No, he meant flawlessly. I finished the game without problems before the release.
Yes, it had problems on day 1, but it was quickly fixed and around 3 days before release it was pretty much perfect.
For me it was Metroid Dread running flawlessly 60fps 4k a week before launch.
>DOOD I GETTA PLAY THE LATESTE NITENDO GAME A WEEK BEFORE LAUNCH FOR FREE EVEN I ONLY PAYED $600 FOR MY GEN 1 DECK THO
steam deck is for video game addicts.
so what do you call going on Ganker for 16 hours a day? whether or not you play video games youve clearly built a personality around it that you can't share with anyone other than basement dwelling pedophiles online
I just don't feel like giving Spike money for a new Danganronpa game - which is why I won't be buying it on my Switch. My enthusiasm for the series has waned, so I'm going to pirate it
lol yeah, being serious for a minute, it runs a like..15-25fps, but I think botw is a rough game to emulate generally and needs to be bruteforced a lot in yuzu. We can't 100% say the same will be true of the new one, but I honestly don't see Nintendo using a upgraded form of the engine used, or coding it any better. This is Nintendo, it's just going to be a glorified expansion pack and people will eat that shit up.
You keep posting this. No one gives a shit about Kirby. It's a game made for literal children. I know people say that all the time about Nintendo games but it's literally made for fricking babies. They are piss easy boring games with slow animations and zero depth. I don't understand how anyone over the age of 10 enjoys them
The only thing I ever see people post about this stupid thing is it supposedly emulating switch games. All the footage I've seen of this emulation seems pretty garbage though. Why would you buy a $400-$650 device to emulate switch games? I think you'd get more bang for your buck by just buying an actual switch and hacking it.
Yeah I already have a hacked Switch. I got a Steam Deck to play the huge amount of more under powered games, or AAA games while connected to a power source. It's very comfy and fun
Not everyone is a poor Black person and us showing that we can emulate switch games is just to show you how useless the switch really is after the deck.
Not got one yet, but as this is SVE, and I plan to corner the booze market, it's gonna be the girl who runs the bluemoon vineyard, whatever her name is. I don't want the competition.
Why is the screen so small? I feel like any real game would be suffocated on that puny screen. I’m gonna wait for the version 2 and let everyone else beta test this thing.
You say this every single time I post a pic, and I always ask you what you are talking about. You never reply. This is the most baffling shitpost I have ever seen. Kudos.
Slapped emudeck on an SD card yesterday. What's the best way to fiddle with emulator settings? I'm getting a bit of stutter on N64 roms and I wanna bind one of the back buttons to quicksave/reload
If you used steam rom manager there should be a folder in your collections called emulation where you can launch them standalone. N64 uses retroarch though and I think you can bring up the menu in game with L3 +R3. I usually just use steam input to bind the grip buttons though.
Considering you can upgrade the SSD yourself, is the anti glare screen worth buying the most expensive edition?
I don't give a shit about the bag or the community stuff.
Mine just came in today with no notice from FedEx. I'm extremely impressed so far with both the quality and the responsiveness of everything. Currently installing a bunch of shit from my library, then I'll install Yuzu and all the other emulators
Because you can buy a switch TODAY but you have to wait 5 months for a deck. I am a deckgay but even I can see the difference. I do think it is worth the weight though.
PC is almost crippling with how much choice you have and how cheap or outright free they can be, not mention modding and plethora of other benefits. The sooner consoles die off the better everyone will be.
What's the battery like on these things? I feel like portable gaming since the Switch has had like 2 hours of battery life and everyone is just accepting it even though that's complete shit.
A graphics intensive game with wifi on, bluetooth on and rumble makes it last 2 hours, disabling any of those makes it last way more, I clocked over 4 hours of The Witcher 3 on a single charge with all those off.
It can vary. Playing modern AAA games is two hours or less without tweaking. You can add 45 minutes to an hour playing at 40 HZ refresh rate locked or 30 FPS locked. Older games and indie games and it can easily last 5 hours or more with the same tweaking
Just got mine in the mail. I have been so fricking busy that I had no time to do the research that I wanted to on setting this thing up. Is there some kind of guide that Ganker has made for getting started with this? Resources to look at? I plan to mostly use it for fighting games.
Yeah I'm sure the normal Steam stuff is very simple. Mostly talking emulators and any kind of solutions I might need to know about to get games to run.
I want to plug my pads/sticks into it and stand it up. I travel to a lot of fighting game events and bringing a PS4 and monitor everywhere is very annoying.
what are you talking about moron

You literally need all of those with a laptop if you're actually gonna play games. Don't tell me you're bragging about gaming on some shitty 15 inch garbage laptop screen, a laptop keyboard and trackpad? Lmao.
So let me ask you for the third time you colossal moronic homosexual, what is the purpose of your shitty gaming laptop? You're literally so dumb and moronic you can't name a single scenario where a laptop is more useful than a desktop.

