodborne
BBabes, we win yet again.
>start elden ring
>start fling trainer
>god mode enabled
Yep, it's time to game.
Even if you do a "meta build" you'll still die. People are actually get guding. Praise From Software for bringing git guding to the mainstream and stop crying like a schizo.
>Even if you do a "meta build" you'll still die.
Yeah, and in 1 hit too.
Am I remembering wrong or was this uncommon in original Dark Souls? Unless you obviously fricked up and took a giant hammer to the face, OHKO attacks weren't that common. Now there's so much OHKO stuff, and a lot of it happens so quickly you can't reasonably avoid it the first time so it becomes trial and error.
In DaS1 it was rare but in BB there are so many 1 shots i think almost every boss has one thanks to their counter damage formula in that game.
you only die in 1 hit if you barely level vig, and if you didn't level vit in dks1 you would also die immediately in late game areas
Yeah I don't really like Elden Ring's approach to difficulty by increasing everything's damage to insane levels.
Getting to mountaintops and having a small demi human chunk your hp at 45 vigor just doesn't feel right, also I just did Malenia again and I completely forgot how her weakest attack does so much damage.
On an entirely different note, smithing stone upgrade requirements should be reduced to 1/2/3 for each stone level, needing 12 stones for each level just limits how many different weapons you can try out in a run without needing to start farming enemy drop rates.
The amount of smithing stones required is a big problem. It has been said before, but it totally discourages players from experimenting with different weapons and builds. Kind of a bummer that you have to start an entirely new character just because you don't have smithing stones.
I hope you guys are aware that you can get bell bearings that allow you to buy all levels of smithing stones (normal and somber) except for dragon smithing stones. you can't upgrade all of your weapons to +25 (+10 if they're unique) in a single playthrough, I'll give you that, but at least you can upgrade them all to +24/+9
Yes but you have to get to Godskin Duo for that, game's pretty much over by then, and accessing farum azula turns the roundtable hold into a fiery shithole.
This
and also, if you were to upgrade one weapon to the point where you still need an ancient dragon smithing stone, and you realize it's not as powerful as you thought, you have now wasted a shit ton of runes, time and stones that could've been spent strengthening another weapon.
i literally only used 1 weapon and it was a somber weapon because i couldn't be fricked to gather more stones just to try out weapons i may or may not like
>People are actually get guding
No they aren't. Just going by the kind of PvP I fight in invasions the player base is actually worse than before
They use spirit ashes
With summons, and by choosing an OP class at the start. Also, guides on where to find the best loot.
I played as Wretch and, after booting the game and getting my ass kicked for two hours straight, I had the same thought: "How the frick is a new player ever going to beat this game."
Then I saw a friend of mine pick Samurai, go straight to Margit, and beat the boss in two tries by just R1ing his ass while summons took aggro.
Elden Ring is the easiest Souls if you're willing to use all the tools at your disposal. Even with my self-imposed limitations, it was fairly easy except for the very start and the very end. I felt overleveled from Liurnia to Farum Azula basically.
The people having the hardest time with this game are, unironically, the brainless fromshit fans who try to play it like it's demon's souls and get mad when their one weapon, one strategy, no items gameplay gets them killed. Elden Ring has more bullshit bosses and higher difficulty, but the level of gear, weaponry, special abilities, and yes, summons and ashes, make you so ridiculously overpowered the game is a joke.
Don't forget that FROM games lean into the ability to get help from the community. New players explore a bit and when they get stuck either summon help or look online for things they're missing. The min/max autism that the hardcore community wields allows the normies to latch onto the information provided by them to make the game complete-able without too much pain.
I use mods.
based mod chads, dabbing on devs
You’re bad at video games, the normies who jumped in on Elden ring are slightly better - easy.
>Normies who jumped in on elden ring are better
>Every streamer who played ER used mimic tear, katana, greatswords, jumping attacks, every meta trick in the book no matter who they are
sure
>Every streamer who played ER used the tools the game gave them
woah...
it's almost as if people play the game differently and your playthrough where you ignored mechanics because you're le hardcore gaymur is literally no better or meaningful than theirs
Do you think it takes skill to use ashes? They literally play the game for you
It's a tool the game gives you. No one is impressed that you ignored mechanics.
