Other M will always be the worst sequel in the history of entertainment, so that by far and frick anyone who doesn't pick it. >inb4 Ganker gays claim legend of korra
Didn't retcon the entire franchise lore and completely shit on the protagonists
Other M isn't canon though. It's never referenced in Dread. >but adam
He was established before Other M in the made by canon due to Dread, prequel manga that released in 2003.
Nothing that happened in Other M was ever brought up again or referenced in any game that took place post Other M.
With that out of the way.

Choose wisely
I choose to pick a sequel not listed. New Gundam Breaker. If it didn't exist Gundam would have a slightly less shitty representation in the west right now. And the Breaker team might not even be forced to work on the phone game instead.
It's retconned in the same way DMC2 is retconned from the DMC franchise.
No games that take place before or after it speak of it in virtually any way.
In DMC5 when you look at the "story thus far" sort of thing on the main menu. It goes into detail of the events of every game in chronological order. When it gets to DMC 2 segement of the game it pretty much just says "Dante went to Vie de Marli" And then Moves on to DMC4.
The only reason Zelda became open world trash was because Shitward Sword flopped so bad, they also had to abandon the timeline and launch a full scale reboot
>When Zelda 1 came out, the only thing you had to do to be less linear than your contemporaries was be able to scroll in more than one direction >By the time BotW entered development, in order to be less linear than the competition 95% of the game had to be skippable
Without skyward sword, there wouldn't be any real legitimacy to the pushback against "linear" Zelda, so the next sequel would have been a lot closer to OoT formula. Just logically.
Switch metroid other M for fusion and I pick that, gets rid of 2 shitty games instead of 1 and removes the shit influence it had on dread with the emmi making that game go from mediocre to good
Pokemon was already shit by then homosexual, gen 3 ruined it and it was clear to fans back then that fans would never get a good game after how disappointing Colosseum was
>Pokemon XY
Easiest fricking choice of my goddamn life. If they used the hype from XY to push an actually good game shortly after the 3DS hit its stride, there's a very real chance Pokemon could've recaptured Pokemania with a standout game instead of relegating themselves to further and further mediocrity as the years went by.
half the problem was literally not even giving them the 3rd version it needed because the focus was on multiplayer which blows later gens out of the water and because they were transferring all the Pokemon into 3d which future games didn't go through. honestly I'd change x/y and put s/m in the sequel that ruined things.
Gen 6 directly leads to gen 8. Even if gen 6 has its merits, it was blatantly rushed out the door to hit the anniversary. You remember the XYsider leaks? Now remember how many of the themes from that leak made it into gen 7. That's the amount of shit that was planned, but cut, for gen 6. That set Game Freak down a path of experimentation: "How little do we actually have to try for them to keep buying?" Remember that gen 7 was going to ship without trials; there was going to be totem Pokemon just sitting there for you to battle and that would be it as far as progression landmarks. One guy added the trials, nobody else objected to lacking them.
If XY were erased and they applied all the hype they were getting from "first mainline 3D pokemon game!" to a game that was actually worth a shit, say one that released a year or two later, Game Freak would have probably learned the opposite lesson. "We don't need such frequent releases, we need to take more time and make bigger adventures."
as well. Yes, gen 6 was mostly kneecapped by not being finished, but the fact that it wasn't finished is exactly where the problems started.
the thing about that is that it's happened with other gens prior. The difference was that the other gens got a third version or something to fix things. Sure being unfinished shouldn't be a thing but this was more for trying to rush into gen 7.
Gen 6 was the absolute worst case of "this is blatantly incomplete and we need another release to fix it" in the entire Pokemon series. Even if deleting gen 7 made them make a Pokemon Z, the odds are it would sell worse and GF would take the same lesson in the hypothetical offshoot timeline as they did in this one: "Our games sell anyway. Why try?"
I'd agree but clearly they were panicking when instead they wanted to copy yokai watch.

If they just made a decent game on the 3DS to start with, Yo-Kai Watch wouldn't even have been a credible threat to them. Hell, if they'd skipped the 3DS entirely, for mainline games, they'd have eventually seen Yo-Kai Watch implode along with everything else level-5 has ever touched. But fair enough.