Ironic coming from a low IQ mongoloid that claims a laptop is a replacement for a handheld, yet breaks down like a little homosexual b***h when told a desktop is a straight up replacement for his homosexual gaming laptop. Don't like being obliterated in your own game huh?
What games run well that are like Skyrim or Assassin's Creed
like where you just go collect stuff in an open world and do quests
But it's repsawning enemies
No actual FPS like Borderlands but first person view is fine like Skyrim
But not Skyrim
Here's a tip: Go into the power management settings, enable the per game power profile and turn down TDP and GPU clock to minimum and turn on variable shader on for games that can run on toasters like Dead Cells, VVVVVV, Slay the Spire, Binding of Isaac, etc. to get maximum battery life with minimum heat without any impact to performance. You'll see those games normally use up like 2% of CPU with default power settings start to use 50% which is what you actually want because you're otherwise wasting the power.
>it's another episode of the deck can't connect to Steam
Honestly this is my only issue with it
I've disabled power saving mode
I can get about 220-240 download on a fricking macbook and yet this fricking thing shits itself trying to get the internet
Well, internet to steam only
wifi in general is fne for me
I reserved one couple of weeks ago, I have some questions.
How limiting is the read only files on the OS, is there any chance steam will change that. Can i avoid steam mode? I don't wanna put every game I wanna play inside steam. I wanna use emulators without having to open steam. I heard even installing wine is hard because of read only, is that true?
You have full control over your system and os, you can do whatever you want with it. You don't have to use steam mode at all if you don't want to and you can make all files read and write if you want.
This is technically true, you can turn off read only but then any update will erase anything you place outside the user folder. So turning off read only is pretty much useless.

Whatever emudeck set it up as, I haven't checked. I have tried Tri, but I haven't had any problems emulating anything with dolphin thus far. Biggest issue I've had is loading the initial shaders can make things stutter a smidge, but that's temporary.
Nothing. It just blacked out and won't come back on while I was playing No Man's Sky. I don't want to invalidate the warranty so I'm not going to open it up, gonna have to return it.
>Valve could have just used Windows as a base so we wouldn't have to deal with all this Linux Proton combability nonsense >they just had to go against the current because microsoft is le evil!

Would have also had far more fricking issues than you know
Windows 10/11 is not, at all, touch/pad friendly
Not to mention the massive performance hits
microsoft literally wants to destroy their store by forcing all software to be sold through their own store. They are an existential threat to their business.
no, it's a device for addicts. people that are lost in entertainment. thats why they sped $600 for a niche device that lets them play games a week earlier.
The Switch version of BotW doesn't even hit 20 fps HAHAHA
You aren't playing TotK on your deck. Have fun selling it for an actual graphics card. Valve lost.
there is no disinfo. the wii u version runs fine on deck from what i've seen, but TotK isn't getting a wii u version lmaooooo

Let me break it down for you kiddo.
The Switch is will soon be going into its 7th year on the market and uses a 2015 SoC. The cheapest Switch is $200. Comptetive phones and tablets cost $1,000.
The problem is not a single phone or tablet game offers higher fidelity visuals than a Switch game. Or sustainably higher framerate. Take something like Fortnite, 60fps mode runs on the top phones made in the past couple years. The resolution is a little higher than Switch but the fidelity is lower. After 30 minutes of play, the framerate drops to 30 frames per seconds due to throttling because phones are fabless and it’s too fricking hot.
Phones and tablets.don’t have the cooling solution to allow for their objectively better hardware to surpass the 2017 Switch. On average, smartphone games only have a slight resolution advantage and most games still don’t render in native resolutions anyways. They’re fanless and get too hot needing to throttle which kills performance. They have an Android and phone overhead that gimps performance. They have small batteries that drain to nothing under load. And they have shittier graphics drivers than what nvidia offers. They do offer way better CPU performance but it throttles too under load. Nvidia’s GPU in the switch and the 4GB of RAM which matches most expensive phones, are two reasons why the Switch is more than competitive 6 years later.
Then consider something like the steam deck, which on paper is technically superior. But the terrible optimisation and stability of Switch emulators can barely run on on high end desktop rigs. On the Deck Switch emulators run like absolute shite and drain the battery in around 20 minutes.
TL:DR you're full of shit and clearly a seething Nintendo hater.