The game is known for being the easiest souls game available, thats why it gets so much praise.
>Implying there's only mimic tear, katana, greatswords, jumping attacks, and every meta trick in the book
>and so single another weapon, item on off-meta trick
Cope harder.
NTA
Difficulty shills like to spout shit like “You didn’t really beat the game’, but don’t consider the fact that if a Boss does some moronic bullshit, it didn’t really beat you either. Malenia heals on hit. That’s awful. She’s not a real fight, so you can do whatever you want.
>if a Boss does some moronic bullshit, it didn’t really beat you either.
Correct
>Malenia heals on hit. That’s awful. She’s not a real fight, so you can do whatever you want.
Biggest fricking cope ever
Healing on hit isn't the problem. She's annoying due to her poise resetting super armour.
Though her healing on hit even when you block all damage is absolutely bullshit.
Because Dark Souls isn't and was never a hard game.
Summons make the game almost as easy as skyrim
>Can someone explain how this is millions of people's first Soulslike?
I tried Dark Souls years ago, didn't like it. Tried this when I saw it on a piracy site and enjoyed it. To be fair, I've beaten Dark Souls now and enjoyed it after playing Elden Ring.
>how the frick do new players even enjoy it?
Summons plus magic solves a solid chunk of the early game. Margit is literally
>Summon wolves
>Back off
>Throw pebbles at him while the wolves draw aggro
>Roll about if you draw his aggro and the wolves will redraw it quickly
Then as you get into the middle game you can experiment more with different builds/weapons but most people who play magic have grow accustom to their pebbles.
>and this game is still hard,
this bait needs a rewrite
maybe say its the hardest one youve played.
because it was fun!! also, margit wasnt as hard as people make him out to be. i didn't look up what was meta, but i pretty much figured it out myself. i always spec into dex shit in RPGs bc I love stealth builds, so once I got some blood weapons i quickly realized how good they were lol.
I used to be into metafrickery, but it's more satisfying to wreck in pvp with the most random shit that nobody really knows how to counter
Based
the tibia summons spell (or the rosus axe skill version) is surprisingly good against spellgays, I've found
Open world. GRRM attached as a writer, which did wonders for publicity. New multiplatform IP, whereas Bloodborne was a PS4 exclusive and Dark Souls 3 was, well, Dark Souls 3.
As for how normalgays play the game, there's a myriad of easy mode options built into the game, without the game explicitly telling you you're playing on easy mode. Summoning spirit ashes is the biggest one. Here's how my 3 normalgay friends beat the game:
>Bloodhound's fang DEX/ARC build (for rot breath) with mimic tear
>Moonveil INT/DEX build with mimic tear
>Dual bleed-infused curved sword build with mimic tear
It's a very approachable game, much easier than previous games even if you're playing singleplayer. As long as you use the easy mode weapons and summon.
Apparently it'll follow through the second you press L2, so if you're getting constantly staggered it can be a nasty surprise for people dog-piling you.
What was the first car you owned?
Ummm wtf, how was THAT model your first one?
I owned the model before that, AND the model before that.
<this is your logic>
bot post
Dark souls weren't as popular as you imagine them to be.
Demon souls was a niche game of a niche genre that somewhat challenged the increasingly casual mainstream so it was in the spotlight with game journalists and reviewers.
You're to high on Ganker and resident console kids views of gaming. Like the gays that imagine Blyatborne is some epic game everyone wants to play.
Elden Ring is popular as frick it sold over 10 million copies
Do you know how to read?
Read my post again.
FIFA 2018 sold 24 million copies.
FIFA 2019 sold similar next year and so on and so forth.
Normalgays buy a console with a bundled game, maybe another controller and then just buy next year's NBA or call of duty or elza frozen free snowball fight.
And to play demons souls on a PC you needed a ps3 emulator.
Dark souls in PC was unplayable before that madlad modder made resolution and RAM usage mods and shit.
>look up meta builds
Right.
I doubt most people even complete this game and only mention it for gamer prestige. I mean you will be looked down on if you say negative shit about it. Anyone know the completion percentage from trophies/achievements?
>Anyone know the completion percentage from trophies/achievements?
Pretty high, at least on Steam.
