      >Bayonetta
KINO. One of the best and craziest character action games ever created with an incredible amount of personality, charm, and a sense of fun. Platinium's golden age

      >Dragon Age Origins
KINO. One of the best modern western RPGs ever made with incredible characters, writing, and world. Bioware golden age

      >Resident Evil 5
KINO. The best cop op Resi game ever made by Capcom and when the series still had soul and has the best antagonists and finale of any video game ever made. Cpacom's golden age.

      >Prototype
KINO. An incredibly cool, atmospheric, and original action game that finally utilized the concept of playing as a superhuman, making the player feel powerful, mixed with great mission design.

      >Infamous
KINO. Same thing as with Protope except it utilized the concept of electricity powers instead of shapeshifting and was more streamlined. Came out when AAA devs were still creative.

      >Batman Arkham Asylum
KINO. The very first good video game ever made based on capeshit IP and realized fantastically.

      >Assasins Creed II
KINO. One of the best vidya sequels ever made of how much it improved over the first. It had a good story with colorful characters, a fantastic soundtrack, and art direction. It really showed what Ubisoft could have accomplished if they didn't transform the franchise into a cow.

      >Uncharted 2
The best game in the series. Fantastic characters, great dialogue, amazingly choreographed action, setpieces, fun combat, and tons of collectibles and unlockables. Nought Dog's golden age before they became the absolute trashier they are today.

      >Ghostbusters
The best vidya based on the movie franchise in history.

      >Wet
Had great style, aesthetics, animations, and a good concept for core mechanics. Kind of undercooked in a lot of aspects but I still love it.

Really good year. The gaming landscape started slowly going into a lot of bad trends that plague the industry today but it was a paradise compared to what we have now.

Yeah, maybe we shouldn't post anime or even try to make OC in the old style. Let's just stick with the new trendy wojaks and twitter screenshots, maybe even talk about politics a bit /_
My parents are nostalgic for 80s and 70s, I'm nostalgic for late 90s and early 2000s. People just wants to be happy, times before constant culturewar and such. There being forums for specific games and communities rather than the 3 hellholes of Twitter/Facebook/Instagram and Discord as a nice bonus.
The fact that quite many people here are hostile against people even trying to make OC is fricking depressing. Mods already coinflip ban you for making a thread that might have a chance to get you banned so the fact that Anons here also wants rid of them is just sad.

also, maybe their shit sucks because theyre trying to escape to an idealized past they didnt even have and dont understand. they could do the same types of shit but focus on the current times and maybe start putting themselves together, instead of having nostalgia pity parties where the end result is even more b***hing

Do say where they can even make that kind of stuff? Internet just rolls around the three big sites, you don't have small communities where you can enjoy stuff and have same interest. On top of that culturewar and politics and welcome to personal hell.
          Fricking D I S C O R D is the closest thing you have for that.

Nu-Ganker doesn't deserve OC. This isn't a community. It's a place to shitpost about video games. I learned that long ago.

          I know.
I have gotten 3 bans for posting on STP threads cropped pics with catbox links. Once got banned for making an STP thread with SFW OP pic.
I got a ban for "replying to off-topic thread" when it already had 300 replies and I posted on it asking why the shitty political thread is still up. I had reported it when it had just 40 replies, but didn't even mention it.
I got a ban for posting SFW big booba Utsuho on touhou thread with remixes. (I posted the eurobeat version of her remix)
It is one thing to have a moronic userbase, of course newbies etc. will flood in and act like morons, but the biggest problem comes when moderation team encourages shitty behavior. Be it Yotsuba soijaks or making off-topic political Twitter screenshot threads.
Oh yeah, I also got 30 day ban once for posting this artist's cropped pic. The ban read "moronic pedo" as a reason. So that was also a nice experience

Zoomers had access to older generations as well, just depends on whether or not they had possession of any of that stuff. I typed the same shit out here

Depends on how poor the zoomer's parents are. Growing up my zoomer coworker subsisted on hand-me-down gamecube and N64 games before he was able to buy shit himself, with only tangential exposure to current games at the time.
I was born in '92 and most of my childhood-defining games were from the NES and SNES that were bought second-hand. Super Metroid was released when I was 2 but it was one of my most played games as a child because shit like that gets cheaper than current games. I still got a decent amount of current-gen stuff but my own exposure was limited by the shit PC we had.
As a whole it's fine to paint with a wide brush for a generation, but defining a person's individual play experience by their age is less reliable.

but it's not unreasonable for zoomers to have played a lot of older stuff, especially if you can't afford current gen shit. I wouldn't say it was the typical experience for them as a whole, but they could grow up with things from previous generations as well as their current one.

