I thought: "Hey, this is good. Now we no longer have to deal with Palpatine cloning himself and some random nobody getting the final kill on him, diminishing the efforts spent in the original trilogy".
Oh, how wrong I was.
All they really had to do was adapt the Thrawn trilogy and have Timothy Zahn write the screenplay for all three movies. Sure, there would have been autistic screeching from Lucas over Mara Jade, but they could ignore that.
>autistic screeching from Lucas over Mara Jade
Wait, Lucas didn't like Mara Jade?

Supposedly he didn't like the authors making her Luke's love interest and allowing the post Empire Jedi to marry and start families

Funny, it felt like the natural evolution for me, considering that it's literally familial love that is able to redeem Anakin.

I always believed that Lucas took it as a attack on his own writing, given he kept insisting that Jedi are supposed to be emotionally stunted space monks
>Now we no longer have to deal with Palpatine cloning himsel
They literally took the worst shit from the EU while copying the original trilogy poorly, I've no idea how it made any money.
It didn't.
Disney's apparently still in the hole for buying Star Wars.

The fault of not profiting is on them because of all the mismanagement and muh agenda

Obviously.
They should've just re-released all of the original films in theaters and on blu ray, then sat on their hands.
They've still never released the original trilogy theaterical editions on blu ray.
Instead they IMMEDIATELY dumped billions of dollars producing and marketing a brand new sequel trilogy that people hated almost as soon as they released. >B-But each movie made a billion dollarydoos!
And Star Wars cost 4 billion dollars to buy for Disney.
Those movies aren't free to make.
It always gets me how the disney shills always point to dark empire as a defense, when it was pretty widely considered a low point in the EU, but that was just because it was bad, it didn't actively shit on the entire series because it was written before all the prophecy shenanigens.
Maybe it's just hindsight (or lowered standards from Disney Wars), but I don't think Dark Empire was really that bad. If Disney had adapted it for the sequel trilogy it would have been a hell of a lot better than what ultimately happened.

Dark Empire at the very least had two things going for it
1) we didn’t know the details behind Palpatine at the time, so him essentially being a dark side revenant that needed to be purged wasn’t quite as stupid as the mortal man who embodied hubris having such a ridiculous backup plan, or even a backup plan in the first place
2) the idea was to have Luke learn something from it, even if the reasoning was incredibly dumb.
Someone somewhere actually had a reason to bring him back and had an idea they wanted to explore, rather than being backed into a narrative corner due to pants on head retarded prior instalments, and being so completely artistically bankrupt that they chose it as a last resort
It's funny, they tried really hard to make these two a threat, but they come off as cartoon villains. DF2:JK's villains were significantly better. That being said, none of them were nearly as satisfying to kill as that absolute gay Rosh Pennin.
>dark side powers are more useful for a light side run >light side is best for a dark side run
Get off my ass, Luke, if I was going to turn evil I wouldn’t waste my time on powers that are just going to get absorbed
At least it's in-keeping with how it's depicted in the movies. >Issue this as the service blaster for basically every soldier in your military across the galaxy >Design it to miss 90% of the time
What did the Empire mean by this?
You used to be able to do forcejump level 4 (the huge fast forcejump npcs do on SP) on academy MP with a modified client. Was really fun until servers started patching it.
Was pretty fun
I remember when I first played Outcast as a kid, I used god mode and so got stuck here as you're supposed to lose. I was getting thrown around for a good 10 minutes before realising it and turning god mode off.
The AI could do super jumps that aren't just level 3 or level 4 force jumps and I swear I did it once but I don't know if it was physics collision fuckery or an actual input I did
It was probably that one exploit where it accepts forward and left/right inputs simultaneously and applies acceleration for both, I don't remember how it works but it's something like that anyway. Apparently everything built off the Quake 3 engine has it.
>Kyle Katarn will never be in a Star Wars game again
Never forget what they took from us
Well you can pretend Andor and Cal Kestis are spiritual successors I guess.
I wrote Disney Star Wars off once they dropped the original EU
Yeah I was joking, obviously.

Love those games
No
Thank Christ, because if he was still being included, he’d be a neutered shell
HOLY FUCKING SHIT FUCKING DINOSAUR JESUS CHRIST WHAT THE FUCK
I can't hold it in, I'm gonna say the Jedi words
O V E R G R O W N
OVERGROWN
IM A POWERFUL SIT-ACK!

Unpopular opinion but Outcast and Academy had pretty stupid shit villians and story
Dark Forces II > Dark Forces I > Outcast = Academy
basado
I think that, while they ARE campy, the importance of acted cutscenes is not to be underestimated.
DARK POWERS BAD
>dark side powers are more useful for a light side run
>light side is best for a dark side run
Get off my ass, Luke, if I was going to turn evil I wouldn’t waste my time on powers that are just going to get absorbed
>Dark/light side runs
Isn't it literally only one bossfight and then an ending dungeon? I'm not sure if it's worth to call that runs.
*misses*
It does pretty good damage though, especially in multiplayer.
Using protect and then unloading on those goddamn jetmorons is incredibly satisfying
Primary fire is pinpoint accurate, you shouldn't be using secondary for anything further away than a few meters
if you use force sense, all your shots become 100% accurate FYI
I've completed Academy like 4 times and WHAAAAAAAAT
yea thats how most people cheese the atrocious prison escape mission
but I liked it...
I liked that mission too, but more to the point, is there any other cool shit force sense lets you do? I know about dodging shots at level 3.
At least it's in-keeping with how it's depicted in the movies.
>Issue this as the service blaster for basically every soldier in your military across the galaxy
>Design it to miss 90% of the time
What did the Empire mean by this?
How is it the weapon's fault if it misses, it still shoots straight as anything else
What kind of gay ass name is Kyle
It's a name for a bantha herder
KOWAKIAN
Jedi Outcast was the worst
>being a tasteless monkey lizard
>Muh dark side
No such thing
There's no such thing as the LIGHT side, there's only the force and the dark side.
I played the shit out of this game's demo, since it was set in a full level that was totally unique to it
And it had full console commands that let me spawn in storm troopers and shit to just keep slashing up. I was so easily amused back then.
That mirror floor room was sex
I was actually disappointed when I pirated the game and the demo wasn't one of the levels in it.
god me too, played it maybe 100 times or something
Are you really trying when you name your sci fi villain Galak Fyyar?
They did take the Empire Reborn faction from the Crystal Star novel and made them an actual threat.
>Mind Trick can go up to level 4 with dev commands

Fucking same, young-gamer-me reached for the cheats by default on most games
