>not using the 60fps mod and let it rock at a stable 60fps
No reason not to, i can understand if you're traveling and want to save as much battery as possible
just use the fricking microsd card and drag and drop
you wintoddlers are fricking embarrassing
Has Switch emulation gotten better on it or something? I tested it back when I got my deck back in July and Xenoblade 2 ran like ass in both Yuzu EA and Ryujinx.
switch emulation is better than it was back then, but dont expect xenoblade 2 or 3 on the deck any time soon.

I can’t get some torrented games to work even through they’re rated verified for the deck. Is there something I’m supposed to install? I’m just running them through lutris and wine right now. The game is code vein btw
I haven't figured out how to run .exe's either. I read that you either have to do some complex shit with the command prompt or with some shit called "wine bottles" or something so I just gave up on it for now... -_-
Download lutris on the deck, from the discover store
Install the game on your PC and move the install directory to your deck
Open lutris, click the + sign and add the exe
Click play. If it does, add a steam shortcut if you want
This method works for 80% of games for me. Good luck

It’s a little tricky at first but I’ve since become well versed. There’s many methods to try, one is to simply add the entire directory of a previously installed on windows game and use steam add non steam game to library with compatibility mode forced to proton. This has worked well. Other option is to use lutris and install through that. And also there’s an option where you use the first method but instead you add the setup or installer file to steam and install it into steam using compatibility mode then point to the installed wine exe after
I know.. it’s tricky but this really is not a PlayStation- it’s for power users
Literally nothing. That other guys post is all shit nobody has even fricking heard of, so not even worth a mention. This is a high quality handheld that lets you mod the frick out of it with zero effort made by a company that arguably has the most staying power in the industry. It doesn't matter what meme handheld some dip shit anon here says. It's not a machine made by Valve.
Not to mention warranty. If you have a problem with one of those Chinese handhelds you're fricked. They will try very hard to weasel their way out of honoring it. Plus they're much more expensive to begin with.
For current games?
Any PC higher-spec than a shitbox that someone’s mom bought for them during Best Buy’s back to school sale.
For emulation?
Any generic emubox, CFW Vita, Soulja Boy handhelds, etc
everyone just emulates BOTW using the wiiu version so you can get 40+ fps
but i'd say 75-80% of the switch library runs full speed or is perfectly playable for the genre (digimon survive for example only runs 40 fps during the combat sections but it's a tactical rpg)
games that didn't run full speed for me were random VNs and SHMUPs. 92/125 games for me worked through some combation of the yuzu EA app image and ryuujinx openGL
>ordered mine today
Lads it ships fast. I don't even know what to install or play first. I definitely want to download a somewhat demanding game just to see what this thing is capable of. I'm thinking Deep Rock Galactic, Metroid Exodus, and Project Zomboid? Bros I'm pumped. First new system I've bought since my Switch in 2017
It basically already doesn't run much better on my actual PC. Is the port still pretty unoptimized? I haven't touched that game in months since I beat it.
dont hype yourself for some graphical powerhouse. 40 fps is actually oddly smooth, i was a pc gay who refused to go below 60, but if your game wont make 60, 40 fps is oddly smooth compared to 30. you need some beta branch or something to get the 40 to show up on the frame locker.
Nah I know it's still just a handheld and I know pushing the thing will only lead to a faster battery drain. But I have a huge backlog and the Deck is going to help a bunch with clearing that up. Also I can finally try and get the 7 Day Survivor achievement in Dead Rising
>15 hours into the game >yeah now is where i stop and take a photo for Ganker, just so they know
yeah. im not pulling out my eck to show you 40 hours on the ick in nightmare reaper
No one here plays past the honeymoon phase. You've all either moved back to PC or resumed sulking. I am not wrong and this is the truth. I will not listen to rebuttals of any kind and will think you're gay regardless.
That’s friends online. No one goes online really bro, cmon. I’m not even that guy, but I always only see one online friend too. Keep a tight friends circle, unlike groomers like you
Do you want to see my screenshot? I dunno how many hours you need to 95% main story of Spider-Man remastered
I think most deck posters are playing with their decks tbh, it’s addictive, I just try to check in and see the thread because I do also love this little thing
New Steam Survey is out.
Deck up to 13.72% of GNU/Linux users on Steam, and GNU/Linux is up to 1.27% total, about 1.8 million.
Some of that is probably on Valve removing fake Chinese Windows 10 accounts padding out the numbers. Its down 4% and Windows as a whole is down .8%.
This means that GNU/Linux grew slightly faster than creation of fake accounts in China, and that the number of Steam Decks that have actually gotten a survey is up to somewhere between 250k and 300k. Still an undercount, but it seems to be growing rapidly. Already the most used distro and most used GPU among GNU/Linux users.
you don't need power tools. you can legit brick your deck. just go into dolphin, disable dual core on per game settings and you get the same performance.
I was just playing ninokuni2 and anyone who says it's even close to as good as 1 is a fricking liar. Playing Pokemon black on my 3ds and than dq11 on my steamdick
by default powertools isn't really doing much for you
dolphin only uses 3 cores, so turning off SMT and dropping the threads to 3 or 4 will be better use of your power
switch only uses 6 etc.
I tried playing metal arms through dolphin and fiddling with powertools and all dropping the threads/turning off smt did was make the CPU hotter and didn't affect fps at all
what gives?
can't speak for that particular game but not only do you want to drop the threads like you've done, you will likely want to turn on CPU boost to make their output greater. you may also want to use the steam overlay and set the GPU clock to 1200 or higher (sometimes you have to toggle it on and off for it to stick)
but if a game is already performant enough you should err on the side of caution when using CPU boost.
not every game needs it and sometimes (pokemon snap on the switch) certain sections will cause it to ramp up to like 25W and make your fans hit 6000+ rpm when it runs just fine with it being off.
but yea toggle on persist and per-game profile settings and you shouldn't have to worry about settings accidentally bleeding over into other games.
I did all that and it still made no difference besides making the CPU hotter, whereas in fzero GX both of those things made noticeable performance improvements
also isn't CPU boost enabled by default, even without power tools?

