>or is Squall in denial about his used-goods girl?
The removed scene on the Ragnarok shows he knows she's used goods, but doesn't care, because it's the past and not the present.
Seifer copied his fighting stance, victory animation and "romantic dream" from that film Laguna made where he had to actually kill a Ruby Dragon on set. There's no way his penis got anywhere near Rinoa.
Story? The main plot falls apart at disc 3 and the romance is developed so poorly that I thought it was the worst love story of the entire series, then FFXV came along.

OK no one knew about it then. The point stands. To be good at the game you need to work out certain tricks to make yourself powerful. And just reading the tutorials, you haven't a clue. if you use a spell you'll lose like maybe 1-3 stat points. Better to use it and and not give a shit about that tiny fraction of reduced stat and stock back up later, or only use spells you aren't going to cast for junctioning if you're that much of an autist. >I didn't got Brothers on my first playthrough. 8 think he has one of the few str junction abilities
Brothers has HP, not STR. Of the three GFs that have innate STR+ abilities you get Ifrit guaranteed and you have to fight Bahamut himself rather than draw him from a boss. Any other GF you miss can be drawn from the bosses in Ultimecia's castle at the end of the game.

I could understand a 5 year old not understanding right away but if you really can't work out that kind of simple shit then you are retarded. Let me guess you first played and didn't pay attention, cried about being underpowered to you grinded levels and then kept dying because enemies had level scaling

The junction system is notorious for being kind of cryptic to a new player. For someone without much information, back then, no Internet, no one to ask, it was hard to understand. And it's really not strange. I guess you're very perceptive - well done. But again literally no one I knew managed to grasp the system at the time until second playthroughs. So if I'm retarded then so is your average person.
Yeah. But a lot of people who played the game later have the benefit of knowing even before playing that the junction system is a challenge and that you have to focus on it. For me back then playing it for the first time, I just went with the flow and was fighting him with barely any stat junctions, without 100 stock of spells, etc.
>You couldn't beat Seifer? All of his boss fights are laughably easy. It actually hurts his reputation as the rival character.
bosses scale on your level, the game developer's intention being that you presumably pulled more magic spells to junction the more you grinded so monster stats increase in proportion to the average amount of magic you would have available.
however the reality is different. You can pull as much magic as you want, both from monsters, and from cards, and you can be insanely strong at a low level, and inversly you can be insanely weak at a higher level if you didnt understand the system and either abstained from drawing magic or simply relied too heavily on spells in combat and ran out.
i remember my first playthrough, i basically spammed gfs the whole time and grinded levels when i was bored. I didnt know/understand the level scaling and treated the game like a regular jrpg. By the time i got to the end game bosses they had like a billion hp and I was still doing 100-1000 dmg, shit was retarded as fuck. If i hadnt accidently turned one of my cards into 100 'u r invulbneral xD' potions i would have never beaten the game.
I feel like it was too easy.
Enemies scaling with you never made you feel that strong.
Island Closest to Heaven and Island Closest to Hell monsters would fuck you up at any level.
Yet it still was a simply EXTREMELY FUN game.
My favorites where the optional world map secrets, like the place where you get bahamut. I wish there would have been more spots.
The Junction system is complete dogshit. Having to farm magic from enemies or play 2000 games of triple triad to convert the cards is just dogshit design. Even if you argued that the junction system was good in principle so you can break it and become OP for the rest of the game with an hour or two of grinding.
Nah, it's great design. You can get through the game with some difficulty by completely ignoring junction or you can grind magic for like half an hour to never have to worry about the game being difficult until you hit the very end. You have options for making yourself overpowered if you want or you can just do the bare minimum of improving your characters to keep pace with the game. It's all about giving the player options.
Convert the items that you get from killing enemies, which you do because you aren't a monkey following a guide that told you to grind encounter-none because the person writing the guide hates the game.
While the junction system wasn't as good as the systems in 7 or 9, it was serviceable, and once you realised that drawing magic was for chumps and that you could just refine items it was great
it's called "getting the spells is a pain in the ass"
Convert the items that you get from killing enemies, which you do because you aren't a monkey following a guide that told you to grind encounter-none because the person writing the guide hates the game.
>killing enemies
that would level you up and 8 level scales
>that would level you up and 8 level scales
Which isn't nearly as big a deal as people want it to be. Plus it has benefits, as higher level monsters drop better items which refine into better magic.
There's nothing to redpill about. The time loop closed with the death of Ultimecia and Edea inheriting her powers. They went back to their own time after Rinoa saved Squall. All of the discs still happened as portrayed.
Predestination loop, anon. He had to do what he did to fill his part of Ultimecias downfall. He was always going to have done those things. It's literally his place in history.
In my headcanon this is why Squall survives the ice spear to the chest, and also why the Ragnarok just conveniently floats nearby when they're lost in space. The universe is keeping him alive to close the loop.
He was more influenced by Edea/Ultimecia than willfully wanting to fight the world. His "romantic dream" was twisted and taken advantage of by Ultimecia's mind powers.

