Mint was decent training wheels, but I now appreciate there are better starter options with rolling release schedules.

        >Show me your OS being less than 20GB
Windows could be 100gb and it wouldn't matter because space is so cheap. Are you gonna tell me about how linux only uses 1% of the 32gb of ram I have instead of the 2% windows uses? I don't need to compromise my experience because of poorgay hardware like you do for your thinkpad.

The majority of those issues come from nvidia not supporting Wayland. We finally got Wayland support on the 15th when the beta drivers for version 555 released.

We've also had HDR support for a while, if that matters.

We still don't have frame gen, though

HDR support is worse than Windows 10 support, I have one and can confirm this, so might as well be non existent, and Nvidia still has issues with high refresh rate, but I bet most linux user never notice this because they run their shit at 1080p single monitor and 60hz

Software like Windows or student license malware is heavily dependent on getting its users locked into their workflow and ecosystem. Shitty DEs trying to scrape baby ducks off the teats of mommy Wangblows and Mac try to look as much like their respective UIs as possible.

All troonix homies do is screencap they desktop. Why's that?

Wayland won't let them take screenshots of anything else.

      >You have to install it on windows
What the frick is the point then

There just isn't a point to running Adobe. It's goldfish poop that gets dragged into enterprise by students so that their boss pays their subscriptions.
Adobe doesn't want tinkertrannies who obsessively adjust their workflow, they want people who save shit in a proprietary default format and force other people to deal with it.

No it's just straight up better than free alternatives. Believe me, I'd love to avoid having to pirate adobe CC stuff and just use simple FOSS shit but at least with lightroom there's nothing that comes close in the free space.

        How

You have to install it on Windows and then import the folders to your Wine prefix.

          These folder specifically:

          C:Program FilesAdobeAdobe Photoshop 2024
          C:Program Files (x86)Common FilesAdobe

Import this one as well. It should contain some tool-related things, but doesn't stop Photoshop from working if you don't:

          C:ProgramDataAdobe

And then copy these .dll files from Windows and place them in that "C:Program FilesAdobeAdobe Photoshop 2024" folder you imported.

          C:Windowssystem32CoreMessaging.dll
          C:Windowssystem32netapi32.dll
          C:Windowssystem32msvcp110_win.dll
          C:Windowssystem32dsreg.dll
          C:Windowssystem32srvcli.dll
          C:Windowssystem32wkscli.dll

Launch photoshop with Wine and it should work now.

That's the whole point of linux and even if you manage to run photoshop, it will crash regularly, but at least it opens.

So you have to keep a windows installation around to install stuff onto it, then you have to move the files to your linux installation, then you have to copy a bunch of random files and DLLs too, and I assume you have to do this little ritual again any time you want to update as well.

If you have to keep windows around to even get the files then why would you subject yourself to all the other bullshit? Just use it on windows.

Honestly didn't really want to move to Linux, but with the direction things are going with Windows I made the jump 3 years ago.
Wasn't too bad of a move since I had already ran Linux for a few years in the 00s on my main desktop, and used it in VMs regularly.
While the Linux desktop is VASTLY better then it use to be, there are still a few things I very much miss from Windows including AutoHotKey. There is no real analog to it in Linux, but there are some tools that can do some of it's functionality.