Lmao no. Devices like Ayn Odin are 200$-300$, and they not only emulate Switch, but also every other Nintendo console.
>The problem is not a single phone or tablet game offers higher fidelity visuals than a Switch game. Or sustainably higher framerate.
There are a ton of mobile games that run at 90 or even 120 fps. There are zero Switch games that run at 90 or 120 fps.

Again wrong, phones and tablets have all sorts of cooling solutions, from internal fans that exist in certain chinkphone brands, to external fans, cooling pads, etc.

Again posting 5 year old information.

I read something online about how my internet speeds might be too fast for my older Microsd to keep up with as well. Which would explain why it would have occasionally hang ups downloading. Alright I was pissed but I'm calmed down now. Love my Deck bros but the software really does need some work. Should I only ever be using the stable builds?

yeah that's pretty much it, what you need is something that can sustain the writes. Take a look at the links here, they can explain it in more detail.

Damn, that's a really useful image. Thanks anon.
I've got the 256 coming in, so I shouldn't need an SD card if I don't go crazy with my installs.
I have all my emulators and ROMs/ISOs on an external HDD. Can I just plug that to a Steam Deck to play the games, instead of transferring them? I'd save a lot of space.
Yeah I do have a hub. I don't mind having a cable as long as it's just a short one, since I'm planning on playing in bed. Plus I'll probably play while charging it quite often.
The deck has a dual boot of sorts. There's Steam OS which is like a more traditional game OS, and then there's the Linux OS, Linux uses Proton to emulate Windows games, so almost anything running on a normal P.C setup should work on the Linux OS side of the Deck. TL;DR, pirated games should work the same as windows, mods and all, just trickier to set up.
The software for this thing is fricking terrible. Forget the thought of ever even downloading right to a Micro SD card. It causes so much issues, it's unreal. Constant hang upside freezes, downloads stopping and starting, forcing to do hard restarts..can't even stop the download or uninstall the game as it'll just freeze. Genuinely terrible.
Idk what you're talking about, I have a 1 TB SD and I installed like 20 games, some 80+ GB, and they all load fast and don't freeze. It took like 1 minute to format the card and it automatically added it as a drive to my Steam library, and even made it my default drive. pebcak.
what is it even good for? cant play pirated pc games? cant emulate switch games higher than 3 fps? software buggy POS that crash for hours? battery drains in 20 minutes?
This is actually what I'm thinking. It was the one I had in my Switch for a few years. I finally got the game download freezing stopped and uninstalled it from the SD card and reinstalled it on the Deck storage itself. I think if I just do it this way I can just transfer it over after and have zero issues. It might just be the micro SD that's bunk because I have zero of these issues with hardware itself. In fact the hardware is incredible, the only issues I've ever had with this thing are software..games run and work phenomenal.
>accidentally made the mistake of installing a game directly to the sd card >haven't been able to use the steam deck for 2 hours from the constant pausing, hard resets, software completely freezing and locking the device, and can't even uninstall or stop the download of the game because of that
$650 for something that barely works. Incredible. Think I could sell it for $750? I've only had it a week.