Over 20 million units actually https://www.ign.com/articles/elden-ring-sells-20-million-units
The tastes of the public are changing. Look at what the most popular games are nowadays: Dota and League, CS and Valorant, Apex and Fortnite. These are all pretty hard games. Not to mention how indies are selling better than ever.
Fifteen years ago the best selling games were either moviegames, or ultra-casual stuff on the DS and Wii.
People are even starting to reject the Sony formula, I've a ton of people losing their minds because GoW Ragnarok kept telling them where to go and what to do.
I genuinely believe we're at the beginning of a new golden age for videogames. There, I said it.
There is also 13% for the frenzied flame ending.
So around 30% of the players finished the game I would assume.
38.6% beat Hoarah.
People that got that far wouldn't be stopping at the elden beast
I wish I did
Game should roll credits after Radagon
Around 1% drops the game after each main boss or around that number.
So maybe more like 36-37% beat it on steam
I'd assume around 40%, I doubt there are many out there who got all the way up to Radagon/Elden Beast and then just dropped the game, but if it were 30% then that would mean 8% did hear Hoarah Loux and then did just that.
The popularity of these games shows anyone who thinks the mass doesn't want challenging gameplay is a fricking idiot and out of touch with the players. In fact this should have been bloody obvious to anyone who saw the success of Flappy Bird years ago.
People only want "challenging" gameplay so they can trivialise it
>challenging gameplay
fromtrannies are delusional
Spirit summons.
It's also much easier to make a powerful character in Elden Ring compared to other souls games since the game is so open with so many powerful weapons and tools to find.
it was my first souls like, i beat it in 80hrs including all achievement bosses. I wanted to play as my favourite character, Gatsu from Bjerk so my friend told me where to get his Golden Age Greatsword.
My friend kept telling me where to find cool items and other weapons that would help me with my Strength build. I said thats cool, but no thanks. I have my Guts Sword. Just tell me where the bosses are and let me do my thing. I didn't use summons because I didn't know where to get the bell but I would not have bothered anyway because all I need to be is Guts. Melania took me 30-40ish tries and that was the most attempts i've had on any boss. I beat Godfrey/prostitutealoo on my 2nd attempt (1st attempt at his 2nd phase, which I never got to see the suplex move until my friend told me what I missed out on). I also beat that dog in the crumbling venezuela the first time i ever got to his 2nd phase. his first phase fricked me up like 8 times tho
Game was fun, not entirely hard but I just needed to know where one weapon was and it's not a crazy weapon but it is the only reason I kept on playing. Do live out my fantasy as being Gadzooks from Brioche
I just picked what ever looked cool, so faith/strength with a scythe I found up in limgrave, worked fine for me
I had to ring the bell on malenia tho, I was close to getting her raw but lost patience in the end, the whole final stretch of the game started feeling like a chore tbh
Yes, that's how it works for zoomies in most games today.
Don't explore, don't experience the game yourself
Just look up a guide or, even better a youtube video about the best possible optimized setup
>HOW TO BE OP IN ELDEN RING
>BEST WEAPONS RANKING
>HOW TO CHEESE ELDEN RING BOSSES

>gee this boss is hard i can't beat him on my own, maybe i'll burn a humanity / ember to summon

Elden Ring is generally agreed to be the easiest souls game, it's only hard if you do a scuffed as frick run
What "build"? You just slap on some HP and STR and you slam. ER is also by far the easiest souls. It only becomes hard post leyndell, which I assume is where many of the casuals got filtered, but this is enough for them to "love" the game, having done the easy first 80% of it.
>I've been playing these games since 2012 and this game is still hard
You are implying your experience has abything to do with skills, when Elden Ring was exactly studied to filter rolltards
>Press L2
>Win
Didn't need to make up some autistic thesis to figure that one out
before some Black person (You)s me about only getting the buckler after margit, theres like 20 small shields that do almost the same thing if you just parry a couple frames earlier
that's a valid way to play the game and there are a lot of enemies you can't parry. the fact that many bosses require multiple parries before they can be riposted also shows that the developers put more thought into it than they have in the past.
it's just another option.