bros nobody is going to put out a mod for a big game like FF and say it's totally cool to use on pirate versions. TTW for New Vegas does the same thing and it's a crock of shit they say to make sure Bethesda never has reason to take the mod down.
Sure it's all awful. Drawing is a terrible system due to it taking too long in the early game and never being fun at any point, being able to bypass it with cards doesn't absolve the game of any of that sin. GF's are cool but too long, I love the limit breaks but they're they make near everything else pointless. The story is stupid though I still like Ultimecia in concept, Squall is lame, Rinoa is cute, Quistis is hot. I haven't played this game in over 20 years god i'm old.
junction system was retarded, level scaling was retarded, asian-faced-heroes was retarded. Give me western fantasy final fantasy and not cyberpunk final fantasy. Monsters come from the moon? Cool. I first played this game in March 2021 as part of my going through the series that year. Nice game. I got a nice nostalgic vibe even as I was playing it. Dim battle system that takes a little bit of time getting used to, but the look and feel of the world is very nice. I had fun playing it and it greatly put me at ease.
are my two favourite tracks. Fisherman's Horizon is so good I just had to stop a while and listen to it before continuing. This game is too good for the scum on this board.
Never finished the game. I think the last thing I remember was the big bad bitch was invading the school or something like that. Someone spoil me. Was Laguna future Squall?
Initially it was for a good cause, Ellone had been kidnapped. But then after he saved her, he sent her home alone and stayed in the country that kidnapped her because they made him fucking president. After that, his wife dies and Ellone and Squall become orphans.