I'm new to linux and putting my dick on electronics, haha.
Shut up homosexual. The deck shits on switch. The switch is essentially for children, manchildren, and trannies now. The two latter of which play to prey on the kids.
I think what it boils down to is that the Switch is just like a troony - a poor imitation with tons of limitations and annoying quirks while the Deck is the real thing top to bottom, real breasts, real ass, real freedom from walled garden troony bullshit
What's funny is that you can take the Deck hate narrative and apply it to the Switch, but for some reason this board likes to pretend that there aren't daily threads shitting on the Switch.
the switch deserves the hate, nintendo's anti consumer antics warrant it

>>Is it easy to switch between android and regular switch? Which would you want to run emulators on? Would they both run emulators well? And would Genshin and Mobile Legends run well on it?
for me, yes it is easy. I just hit restart and the switch boots into its menu for picking what payload. I swap sd cards at that point but you can just keep 2 partitions on the same sd card. You you ever shut down or let that battery die you have to plug it into a computer to reenable all the hacks but itll play your own cards or owned downloads fine if you dont immediately have access to a computer.
it can run emulators but ive done nothing crazy. Ive never played wither of those games. I only use it for codmobile and stadia
>I kind of want one even though i'm already waiting on a steam deck. I think the dock for the odin looks neat especially with the ports for n64 and gamecube controllers. But another android device may not be something I that really need.
Mine sits happily alongside my deck. They're really different devices, and I refuse to use the deck for emulating anything below 6th gen, anyway.
The dock looks great, and I love the integrated space for a hard drive on it, but I don't like the weird plastic bit.
It's kind of a waste. Emulating older stuff on the deck is just a waste of space and honest better suited to something smaller and sleeker. If the Odin does it just as well, while also being smaller and lighter, I will use that.

This is the way I feel. I'll probably keep any emulation I do to that era and up as well. I've got so many PC games I want to try that I may not get around to emulation for several months, anyway.
Please don't pirate Nintendo products. Nintendo is the most important player in this business right now, and we need to support them all we can.
They need us to support them, because they need us as much as we need them.
>Oh boy, I can't wait for this game to release so I can very poorly emulate it just enough to get a picture of the first 5 minutes of the game and use that to endlessly shitpost! What do you mean you'll actually play the game??
Pathetic
So is the switch games the only games worth running on Deck? Seems to be the only reason people post deck. What other games do you guys play on it? I mostly seen Vampire survivors to be one of the most popular game to play on it.
I probably play through my turn based games on a Steam Deck.
They are just desperately trying to avoid admitting that only nintendo makes worthwhile games, and that pc gaming and valve have been the worst influence on gaming ever.
I'm getting my Deck next week I think, but I didn't expect I'd get it this early. What can/should I do when I get it, obviously I'll watch some video on emulation, but anything else I need on it?
If you're talking about accessories, you'll probably want a Bluetooth keyboard, a micro SD card depending on your internal storage, and a USB-C hub with HDMI out if you plan on connecting it to a monitor or TV
They need to justify buying it, i guess.
[...]
Nice thanks. I would rather see thread about other things than switch emulation on Deck. So good to hear that some other games are also running on it.
[...]
I could do that on my big ass smartphone.
[...]
Really? I thought at least it would have an offline mode just like the regular steam client.
If I post a picture proving you wrong will you admit you were wrong or will you ignore it and spam your moronation in the next thread?

a picture doesn't prove shit. the evidence is all there in the video. you can't even launch some games in offline mode like some Origin games. it's easy to be misleading with an image because you could launch the game online and then go offline afterwards, or simply be showing a screenshot of a game. cap.

Anonymous
So you're saying games that are reliant on a different company's servers can't be launched offline? How is that the fault of the Deck in any way, why aren't you blaming the developers, or using your brain and realizing this is necessary for some games? I'm able to launch games like Dead Cells, Enter the Gungeon, Gunfire Reborn, Deep Rock, BO3, and BO2 without any internet connection just fine and play
2 years ago
Anonymous
where did i blame the deck? i said it's a piece of shit because of those reasons. it's literally impossible to play every purchased game offline due to garbage nature of pc gaming and DRM. a handheld shouldn't have these problems. the switch doesn't have these problems, neither did the 3ds, vita, psp and so on.