Wish you could parry more enemies in this game, and also love the multiple parry system. Kind of also wish that they never made an enemy ripostable but just staggered them for a couple free hits. Parries let you keep playing the game rather than have to sit back while the boss has a meth fit
i rarely take the riposte anymore. not only is it better to do a fully charged r2 or a big l2 on stagger, it just feels better. it's like the opposite problem i had with MH world / rise where you were being suboptimal if you didn't play the stupid stagger minigame every time it came up and the awareness ate into you even if you hated doing it.
Elden Ring has a lot of crutches to lean on, once you get Moonveil, Mimic Tear, Bloodflame Blade/Fire's Deadly Sin, Tiche or whatever else you can just start blowing through it, and even in the early game before that stuff becomes available you can just go off and explore somewhere and end up overlevelled for whatever boss you were struggling with before.
Zoomers have been being born for a bit now.
Why are there 40 different expansion/overhaul mods on nexus that do next to fricking nothing to the game made by different people?
Wishful thinking, but just wish these autists would collaborate and make something actually worth downloading and replaying the game with instead of this abandonware graveyard.
Have you payed Champion's Ashes for Dark Souls 3? It's probably the most refined overhaul mod I've ever played and is still in active development. Looks pretty great if you download the upscaled texture mod and use a decent ReShade, too.
As for Elden Ring, it's very early in the game's lifespan. I don't know what the frick people are thinking putting out overambitious overhauls so early.
Tried it when it was first announced, will have to give it another go. Personally loved Convergence before the devs ruined it, same with cinders
Exactly, I mean these guys obviously have some passion and ability for modding so I don't know why they don't try to make smaller scale projects individually that could then be put together on the user's end when multimodding gets figured out for the average soulsgay. In it's current state most people can't be fricked doing the work on their side to make mods work together with animstudio/yapped
nah i got banned from DS3 for hacking infinite stamina so i could roleplay as one of the stupid thralls while using a pitchfork and whip, wish i could play again without being in the special moron corner
Had a friend get it recently. Told him to start with DS1 but he got ER. He grinded for 20 hours before killing Godrick the Grafted.
Out leveling is the way! There's plenty to explore so it probably doesn't feel too tedious on the first play through.
I went full STR build, sprinkled with some FTH, and I don't think it's that hard. Sure, bosses are challenging enough but that's kinda the point. Also mimic tear is super OP. People made Malenia out to be the most difficult boss in gaming history, so I whipped my mimic tear out after just a couple tries because I thought it'd be a challenge with it. Won on my second go with it.
I know no one asked, but I know I'm gonna get shat on for it; I am planning to do NG and beat all the bosses, or at least most (and especially Malenia), without the spirits.
millions of turbo-normalgays who didn't know what a "soulslike" is bought it because it was marketed as being by tHe CrEaToR oF gAmE oF tHrOnEs Hack H. H. Hacktin
>Do they just immediately look up meta builds?
Unironically yes. I don't even watch gaming content and my feeds wee flooded with Elden Ring and it was all OP builds. I doubt even experienced players beat the game without meta builds.
Yeah. Also use magic and summoning, it's like the stealth Archer of elden ring.
You kind of need to cheese the game. Elden Ring is designed that way.
skill issue
>t. skilled comet azur user
i'm
I used a Greataxe with gravitas (cement poise-damage buff) and nothing else
>greataxe jump r2 spammer
>Used buffs
You cheesed the game
>coping and sneething with fanfiction to justify the fact you failed yourself
It’s not cope. It’s you admitting that you need to cheese the game to play it properly.
>you used a jump attack once from a ledge on your blind playthrough and the simplest unelemental weapon skill you could find; ergo you're no different to me looking up the optimal status build and spoiling the map, using that shitty custom potion 24/7, skipping multiple regions to loot the best gear early, minmaxing for the meta spells and gear, exploiting AI whenever I can, having npcs play the game for me, jump attack abusing for optimal DPS / poisebreak, using 500 elemental greases to hit all the weaknesses I've spoiled myself on and using an optimal poisebreak iframe weapon art
>who cares, you NEED to cheese the game, it's designed that way
>>we're not so different, you and I...