Zoomers were born in 94-95 depending on the sociologist. It’ll likely be 95. 2009 would be their happiest childhood moments.

      >user data is the new gold rush for internet corporations
      >skinnerbox genres like gacha are extremely popular

      >consoles have no real advantage over PCs anymore and are only popular because of brand marketing, exclusives, affordability, and ease of use by people who are clueless about computers
      >very few sites are creative anymore and most have a flat sterile look so that they are easy to use with touchscreen interfaces
      >more internet traffic comes from smartphones than from PCs

      >most multiplayer games pander to a competitive minority and have a toxic esports scene so that they can make a lot of profit out of it

        >Raycast rendering is more likely to be used so that the expendable programmers at large studios don't have to care as much about light rendering.
That may be the studios opinion but its not really true especially for interiors or buildings or caves etc, with complex moody lighting situations that still need a lot of customization.

Even if the multiplayer game is fun it has to have a backbone of balance or abuses of items and map placements will be employed to annoying even casual players.

          Anonymous

I wonder when will developers will force people to buy RTX-supporting cards given that even now they're still morbidly overpriced.
          >multiplayer
The competitive pandering ruined a lot of them, there's no problem with balance, there's a problem with catering to players that will always find something to complain about at the cost of the rest of the playerbase. Even TF2 which was a nice casual game ended up nerfing and/or ruining a lot of weapons during Jungle Inferno just because competitive players complained about them. The Razorback (a secondary item for Sniper that passively blocks one backstab from a Spy) got a really nonsensical nerf by completely blocking any overheal on Sniper while it's worn, and the only reason is because spies in competitive modes would have to use their shittier revolvers to fight overhealed snipers even though healing a sniper isn't worth it most of the time for a Medic.

            Anonymous

That's not the fault of competitive players that's the fault of the developers or custom mode makers for demanding tournament changes apply to regular game modes, especially for tf2 which has a lower player count for competitive teams then regular game modes anyway.

              Anonymous

Well duh, that's my point, they pander to a minority of the playerbase at the cost of everyone else who plays the game.

                Anonymous

You miss my point, there's no reason to Nerf items or game mechanics outside of competitive, which should be an optional game mode with these kind of changes.
This is the lazy developers fault, not competitive gamer's in general.

The creation of the iPhone and its consequences have been a disaster for cyberspace. The internet was already steadily increasing in popularity in the 2000s but the iPhone, being the first Smartphone to ever gain mainstream appeal, made normalgays adopt the internet in droves across a national scale. Those autists and hobbyists were suddenly becoming vastly outnumbered on their own digital turf and once the vast majority of people on the internet were lots and lots of normalgays, thats when the corparations saw the value of the internet and decided to strike, sterilizing and monopolizing on it. Now those big tech bastards own fricking everything and they've trapped the normalgays into a system of attention seeking and sensationalism all so they can line their own pockets a bit more while we all suffer and pay the price.

Take me back to 2007. I want to play CoD 4, Halo 3, and Team Fortress 2 at their prime.

    >kids ruined everyone
you guys give kids way too much agency. they're subject to forces beyond their control, and so is everyone else. history is a tsunami no one person can resist.

    >There are people posting here who weren't even teenagers during 2009.
Get the frick out of here before it's too late. I spent my teens and early 20s stuck in this shithole instead of socializing and regret it every single day.

2007 was the last pure year, but 2008-2012 was the last era with redeeming elements.

That's a pretty good generalization. It was around that time where my internet was pretty good/fast and the normalgay flood had yet to trickle down into the spaces I occupied.

I will forever associate League of Legends becoming popular with the end of the good days. Was that like 2010?