>switch
any game you purchase that "streams" to the device can only be (poorly) played with an internet connection, along with games like Dauntless
The fact of the matter is most people aren't buying this to play those games, and even if they are they're fully aware of the requirements anyway. 99% of my library, along with all my non-steam games and emulators do not require an internet connection
i hope you're getting paid for your marketing and lies
I deleted my wifi password info
I turned off wifi
I turned on airplane mode
I start a game on my deck
I start a game on my computer
get message that my Deck is playing a game and I can't play on my computer
How does it know everything is turned off and it has no connection to the outside world?
Hell yeah deckbros, can't wait to wait for console scraps like always
Hey remember when Yuzu had SMT:V before the switch did? That was awesome.
The same thing happened with Xeno 3, didn't it?
>The same thing happened with Xeno 3, didn't it?
if you like a 5fps unplayable mess
No, I don't play weeb garbage
if you only play western games, how have you not killed yourself yet
For me it was Metroid Dread running flawlessly 60fps 4k a week before launch.
>flawlessly
You mean with crashes, stuttering and without cutscenes?
No, he meant flawlessly. I finished the game without problems before the release.
Yes, it had problems on day 1, but it was quickly fixed and around 3 days before release it was pretty much perfect.
>before the switch
how do you think it leaked? they just popped a switch cartridge into an sd card slot?
Almost every switch game leaks a few days before release
again how do you think it leaked? they just popped a switch cartridge into an sd card slot?
>DOOD I GETTA PLAY THE LATESTE NITENDO GAME A WEEK BEFORE LAUNCH FOR FREE EVEN I ONLY PAYED $600 FOR MY GEN 1 DECK THO
steam deck is for video game addicts.
Imagine getting btfo'd so hard you result into damning the very thing you're a fan of.
so what do you call going on Ganker for 16 hours a day? whether or not you play video games youve clearly built a personality around it that you can't share with anyone other than basement dwelling pedophiles online
Yeah, I remember threads of people b***hing about visual bugs, crashes, and saves failing. Fun times.
Real deck thread when?
we'll be making one soon, let this non-standard thread die off
I'd prefer an answer from someone that's not a schizo.
>Dreamlight Valley

Meh. Might emulate that not-Danganronpa game if It's a timed exclusive. Or just wait for a port, we'll see
I'm just gonna play that one on my switch, Spike Chunsoft being on the partner list in the early days was a big reason I bought the console
I just don't feel like giving Spike money for a new Danganronpa game - which is why I won't be buying it on my Switch. My enthusiasm for the series has waned, so I'm going to pirate it
Does switch Botw even runs in that shit?
works better than it does on the switch
Show me proof.
It has to be SWITCH emulation, not wii u.
>so little faith in his fellow man he demands "proof" of the obvious
I shall have no more of you, "sir". Good day
Kek. Good one, but i saw some videos of botw switch running on the deck and it runs like shit. There's no way ToTK will run any better.
lol yeah, being serious for a minute, it runs a like..15-25fps, but I think botw is a rough game to emulate generally and needs to be bruteforced a lot in yuzu. We can't 100% say the same will be true of the new one, but I honestly don't see Nintendo using a upgraded form of the engine used, or coding it any better. This is Nintendo, it's just going to be a glorified expansion pack and people will eat that shit up.
Silky smooth 15fps.
>Silky smooth 15fps.
Switch emulators also drain the battery to frick. Lasts about 20 minutes.
This is what Deck shitters live like.

This little gem. I'm pleasantly surprised.
That game has been in my backlog for over a decade now.
why not the legends GC version?
The GC had worse graphics to be fair

DMC V works
Those other games probably work with the right workarounds
Persona 5 soon bros
You keep posting this. No one gives a shit about Kirby. It's a game made for literal children. I know people say that all the time about Nintendo games but it's literally made for fricking babies. They are piss easy boring games with slow animations and zero depth. I don't understand how anyone over the age of 10 enjoys them
They also emulate fine, it's not even worth taking a video of it and compressing it because of how moronic the claim is
They post it because you respond to it. Just let them samegay their shitposts in shame.
Not everyone is a poor Black person and us showing that we can emulate switch games is just to show you how useless the switch really is after the deck.
but it can't emulate switch games well

Not got one yet, but as this is SVE, and I plan to corner the booze market, it's gonna be the girl who runs the bluemoon vineyard, whatever her name is. I don't want the competition.
Why is the screen so small? I feel like any real game would be suffocated on that puny screen. I’m gonna wait for the version 2 and let everyone else beta test this thing.
You spent money on that?
forgot your blog crying about CEMU
You say this every single time I post a pic, and I always ask you what you are talking about. You never reply. This is the most baffling shitpost I have ever seen. Kudos.