smt would be dead, midwit. Persona VASTLY outsells SMT. Without Persona money, do you seriously think you'd be getting high quality SMT games in the modern era of gaming?
>niche = less money = smaller, lower budget games
Are ANY of those traits supposed to sound bad? "Smaller, lower budget games" especially sounds like an objective good.
>Awakening >necessary evil
It made a shit franchise that still isn't anything other than shit popular. And effectively ruined a quarter of Smash's roster. >WoW
Ruined Warcraft entirely >other M
Put Metroid in cold storage for 7 years. Only to be put back in storage after the luke warm Samus Returns for another 4 years.
Sun and Moon are a direct result of XY, so erasing XY would either make them better or make their equivalents better implicitly.
You can see that Smash Ultimate is on the list too.
XY had the issue of not being finished. Half the game was cut. People hoped a Z version would address that. Then Sun and Moon happened with it's issue of being nothing but a cash grab with no effort.
I fully agree with you on TLoU2. It just shouldn't exist. TLoU was best served as a single game experience and nothing more.
XY wasn't deeply unfinished. A great deal of it's bullshit that was cut was still in the code. If they had like 4 more months you would have the other half of Kalos. the online for it was also the best the series has ever had. Only getting worse as time goes on. I love Black and White 1/2 the best also but I don't blame XY as the harbinger of the end. That's entirely on Sun and Moon. Even going to far to release the exact same game again with minor tweeks.
Fire Emblem, by doing so the series could of peacefully passed on and become a nice memory of an ageing group. Also I likely never would of gotten into the series and likely would of finally grown out of anime.
Persona 3 and I didn’t even have to think twice
Persona was never good but 3 is maybe the worst game I’ve ever played and the spiral it sent the series on afterward is one it still hasn’t recovered from. Frick Hashino.
Fallout 3, that wasn't even hard.
The 3rd Birthday aka The Turd Birthday easily
Other M will always be the worst sequel in the history of entertainment, so that by far and frick anyone who doesn't pick it.

Yes it did.

Please tell me this is true and other m was retconned
Other M hasn't been expressly retconned, per se, but literally nothing else in series canon acknowledges it.
It's retconned in the same way DMC2 is retconned from the DMC franchise.
No games that take place before or after it speak of it in virtually any way.

Symphony of the Night so we can have another decade of true Castlekino before the franchise inevitably dies again.
Skyward Sword so we could just skip to BOTW in 2011, and Tears of the Kingdom in 2017, and BOTW 3 in 2023
The only reason Zelda became open world trash was because Shitward Sword flopped so bad, they also had to abandon the timeline and launch a full scale reboot
I think that millennial manbabies whining about muh linearity and sucking Zelda 1 had something to do with it as well
>When Zelda 1 came out, the only thing you had to do to be less linear than your contemporaries was be able to scroll in more than one direction
>By the time BotW entered development, in order to be less linear than the competition 95% of the game had to be skippable
I know. The hypothetical is they just skip Skyward Sword and move to BOTW immediately without having to wait 6 years.
Without skyward sword, there wouldn't be any real legitimacy to the pushback against "linear" Zelda, so the next sequel would have been a lot closer to OoT formula. Just logically.

Gou/sotsu
Not even close
WOW
But if I could add one to the list: Sonic 06 or maybe Dino Crisis 3
ZTD
That was a dissapointment
FFVII easily
One of the most damaging games to the game industry to ever exist
Anyone who doesn't choose Pokemon X/Y is a moron
Pokemon was already shit by then homosexual, gen 3 ruined it and it was clear to fans back then that fans would never get a good game after how disappointing Colosseum was
>gen 3
Emerald was amazing though. It had the best post game in the entire series, and some of the best legendaries ever.
This, the series decline went as soon as they turned 3D.

Other M. Metroid is all ready not a very popular series so it's even more sad to see such bad stain on its record
>Pokémon X/Y
>not Sore/Shit
>implying Gen 6 did more damage to the series than the garbage that is 8
Gen 6 directly leads to gen 8. Even if gen 6 has its merits, it was blatantly rushed out the door to hit the anniversary. You remember the XYsider leaks? Persona 3 hands down
SMT would be saved
smt would be dead, midwit. Persona VASTLY outsells SMT. Without Persona money, do you seriously think you'd be getting high quality SMT games in the modern era of gaming?
Nah.
SMT would still survive.
Just it would be fully niche
>Just it would be fully niche
which is bad. niche = less money = smaller, lower budget games
>niche = less money = smaller, lower budget games
Are ANY of those traits supposed to sound bad? "Smaller, lower budget games" especially sounds like an objective good.
>"Smaller, lower budget games" especially sounds like an objective good.
That means you can't hire big budget composers like Hiroyuki Sawano
I'm not the original anon you were talking to, but I prefer SMTIV's soundtrack anyway.
>FE13+
>and not FE6+
Higurashi Gou/Sotsu, not even a close choice.
I want to KILL Ryukishi.
ez pokemon and skyward sword
no one cares about those games but to be fair theres a lot of other games on the list no one gives a frick about
World of warcraft.
It's the only one that has had a negative impact on not just its own franchise but on other games as well.
All of these were necessary evils
>Awakening
>necessary evil
It made a shit franchise that still isn't anything other than shit popular. And effectively ruined a quarter of Smash's roster.
>WoW
Ruined Warcraft entirely
>other M
Put Metroid in cold storage for 7 years. Only to be put back in storage after the luke warm Samus Returns for another 4 years.

lol
Metroid other M? Skyward sword?
Where is TloU2, Pokemon Sun & Moon? How old is this pic?
Sun and Moon are a direct result of XY, so erasing XY would either make them better or make their equivalents better implicitly.
You can see that Smash Ultimate is on the list too.

Sun and Moon was a cash grab specifically because XY sold well in spite of being so deeply unfinished.
XY wasn't deeply unfinished. A great deal of it's bullshit that was cut was still in the code. Obviously WoW. That's the only one that would actually be impactful.
Pokemon X & Y. You can still feel the repercussions of those rushed titles in today's entries.
Persona 3 and I didn’t even have to think twice