uh anons? My default settings for Power tool threads is 8 and max boost is set to 2.8 (highest setting for both).
I tried changing it but it seems to always just default back to 8 cores and 2.8hz. How do I force this to change when it turns on?
I always have it running with 8 cores and 2.8ghz since I cant force it to change on reboot.
isn't CPU boosting for the deck on by default even without power tools?
also turning off CEF debugging in dev settings outright disables powertools and decky doesn't it?
spiderman remastered is fricking awesome at all very love it can keep an almost stable 40fps. game doesn't even look bad tbh. it can imagine the performance will get better as they update it
yeah ignore that shit. go to properties on the game you want to run, then combability and select either proton 7 or proton ge. If you ever have issues check protondb for help
steam button>right button on dpad over to 'controller settings>controller settings>edit layout -or- click the name of the current layout R1 over to "community layouts" and try out stuff other people have made
What should I play on my deck?
I just set it up
are there any guides?
most of my games are yellowed
Gradius Gaiden for the PS1.
this is a pretty decent intro guide
when you want to get into emulation check out
Xenoblade chronicles x. Blows my mind what this thing can do.
Been playing Track Mania using Lutris
It runs perfect at low settings, never drops from 60 fps, love it
>not using the 60fps mod and let it rock at a stable 60fps
No reason not to, i can understand if you're traveling and want to save as much battery as possible
What do you guys use to transfer roms and such from windows to the deck?
Warpinator from Discover on the decker, Winpinator on Windows
Yep, best and fastest method. Was kind of a b***h to get working at first though.
just use the fricking microsd card and drag and drop
you wintoddlers are fricking embarrassing
switch emulation is better than it was back then, but dont expect xenoblade 2 or 3 on the deck any time soon.
>just use the fricking microsd card and drag and drop
Samba sucks ass for large file transfers
i used to use warpinator but it stopped working
i use syncthing now
Has Switch emulation gotten better on it or something? I tested it back when I got my deck back in July and Xenoblade 2 ran like ass in both Yuzu EA and Ryujinx.
Probably not worth the weight since the JSAUX "6 in 1" dock has feature parity with the official one. Also made of metal
then why is the official dock taking so fricking long?
They're probably too overwhelmed trying to produce enough steam decks to meet demand to worry about also producing the dock.
What are some good Diablo likes on Steam? I’m in the mood to just smack some loot pinatas while laying in bed and watching tv.
As for me, it's Ys VI
Path of Exile is free, the current season sucks ass but standard league is always a good time
Touch grass
I can’t get some torrented games to work even through they’re rated verified for the deck. Is there something I’m supposed to install? I’m just running them through lutris and wine right now. The game is code vein btw
why are you not running them through steam with proton?
I’ve discovered that if it doesn’t work on Wine, it won’t work in steam/proton
I haven't figured out how to run .exe's either. I read that you either have to do some complex shit with the command prompt or with some shit called "wine bottles" or something so I just gave up on it for now... -_-