Where'd you get the skin? Looks comfy
nice gay plastic vinyl, did you use Linus Tech Tip's DBRANDTM discount code?
It really IS ok when Nintendo does it lmao
>obsessed
Why are gabentrannies so obsessed with nintendo?
Slapped emudeck on an SD card yesterday. What's the best way to fiddle with emulator settings? I'm getting a bit of stutter on N64 roms and I wanna bind one of the back buttons to quicksave/reload
If you used steam rom manager there should be a folder in your collections called emulation where you can launch them standalone. N64 uses retroarch though and I think you can bring up the menu in game with L3 +R3. I usually just use steam input to bind the grip buttons though.
Any good deck skins on etsy?
Considering you can upgrade the SSD yourself, is the anti glare screen worth buying the most expensive edition?
I don't give a shit about the bag or the community stuff.
Nah. You'd put a screen protector on it anyway, so you can get the same (or better) effect for a couple of bux
LOL
Finally about to get mine. Took long fricking enough

Maybe I missed an option for it when I went through checkout. It's no biggie though, it gave me time to order my accessories
i just got mine today and shipping took like 3 days
Just got my confirmation email. I'll be joining you lads soon.
Mine just came in today with no notice from FedEx. I'm extremely impressed so far with both the quality and the responsiveness of everything. Currently installing a bunch of shit from my library, then I'll install Yuzu and all the other emulators

Anything that can be done to make Sonic Generations run better? Certain stages like Planet Wisp tank the framerate.
I can't believe vampire Survivors is actually fun
if you like that try boneraiser minions, I like it better
>Nintendo Direct was 90% ports
Why do they think people care anymore when the Deck exists?
I have both.

I feel like portable gaming since the Switch has had like 2 hours of battery life and everyone is just accepting it even though that's complete shit.
about 30-45 minutes
The battery life on the Switch is really that bad? huh.
It's the same with Deck. Didn't know this was just normal for modern handhelds. The Vita was a champ when it came to battery life.
OLED Switch has a better battery. 4-6 hours
Trying to run Switch emulators on Deck drains the battery in 20 minutes
>Trying to run Switch emulators on Deck drains the battery in 20 minutes
Yup. Deck shitters need to sit with the system plugged in.
now i really dun know why the frick they saying SteamDeck is gud emulation handheld
why they dun want to buy switch and hacked it?
i can't believe valve really thought 20 minutes was an acceptable battery life....
Switch has god awful battery life, but mine is the first gen one, because I don't buy video games. I never tried the second gen Switch yet.
If you set up a phone before, then you know how to set up a Steam Deck. You just log into your Steam account, and download your video games.
>you need an account
disgusting
I can use my switch without ever connecting to the internet
>Steam has been up since 2004
>meanwhile every Nintendo eShop prior to the Switch is dead and games don't carry over
hmmm
>eshop
Switch games come in carts, and I don't need an account for that.
You don't have to use a steam account
Yeah I'm sure the normal Steam stuff is very simple. Mostly talking emulators and any kind of solutions I might need to know about to get games to run.
https://www.emudeck.com/ if you want to install emulators
https://www.protondb.com/
Use protondb to check game status. Also games that aren't Steam verified will still work most of the time
>fighting games
You dun goofed. The dpad sucks.
I want to plug my pads/sticks into it and stand it up. I travel to a lot of fighting game events and bringing a PS4 and monitor everywhere is very annoying.
why dont you get a laptop if your gonna use a controller anyway ?
good laptops are more expensive than the steam deck
and bad laptops are just as expensive and 5 times faster ? what are you trying to tell me here ?
Name a single laptop that costs $400 that runs games as well as the deck
ignore this guy, he's in every Deck thread
what are you talking about moron
whats the point of a deck when a laptop is clearly the better choice in this case
What's the point of a laptop when it can't even run games when not plugged in? It has zero advantages over a desktop.
yes it has, its portable and easily set up
i used to have a sff pc and it was a giant meme, now i have a laptop and can actually take it with me and actally fricking game with/at my friends/gf place
there probably isnt, but if you pay 100$ more you get laptops 5 times as fast
>but if you pay 100$ more you get laptops 5 times as fast
no you don't
>its portable and easily set up
I carry my desktop PC in my car when ever I travel, it's also perfectly portable.
I'm gonna ask you again, what kind of a moron so you have to be to buy a gaming laptop? It has no purpose.
cool bro, enjoy setting up your pc, monitor, keyboard, mouse. while i just take my laptop out lmao
i literally just said i had a desktop you autist, its shit
>cool bro, enjoy setting up your pc, monitor, keyboard, mouse. while i just take my laptop out lmao
You're literally so dumb and moronic you can't name a single scenario where a laptop is more useful than a desktop.
you are a dense motherfricker
Ironic coming from a low IQ mongoloid that claims a laptop is a replacement for a handheld, yet breaks down like a little homosexual b***h when told a desktop is a straight up replacement for his homosexual gaming laptop. Don't like being obliterated in your own game huh?
What games run well that are like Skyrim or Assassin's Creed
like where you just go collect stuff in an open world and do quests
But it's repsawning enemies
No actual FPS like Borderlands but first person view is fine like Skyrim
But not Skyrim
Skyrim
Fallout 4
Here's a tip: Go into the power management settings, enable the per game power profile and turn down TDP and GPU clock to minimum and turn on variable shader on for games that can run on toasters like Dead Cells, VVVVVV, Slay the Spire, Binding of Isaac, etc. to get maximum battery life with minimum heat without any impact to performance. You'll see those games normally use up like 2% of CPU with default power settings start to use 50% which is what you actually want because you're otherwise wasting the power.
>tfw PC
>Deck

