Fullbody is the absolutely WORST version of Catherine, that ruins the theme, story and mood of the game, but also the way more CASUAL one of the bunch.
Same with every single atlus re-release >add new character for no reason >add moronic extra chapter that takes away from the original >add a bunch of other random shit that is more of a distraction than anything else
This exactly. The whole "b-but muh MOAR CONTENT!" thing is absolutely null point when everything feels shoehorned in with no thought on the context.
Can you unpack that?
I played classic back when it originally released.
Same thing for Fullbody, which I enjoyed too. Many years passed and I don't remember shit.
I played the FB not that long ago, having played the original on PS3 several times waaay back in the day. While I still kinda enjoyed the vibes, I constantly had this feeling that something was "off" with the FB. Only after replaying the ORIGINAL soon after finishing the FB a couple times did I start spotting the stark differences in the games.
I did write a HUEG wall of text rant about this around a year ago (that I do have still saved in case yer interested), but the ultimate tl;dr version is:
>Story/characters make no sense in the FB. >Instead of the eerie thriller mood, everything is more "animu haremy" now. >Gameplay is WAY easier now, in many ways. >Rin's a Mary Sue that steals the spotlight and fricks up balance and themes.
Incorrect. Obviously people who've not played both back to back may not notice the differences, so lemme interject here for a bit.
For starters, the "Classic" is pretty much an arcade game.
You need to collect "lives" in order to re-try the mission if you die. And die you will.
The brutal Game Over screen and properly limited Undos only highlight the pseudo "survival horror" style of the game, making the real-life sections at the bar feel even more chill and welcoming.
The gold prices actually demand perfect play with no re-dos, so they feel earned.
FB tones down EVERYTHING.
You got automatic Undos if you "die", and you got unlimited retries. Thus the extra lives have been reworked into extra Undos, which stack up.
Many missions are made easier, with re-designed layouts and new tricks such as being able to push down enemies down while hanging from the edge.
Items are more OP as well, like how a "White Block" actually makes a 3x3 sized platform for you now, instead of just ONE block.
It is piss easy to get Golden prices now, even if you spam UNDO. Game-Overs are only possible if you die while out of Undos... meaning never ever.
Finally, on Easy and "Safety" (Very Easy mode), there's also a literal AUTO PLAY MODE.
Yes, a legit Game-Journalist difficulty setting for people too lazy to play the game. Sure, it's kinda handy to have if you've played the game a few times and just wanna see the alternative endings on a single sit-through... but why not just Youtube them then ?
As a side note, they also greatly reduced the friend interactions during the Bar segments in FB. There's less text messages and such I mean. I guess most people don't care about that?
The one addition I DO quite like in FB's gameplay is the silhouette that shows Vincent's position if he's hidden behind a block, plus the highlighted Edges he can then spider on-to. It was not game-breaking in the OG, but you kinda had to juggle with camera more to see what's going on behind blocks.
NP mate.
I would still like to state that I don't consider FB to be a terribad game, but it certainly should not be anyone's first dive into the Catherine universe.
That being said, I got nearly as long rant walls about the audio-visual presentation and story/characterization elements of FB as well, so there definitely are issues that should be brought up when discussing this game.
I think that if all the new story and character stuff would not be available during the first playthrough, keeping initial run "vanilla" and sneakily introducing the new plot elements in the NG+, it could work so much better. But as they are now, you can definitely see that they just jammed all the new story and character bits into the old foundation, with a sledge hammer.
>As a side note, they also greatly reduced the friend interactions during the Bar segments in FB. There's less text messages and such I mean.
Why would they do that? It was neat to find you could follow up texts and pictures depending on how you answered texts on replays.
The patrons themselves have less to say as well?
Gold Prizes on Normal were fairly easy to cheese on the original, since you could extend the chains by abusing undos and their removal was the single biggest gamechanger when it came to Hard difficulty but you were showered with so many extra lives you'd realistically never run out. It's actually possible to reach 99 lives through casual play.
Can you unpack that?

Just K gays that are still mad after all this time
FB exposes K as the actual prostitute she is in her new ending and then makes her original ending redundant by giving you the happy family ending with C
Basically it proves that K is a mistake
So you do not care about the actual themes and message of the game, missed the point of the characters, and just want a wishy washy "happy" ending with the ultimate Chaos representative, that already was achievable (in a more down-earth way) in original?
Got it. Opinion discarded.
>down to earth >in a SMT game
What the frick are you smoking, this is a game about killing gods and making them your b***hes, it's 100% a power fantasy and the new succubus family ending plays perfectly into that
>SMT game
Completely different IP, champ.
And way to go proving once again that you didn't understand the themes and implications of the original game.
Catherine is hard but you have to bash your head against a wall until you (ironically) sleep on it. You'll get the hang of it eventually OP. I did and I'm a casual moron.
I admit I used walkthroughs during some of the later levels. I'm usually okay with puzzle games but the way you need to anticipate 10 moves ahead can sometimes be overwhelming, or how one seemingly simple block push can suddenly snowball into making the whole level unbeatable and you won't even realize it until you're one block away from reaching the end. Like those early point and click games.
Fun game though.
Why are there so many Catherine thread lately? Anyway just play on easy OP

The gameplay is the exact same with some extra levels added for the Rin route.

Frick off b***h. I'm the true freedom-gay, and FB totally waters down that route AND the C's role, among with many other things.
found the self inserting cuck
fullbody is the best, purely for the fact that I could dick a demon into rewritting reality to become my loving housewife with children

Vincent was in Persona before this game was even made
This is 100% SMT
It have Catherine waifu ending.
So did OG. What are you aiming at?
And are you literally going to ignore everything else for the sake of one short powerpoint moment?
The main game isn't hard just keep trying things until something works.
Its not that deep lol. I prefer Classic but who cares, its roughly the same game.
Catherine is hard but you have to bash your head against a wall until you (ironically) sleep on it. You'll get the hang of it eventually OP. I did and I'm a casual moron.

Trial and error
Am I a bad person for wanting Rin to pull out his fat fricking prettyboy wiener and use it to frick both Catherines with it at the same time?
should have been one of the endings
What's with people claiming Catherine is hard on these threads? It's baby's first puzzle game.
Because it is indeed difficult.
Playing FB on normal
First two puzzles took me 25 minutes each
damnnnnnnn
but its fun as frick