As I said, the only person you failed was yourself. Cope, sneethe, dilate (in that order).
who are you quoting
Unironically who are you quoting? I just did the usual of use spirit ashes to skip bosses and spam ashes of war.
who are you quoting
>pump Vit
>hit softcap
>get enough END for some nice armor, poise doesn't exist in the DS3 engine, just go for ef/fa/y
>pump STR rest of the way (magic is a spook, m levelling FP and FTH/INT/ARC is for dweebs)
>stop at Lv97 to avoid metaslaves and to retain challenge
>finish game and have fun with it
Simple as. I will enjoy the DLC 'underlevelled' just fine, just as I did the last 3 times.
its easy
spirits exist
This is going to be hard to believe but I've never owned a console. I've been a pc gamer since childhood. My friends also play on the pc. We didn't have souls games. Dark Souls was a horrendous port initially. It is probably the worst port I have ever seen.
As a result, I never played souls games until Elden Ring. My favorite games are big, long, complex open world RPGs with lots of exploration and lots of items and weapons and lots of different builds. Elden Ring is perfect for me. I started out playing ER as though I was playing Skyrim, and I was getting absolutely wrecked. I reverted to my pc RPG origins -- good ol' sword and board. Still got wrecked.
Then, I paid careful attention to the info the game gives you. I read everything. I started trying out everything, every move, every button. That's when I learned how to parry with the shield and stagger enemies. That changed everything for me. Everything fell into place from there. I started to get a feel for dodge-rolling. I started paying very very close attention the the enemy moveset. I became obsessed with shields. I used parry like crazy. I found a shield with 100% damage absorption. I went full sword and board.
And then I started to be able to kill without the shield. I paid close attention to things that had similar features.. bleed was my favorite. I used anything with bleed. The "paying close attention" thing became an obsession. My roots are pc RPG, so I loved the leveling up in Elden Ring, looking at upgrading which attribute improved which stat. I loaded up on STR and DEX and then upgraded VIG.
I just really enjoyed exploring, finding weapons, acquiring runes, and leveling up. I searched in every crack and crevice. I used the map a lot, used those custom markers a lot to remind me to go back to places that needed further exploration. It felt like the game took me along by the hand slowly, teaching me how to play. Somewhere around half way through, I wasn't using shields or summons. Love this game
>Do they just immediately look up meta builds?
yes they treat it like a korean MMO and grind and also dont follow souls veteran "rules" and they use every OP thing in the book to get by including summons.
as a souls vet who never grinds, respecs, summons, or uses OP weapon arts on the first playthrough it is really something watching the new guys play elden ring.
snowball effect. every single entry gains like 10 times more newcomers than the last. why do you think das3gays are the most annoying after ERgays? they're the second newest shitters.
It was my first sovuls game and it was not a hard go frick yourself type of hard, but rather a challenging type of hard and I like to bang my head agains the wall sometimes.
Otherwise it’s an open world and you can explore it to get some strong shit like summons, magic, magic with summons, some good consumables (volcano fire pots) and there are also bunch of weapons that powerspike you like reduvia, fang, moo veil and le big sword.
They look it all up online and maybe even follow a guide
Long time souls players also do this
ER is the easiest Souls game if you're not an idiot and use the broken RPG mechanics. It's only difficult if you restrict yourself and play it like a proper Action game.
Most normies played the game following guides, farming millions of runes and summoning friends
>>this game is still hard
>easy level farming
>spirit ashes that win the game for you
>no solo invasions
>respecs, on-screen tips
How is this game hard?
The players are more capable that they think, they're just pussies that were afraid of Dark Souls
>dark souls fans still think dark souls was hard and wasn't just aids to control
i swear fromsoft fans have never played an action rpg in their life
>uhhh, did you KNOW that you didn't play the game exactly how I like?
I have a lot of friends that play pretty much only what is super popular at any one time (Valorant, League, Warzone, CS:GO, etc.) and there are a ton of them who still won't even touch Elden Ring. It's just not their type of game. After playing all of FromSoft's games (minus Bloodborne because of the FPS lock) I can easily say it's their best and that none of the Dark Souls games even come close. Even Sekiro and the Demon's Souls remake are better
>I call them rollslop nowadays because all you do is roll in these homosexual games
>Rolling is the only consistent option in these shitty games now
Is Ganker really this bad? I can't play without a medium shield, getting guard counters and parries feels so good.
>Is Ganker really this bad?