Damn it feels good to play whatever I want on whichever platform is coziest at the time
That is almost my setup except my PC is a craptop.

Yes, calling names counts as seething
Calm down friendo, I'm only having fun. no need to cope bro
Huh
Must feel terrible to have waisted all this money in redundant stuffs
Why do games with FMVs tend to not work without experimental Proton?
I think it's to do with proprietary windows codecs they sometimes use
Aight, what screen protector does everyone use? I know we're not out here just going bare screen, don't trust that shit at all.
Just don't let morons touch your Deck and you'll be fine. You're not carrying around your deck in your pocket like it's a phone, right?
day 0
60 fps
trust the plan
>makes thread about it
>backfires and everyone ends up talking about Zelda
you have no power here
>it's another episode of the deck can't connect to Steam
Honestly this is my only issue with it
I've disabled power saving mode
I can get about 220-240 download on a fricking macbook and yet this fricking thing shits itself trying to get the internet
Well, internet to steam only
wifi in general is fne for me
Can't you plug in your SDXC card and download directly onto that?
What are some essential weeb games?
I reserved one couple of weeks ago, I have some questions.
How limiting is the read only files on the OS, is there any chance steam will change that. Can i avoid steam mode? I don't wanna put every game I wanna play inside steam. I wanna use emulators without having to open steam. I heard even installing wine is hard because of read only, is that true?
You can unlock it
This is technically true, you can turn off read only but then any update will erase anything you place outside the user folder. So turning off read only is pretty much useless.
You have full control over your system and os, you can do whatever you want with it. You don't have to use steam mode at all if you don't want to and you can make all files read and write if you want.
I just got the mail today. How many days did shipping and delivery take for you guys??
>wanted to emulate Monster Hunter Tri on deck for max comfiness
>runs like absolute garbage because dolphin on linux lol
Goddammit
>because dolphin on linux
I haven't had any problems with dolphin.
What are your settings?
Granted I've only tried with Tri but it runs terribly.
Whatever emudeck set it up as, I haven't checked. I have tried Tri, but I haven't had any problems emulating anything with dolphin thus far. Biggest issue I've had is loading the initial shaders can make things stutter a smidge, but that's temporary.
>I have tried Tri
Whoops, *haven't
Why not just emulate 3U on CEMU? Why even go back to 3 gen and swimming?
It was just the first thing that came to mind for whatever reason
...where to get Wii U roms?
Use power tools to limit the CPU to three threads and disable SMT.
Does using Power Tools actually risk bricking the deck or is that only if I'm an absolute mega moron with it?
yes dude, many anons have bricked on these threads
i wish we could ban everyone who posts about it
Rule of thumb is always "if you're not sure, don't do it".
Don't.
Disabling SMT needs to be an official option, needing a third party for it is fricking dumb.
Holy frick
Disabling Dual Core was the fix, running perfect now
Why are there two Switch emulators? Usually Nintendo autists just collaborate together to make shit work like Dolphin. Is Yuzu the better one?
because yuzu decided to be epic israelites and paywall content behind patreon
DELETE THIS
Mine fricking died. I am very irritated.
What the frick did you do?
Nothing. It just blacked out and won't come back on while I was playing No Man's Sky. I don't want to invalidate the warranty so I'm not going to open it up, gonna have to return it.
Did you try letting the battery completely discharge and then recharging it?
I'll give it a try, though I don't know if I'll even be able to charge it because the indicator doesn't come on. Thanks for the tip tho!
What's the best way to play older GTA games? PS2 emulator? Do the PC ports actually run well?
