Same reason facebook bought up all the VR devs but hasn't made a single good game. These big megacorps are horribly inefficient and are at the mercy of the whims of their incompetent executives who wield supreme power
Nah, with FB it's different. They want to force everyone into their walled garden and away from an open platform like PC. The problem here is that the hardware on their Quest headset is fucking trash - as any reasonable person would expect. Their headsets cannot run any large or complex games at anything resembling an acceptable level of quality compared to the rest of the gaming industry so devs just release low budget games, squeezed down to fit in the terrible hardware's constraints. What results is basically shovelware in a very large percentage. So FB basically wants to kill PC VR but at the same time the locked down hardware they have is awful.
With MS it's different and truly inexplicable. They have no reason to sabotage either PC or Xbox since they're both their platforms, yet their game output from all the studios they own doesn't even reach the level of middling.

Because game development takes way longer than you ever imagined. Normally, by the time a game is advertised, it's already been in development for like 2 years. They just keep quiet about it, because it doesn't benefit them start announcing earlier than that.
You only hear about games at the start of their development when they're kickstarted. Because the devs are begging for money. That's why you think every kickstarter game is a scam, because you heard about them from the very beginning, and it takes like 4-6 years to make a game. But in your mind, games should come out in about 1 year from when you first hear of it.
Imagine making excuses for Microsoft you braindead gay. Series X has been out 3 years now, and in every previous console generation games for the new console are started years before it even releases.

first and foremost, its a software company. The execs have no idea how to manage game companies under their umbrella.
MS released more good games this gen from all their studios than Sony did and yet nobody complains about Sony's mismanagement of their studios.
