What happens when a ditto turns into a maushold? The gimmick is the Pokemon it turns into has dot eyes but maushold already has those?
That’a a misconception started by a single episode of the anime showing off a defective ditto, which was then brought over to the live action movie, and I think there are also disguised ditto plushies that are like that. But Ditto transformations having dot eyes is NOT game canon.

The anime is popular, so things from that were ported back. Pikachu using the anime voice for a decade is the most blatant, but hardly the only one.

The individual Pokemon themselves just look like stuffed toy mice. Falinks dudes look like Kirby enemies but at least that's still video games. These are just toys.
Also Exeggcute sucks balls and is only behind Voltorb in terms of worst gen 1 designs.
Who dislikes them for not making sense? They're just really boring as a design. I don't mind that the devs wanted a Pokémon to reference to Sylvanian Families, but there's nothing that makes them stand out beyond that. They're literally just a Sylvanian Families reference and that's it, there was no attempt whatsoever to do anything interesting with the idea.
Falinks and Exeggcute look like they are attached to each other and have a cohesive body shape, they aren't separate animals
These are just a bunch of rats standing close to each other, each of them is a distinct animal with a recognizable body shape and they look like they can easily detach from each other - which in fact they do.
They are not a single pokemon and they will never be comparable to Magneton/Dugtrio/Exeggcute/Falinks
Falinks is probably the worst of these in that regard, and even it doesn't come close to being as nonsensical looking as these stupid rats
This is not even taking into account how they just look like some tiny plushes i could find in a random shop, they don't look like pokemon and i refuse to consider them pokemon.
Worst pokemon of gen 8 which manages to be incredibly insulting despite having an extremely bland design, that's quite the accomplishment.