Aya neo is better in every way
so what is the decks competition?
Aya (neo), Ayn Odin line, maybe lategame Anbernic, that shitty Logitech streaming UMPC that got leaked.
Literally nothing. That other guys post is all shit nobody has even fricking heard of, so not even worth a mention. Any PC higher-spec than a shitbox that someone’s mom bought for them during Best Buy’s back to school sale.
For emulation?
Any generic emubox, CFW Vita, Soulja Boy handhelds, etc
How emulatable are Switch titles now?
Can you play Breath of the Wild without bugs yet?
You can always emulate the wiiu version anyway.
everyone just emulates BOTW using the wiiu version so you can get 40+ fps

BOTW doesn't work so good on traditional PCs as it is since there's no incentive to emulate that one when it runs better on CEMU.
For the record it runs fine on CEMU on Switch Deck.
$700 vampire Survivors machine, ofc

Elden Ring at 30FPS is pretty doable
It basically already doesn't run much better on my actual PC. Is the port still pretty unoptimized? I haven't touched that game in months since I beat it.

Me when the ladies swoon
why is every Deck game screenshot never more than three hours into the game they're showing?
>15 hours into the game
>yeah now is where i stop and take a photo for Ganker, just so they know
yeah. im not pulling out my eck to show you 40 hours on the ick in nightmare reaper

i'm nearly 400 hours clocked on my deck
when does the honeymoon end exactly?
Pics or it didn’t happen.
k
>400hrs invested
>zero anime tiddie Pantsu-Quest games
Anon, I am disappoint.
no good stat tracking sites for those
I’ll take your word and let it slide this time, anon.
But don’t ever let me catch you straying from the path of tiddies and pantsu in the future.
i'll do my best
I remember this post from last night and downloaded this game
It was a nice fap. Thanks for the unintentional reccomend
based fap anon
how do you run jap h games? can you get local emulator on it?
followed this
What site or app is this?
backlogg'd, but you have to autistically stat track it yourself
All of these hours were on deck
>friends
>1
That’s friends online. No one goes online really bro, cmon. I’m not even that guy, but I always only see one online friend too. Keep a tight friends circle, unlike groomers like you
anon do you need more friends? I can be your fren
Thats just friends currently playing a game, I have 40 on my list in total
Do you want to see my screenshot? I dunno how many hours you need to 95% main story of Spider-Man remastered

okay moron
you reading comprehension is fricking laughable, troon.
Stfu by boyfriend was bricking his deck into my core while I was typing and I got mixed up.
Are you a boy or a girl.
when did you realize FSR 2.0 was the future
Do you fricking homosexuals just play games to see what performance you can get? How can you play with a massive box over the game?
no just to showcase that it can run at framerates higher than native
man that game ran like fricking DOGSHIT on the switch lmao. I literally could not get through it because of that.
yeah its' a shame
even on the deck at 40 it's nice but i can't help but feel how great this would be with a native pc port
>a turn based jrpg dropped frames so it's unplayable
this is clown town
I was just playing ninokuni2 and anyone who says it's even close to as good as 1 is a fricking liar. Playing Pokemon black on my 3ds and than dq11 on my steamdick
The first game was not good to begin with unless you are an inexperienced child who enjoys constant hand holding.
It was cute. 2 is not cute and looks like a fricking unity asset flip
Nah you just sound like a miserable sack of shit.
Sorry, sack-of-shit anon 🙁
And you are a legitimate child if you think Ni no Kuni is above average.
Anyone else just keep Powertools default settings? What reasons would you have to turn them off?
What's a powertools?

'ick on 'eck
I don't have an SD right now
how fricked am I?
spiderman remastered is fricking awesome at all very love it can keep an almost stable 40fps. game doesn't even look bad tbh. it can imagine the performance will get better as they update it
wtf was that shit i just typed
recently reinstalled Unreal Tournament 3 and got my freakin mods going and everything. fun game is very fun
Best Deck alternatives?
Must have Steam!
Why? Chinese alternatives are all more expensive and made by shady companies. You'll waste more money and you're sol if you ever need to RMA it.
Not to mention most of the chink devices use Intel graphics
t. Own a winmax, a deck, and a onexplayer and love them all
>implying the GabenSwitch isn’t made by Chinese companies
Lol
Just reserve it and wait patiently
I just got my deck
someone please explain this "proton" thing to me
It says in my library I can only play like 10 games
yeah ignore that shit. go to properties on the game you want to run, then combability and select either proton 7 or proton ge. If you ever have issues check protondb for help
>select either proton 7 or proton ge
how do I choose?
Shin Chan
Which proton does Ringo's game run the best in?
Is there a way to change controls in game?
I'm trying to play wrought flesh but the controls are set right for deck
steam button>right button on dpad over to 'controller settings>controller settings>edit layout -or- click the name of the current layout R1 over to "community layouts" and try out stuff other people have made