Yes.
it's funny how everyone and their dog will post webms of skilled people doing things easily because they've fought the boss ten dozen times, really gets me going that they'll post these people who spend hours on one boss and memorize everything about it so they can beat it with their feet only for their videos to get used on Ganker for trolling
Guard Counter is literally just holding L1 and then pressing R2 after the block.
bro I literally just blocked his attack and then pressed r2, he even hit me because I was careless and ran out of stamina
you'd have a point if the guy was literally walking under the hitboxes or crouching to avoid an attack while doing damage with only his bare fists, but here he's just holding L1 and pressing R2 when his shield blocks an attack. if you call that skilled you must be absolutely shit at this game
Nah, I know i'm fully moronic and it's not like these bosses ever filtered me for more than 20 deaths like some other people have talked about. I just hate early game and honestly the ENTIRE game being giant c**ts with damage and fast, variable combos on top of it
>spend the entire game dumping 2/3rds of your levels into vigor
>still can't take a single fricking combo and live
>poise still doesn't exist except for the tiniest of arrows and throwing knives
>torches simply existing will make you flinch
I died the most to Red wolf of radagon and beat elden beast on my second try because he was moronic and kept spellcasting easy to dodge spells
>doing things easily because they've fought the boss ten dozen times
Hol up, you be saying players shouldn't get better at the game?
its good to finally play a game that is challenging, where you continuously play and become better at the game to then defeat the hard content, i also really like that there is no difficulty settings this means if you beat the game you beat it no bullshit about oh but you didnt do hard mode etc.
the only cheese was magic and this was my first souls game i went berserk great sword i had tons of fun with this game and made me look at single player games in a different light
all games are created to be beaten but none are even close to souls games in how they teach you the player to get better to beat the content in the first place.
Eat the magic playthrough. It's cheese but all the spells they threw into Elden Ring lead to magic feeling more fun even if you drop or don't use over 50% because they still couldn't balance.
I thought it was more frustrating than Demon's Souls tbh, in DS the path forward was always clear. In ER I was always under leveled because you're supposed to scourge every fricking place available before fighting bosses and that was super frustrating. I couldn't even see the entrance to half the mines without looking at guides. Npcs are impossible to find. Then you realize you're just wasting hours and it's easier to snipe the fricking bird. Frick this game.
Yes, they unironically immediately look up meta builds and also summon at every chance they get.
>Do they just immediately look up meta builds?
Yeah. My roommate hadn't played any of the games before. He got filtered by one of the watchdogs in a Limgrave catacomb or something based on what he was telling me and then looked up some meta build guides. I dunno if he actually ended up beating the game or not.
I still see lots of player phantoms fat-rolling even though we are over a year since release which makes it obvious that there are still lots of new players who don't know what they are doing.
my friend constantly tells me that i should just git gud and that he likes the way the game is bullshit, etc
He never even got to Radahn, I hate the motherfrickers opinion on games since he barely ever finishes them
>hur durr i'll guard counter margit
>hits me in the middle of my guard counter
>try again at a different point of a different combo
>hits me in the middle of my guard counter again
>guess i'm not using guard counter 🙂
>try to watch him and pay attention to learn his moves
>he passively walks back and forth waiting for me to run to him so he can swing
then i wait until the end of a combo to guard counter that be he just dynamically slaps me with his light dagger before jumping backwards
>moron can't even spell out sentences properly
too ez, git gud
I hope that when the DLC comes out they not only don't patch the Fire's Deadly Sin and Bloodflame Blade combo but also add in a Fire's Deadly Sin and Blackflame combo. Incantations synergizing like that is cool even if in this instance it's overpowered and unintended.
>enemies inputreading attacks
Literal forced difficultly
>boss in some dudes webm
>does nothing lets the player attack him
>boss in my game
>never stops moving, constantly jumping back, throwing shit, combo non-stop
RNG movesets and variable combo's depending on positioning make the bosses so weird in difficulty
That's the worst part about Melania IMO. Not knowing when you are able to punish her because she has so long to decide whether or not she will continue a combo and you have almost no idea when she will pull out an attack that is guaranteed to kill you depending on how far away from her you are.
Don't forget inconsistent staggering. Sometimes a boss will get staggered by your attacks, sometime they will not. And its usually after they begin an attack, but the biggest problem there is that bosses will sit idle and wait to attack until they read your inputs so they will begin their attack after yours starts, and then they will hit you as a result.