>3. Whether to keep spells in stock or use them
if you use a spell you'll lose like maybe 1-3 stat points.
>I did getting stuck on the Seifer boss fight near the end of disk 2 or 3. Just couldn't beat him.
You couldn't beat Seifer? All of his boss fights are laughably easy. It actually hurts his reputation as the rival character.
If i hadnt accidently turned one of my cards into 100 'u r invulbneral xD' potions i would have never beaten the game.
>bosses scale on your level
They have a fixed minimum and maximum level unlike random encounters
did Rinoa actually love Squall? or is it just incel cope
I just beat FF7 for the first time last year and thought it was a legit masterpiece, so should I play this after I beat Yakuza?
Yes
I agree. People say they love it because you can break it and cheese the game but that’s inherently shit design then
Nah, it's great design. You can get through the game with some difficulty by completely ignoring junction or you can grind magic for like half an hour to never have to worry about the game being difficult until you hit the very end. You have options for making yourself overpowered if you want or you can just do the bare minimum of improving your characters to keep pace with the game. It's all about giving the player options.
>convert the cards
Bruh you convert items
Yeah, so sorry, my bad senpai. Convert cards to items to then convert to magic.
Convert the items that you get from killing enemies, which you do because you aren't a monkey following a guide that told you to grind encounter-none because the person writing the guide hates the game.
You buy a bunch of Cottages and turn them into 100 Curagas
While the junction system wasn't as good as the systems in 7 or 9, it was serviceable, and once you realised that drawing magic was for chumps and that you could just refine items it was great
>gameplay
What is the proper way to play this game without exploiting cards and low level?
Yes, they both suck
>Story is completely inconsistent garbage
>gameplay is trivial before you even break it and even more trivial after you break it
How the fuck can people not understand the junctions. There's even an auto junction button. What the fuck.
it's called "getting the spells is a pain in the ass"
>killing enemies
that would level you up and 8 level scales
>that would level you up and 8 level scales
Which isn't nearly as big a deal as people want it to be. Plus it has benefits, as higher level monsters drop better items which refine into better magic.
so can someone chadpill me on the ending of the story? did Squall take them back in time and save seifer from being an ass or?
There's nothing to redpill about. The time loop closed with the death of Ultimecia and Edea inheriting her powers. They went back to their own time after Rinoa saved Squall. All of the discs still happened as portrayed.
why did they let Seifer get away with his crimes, then?
Predestination loop, anon. He had to do what he did to fill his part of Ultimecias downfall. He was always going to have done those things. It's literally his place in history.
In my headcanon this is why Squall survives the ice spear to the chest, and also why the Ragnarok just conveniently floats nearby when they're lost in space. The universe is keeping him alive to close the loop.
No one cared enough to bring him in, I guess.
He was more influenced by Edea/Ultimecia than willfully wanting to fight the world. His "romantic dream" was twisted and taken advantage of by Ultimecia's mind powers.
then why did he give squall a scar?
Because he's a cunt
because he's a competitive dickhead
*filters you*
First thing I did in the game was solo this bro with Squall.
>Junction 100 Death Spells to Status attacks
>OP asks to talk about the story
>people actually being respectful and discussing the story
Well shit.
He looks more like Cloud than Squall. He should get his money back.
>squall
>anime character
Journalism, folks
did anyone else try to act like and dress like Squall and never get a girlfriend despite imitating him so hard?
I did it because I thought it was badass, not really to attract girls. I even had a griever necklace. Highschool me was cringe.
Idk. My personality was a mix of Squall and Sasuke. I even made the uwu face IRL and never got a GF
>personality
I took from Kamina later on. 10 years later and remnants of both still linger.
>Want to play it again after like 6 years
>Gonna pirate the remasted version, they say is shit but...
>Is a very BIG piece of shit, the worst remaster i ever see, the models are ok at least but, paying for that? Yeah no fucking way, maybe for like 1 dollar and even is a robbery
>Oh, the comunity made mods, like the moguri one for FFIX, gonna give a try, the game look nice with the mods
>Install all, not working, ok maybe i do something wrong, install all over again, nothing, wtf?
>Go to chud forum where the mods are "Sorry, if you have a pirate copy of the game the mods dont gonna work, please buy the game to show support"
>Support for what? Make the worst remaster ever?
Yeah, i fucking hate modder, they are all a buch of little gays, i will never play FF VIII again in my life, i not gonna pay for that lazy shit of remaster, and dont want to play the original neither because is a buggy mess
The whole "No use pirate :(" shit is so fucking asinine. They really don't get it at all. Seeing it in that Bits 'N Pieces thread earlier pissed me off, and so does this shit.
bros nobody is going to put out a mod for a big game like FF and say it's totally cool to use on pirate versions. TTW for New Vegas does the same thing and it's a crock of shit they say to make sure Bethesda never has reason to take the mod down.
Is Adel a woman. She is my fantasy
Adel is STILLHEREBRINGMETHEREIWILLNEVERLEYOUFORGETABOUTME
>that foreshadowing
yes
its impossible for sorceresses to be anything but women
Cool. We have a space ship? Nice. We dont get to kill monsters on the moon with our space ship because MUH LOVE for sideways witch pussy? Fuck right off. I wanna stab a mf witch right in her big witch tiddies.
>Wanting to talk about FF8 instead of FF10 is a very Al Bhed thing to do ya?
>you will never eat the hot dogs at Balamb Garden
I first played this game in March 2021 as part of my going through the series that year. Nice game. I got a nice nostalgic vibe even as I was playing it. Dim battle system that takes a little bit of time getting used to, but the look and feel of the world is very nice. I had fun playing it and it greatly put me at ease.
are my two favourite tracks. Fisherman's Horizon is so good I just had to stop a while and listen to it before continuing. This game is too good for the scum on this board.
Was rinia a virgin or not?
Women are never virgins.
Never finished the game. I think the last thing I remember was the big bad bitch was invading the school or something like that. Someone spoil me. Was Laguna future Squall?
Laguna is his dad.
How'd he make such a loser?
By abandoning his waifu before he knew she was pregnant.
>abandoning his waifu
damn, and here I thought Laguna was pretty cool
Initially it was for a good cause, Ellone had been kidnapped. But then after he saved her, he sent her home alone and stayed in the country that kidnapped her because they made him fucking president. After that, his wife dies and Ellone and Squall become orphans.
>they made him fucking president
After saving the world by banishing Adel to space, mind you.
After pushing Adel.
All the geniuses in Esthar couldn't think of that.
I mean all he did was push Adel, it's not like it was his plan or his machines.
Look he got shit done that's all that matters.
Sorceresses in Esthar before Laguna: 1
Sorceresses in Esthar after Laguna: 0
>before we die
Is something going on that I need to know about?
Did they explained why laguna closed that futuristic city? I cant remember
You're telling me this bitch worshiped his rival's dad?
You know what's weird? The reason there's no radios and tv broadcasts is because they put Adel in space.
Which was after all of the Laguna flashbacks.
So why do we never see Laguna use a radio or watch a tv? It would've been a neat little detail for the lore-savvy players to notice.