It essentially boils the game down to memorizing the bosses to learn very specific windows in which you are allowed to hit them and praying that you get good RNG that presents those opportunities often enough that you don't run out of heals or that they don't pull out an undodgeble super attack that instakills you before you are able to beat them.
bosses don't read attacks, dumbass
Yeah they do.
>He only defeated the boss because he got lucky
>I died because the game is unfair and cheap, it's not my fault
Your brain is making excuses.
literally doesn't happen
It does. Godskins will always throw a fireball at you when you heal. Enemies will always dodge when you shoot a projectile even if you aren't aiming at them. Just because the spaghetti code is done in such a way that you can't call it inputting reading, that's still what the game is doing.
yes, they input read projectives and heals, not attacks
show video proof or stfu
Projectiles are attacks.
that whole dodging at button press made me hate magic
>use magic
>they dodge every time
>use DIFFERENT magic that is slightly delayed
>hits every time, extremely easy to abuse
>can only really use meme delayed magic, a pitiful handful of spells
>hasn't seen the prelate dancing webm
>hasn't seen the blade lion dancing webm
>hasn't seen the night rider dancing webm
They input read attacks too, it"s not just the noticeable ones like Cumskins or CruciKnigs vs Sippy time
They started an argument delusionally banking on some moronic false assumption that anyone over 110 IQ can physically see evidence of ingame when they play the game
Why even bother replying to them? Their argument itself is definitive proof that anything they say is just moronic NPC mumble from human shaped meat
It's by far the most difficult in many ways, but at least you can go somewhere else in the world and level up by having all kinds of adventures.
I tried Demon's Souls back on PS3 and it turned me off in an hour. Since then, I've wanted to try them all as they came out, but the reputation of being extremely hard caused anxiety. I really liked the lore aspect and enemy designs, but didnt want to invest time in causing myself frustration and rage. Finally picked up Elden Ring about a month ago and went in with a pally build since Guard Counters sounded forgiving. I just 'beat' the game (walkthrough and mimic tears) and honestly, it's probably my favorite game since MGSV. There are numerous ways to gimp the difficulty to near non-existence, and I'm looking forward to BB and DaS.
They basically mass downloaded that shitty easy mode mod. It was the most popular mod for the game because normalgays are shitters.
They also looked up broken bullshit builds.
The Godskin Apostle does this attack in phase one where he spins around twice and it seems basically unrollable if you're in close range, but sometimes if you just stand next to him it won't do any damage - only sometimes though, the hitbox is really fricking arcane.
I've research this exact attack online and there's only one post on a random forum that even mentions it. Does anyone know which attack I'm talking about?
I think I know which attack you are talking about, but I really don't remember how I dodge it outside of parrying, have you tried jumping the first spin and R2 so that you crouch and the second spin misses?
Is it when his body extends or not? I think I may know what you are talking about.
No, it's in phase 1 and it's not the three hit combo either. It's the one he sometimes uses after the hook attack or randomly where he spin slashes to his left once and then immediately does it again to roll catch. Every video I've watched on Godskin Apostle just has them be out of range before the attack starts.
I was actually going to try parrying him with a buckler, but I think I bricked my game by killing the guy you're supposed to get it off in Stormveil. I'll try to see if jumping R2 work.
There is an attack that I can recall in phase one where he spins around twice. If it's the one I am thinking of, you can dodge it if you do two immediate frame perfect dodges in a row, or in other words, panic roll the frick out of it. I almost always dodge that one.
Do you do it in a specific direction? Every time I panic roll or do two consecutive dodges I just get hit still.
>buckler
Any small shield with parry or medium shield with storm wall are good enough.
Never played a souls, never looked up a thing. Beat every boss solo, minus the last three because I was getting exhausted after 100 hours and wanted it to be over.
I think Elden Ring is actually the easiest From game so far. There are so many different options of OP shit that you never once have to actually sit down, git gud and learn the game if you dont want to. Not to mention you can have summons play the whole game for you.
Because bosses were outright designed to corcumvent your expectations. Compare Artorias to Margit
Big bonk good.
Me happy.
Miyahacki made power leveling as easy as ever plus all the gamebreaking unbalanced equipment and queer high damage no risk anime moves. It's not even souls anymore