>Valve could have just used Windows as a base so we wouldn't have to deal with all this Linux Proton combability nonsense
>they just had to go against the current because microsoft is le evil!
worth the weight
Would have cost an extra 130 minimum
Would have also had far more fricking issues than you know
Windows 10/11 is not, at all, touch/pad friendly
Not to mention the massive performance hits
microsoft literally wants to destroy their store by forcing all software to be sold through their own store. They are an existential threat to their business.
Just install windows yourself? It's literally just a mid range computer in handheld form ya know?
Set up a dual boot
>it's the "ignore this guy, he's in every Deck thread" schizo
so 4 fps instead of 3? wooahh...
no, it's a device for addicts. people that are lost in entertainment. thats why they sped $600 for a niche device that lets them play games a week earlier.
Why did it take you so long to post this?
spent too long trying to figure out how to remoev the "[Open}" from when he copy pasted it from the archive
'witch on 'eck
The Switch version of BotW doesn't even hit 20 fps HAHAHA
You aren't playing TotK on your deck. Have fun selling it for an actual graphics card. Valve lost.
stop spreading disinformation
there is no disinfo. the wii u version runs fine on deck from what i've seen, but TotK isn't getting a wii u version lmaooooo
the deck cannot run the switch version at full speed.
>the deck cannot run the switch version at full speed
A 4 year old phone can run moat Switch games at full speed, it's not 2018 any more
>A 4 year old phone can run moat Switch games at full speed,
Not even remotely fricking true. Jesus Christ.
>He doesn't know
Hahaha tendies are really pathetic
Didn't read.
>The cheapest Switch is $200. Comptetive phones and tablets cost $1,000.
>After 30 minutes of play, the framerate drops to 30 frames per seconds due to throttling because phones are fabless and it’s too fricking hot.
Citation needed.
>Phones and tablets.don’t have the cooling solution to allow for their objectively better hardware to surpass the 2017 Switch.
Again wrong, phones and tablets have all sorts of cooling solutions, from internal fans that exist in certain chinkphone brands, to external fans, cooling pads, etc.
>They’re fanless and get too hot needing to throttle which kills performance.
Again posting 5 year old information.
>They have small batteries that drain to nothing under load.
Black person OG Switch can barely run BotW for over 2 hours, and drains in 3 hours even when playing literal Picross or Sudoku. I can run Picross on my phone for 24h straight without charging.
>Then consider something like the steam deck, which on paper is technically superior. But the terrible optimisation and stability of Switch emulators can barely run on on high end desktop rigs
I already told you it's not 2018 anymore, Switch emulators run on 4 year old phones just fine.
Didn't read but I saw "Again" used multiple times and the N-bomb so that's going to be a "Based" from (Me)
>Ayn Odin
lmao stop lying. That thing does not emulate switch at full speed.
>He doesn't know
Hahaha tendies on suicide watch
post proof or kys, chink shill
>Devices like Ayn Odin are 200$-300$, and they not only emulate Switch
Bwahahahahah silky soothe 5fps and 20 minute battery life. Frick off moron.
>Deck is unstable
wat
>Switch made in 2015 is more powerful then phones TODAY
no. Switch uses the cheapest NVidea Shield gpu has to offer, its embarassing.
Nintendo is scared of the Deck's piracy loophole, otherwise they wouldn't pay Denovo good money to DRM their games
>they wouldn't pay Denovo good money to DRM their games
They aren't, moron.
>Switch uses the cheapest NVidea Shield gpu has to offer, its embarassing.
You know NVidea doesn't make the X1, right?
Based af. Just look at the seething this post caused.
kys arthur
my phone runs fortnite at 60fps but the switch runs it at 20fps.
same for genshin impact
mind explaining?
Why do gabensubhumans always lie?
Especially so obviously?
poor tendie pedo wasted his entire life playing at 20fps he doesn't know what 60fps even means
but phones can and do run genshin at 60fps?
>but phones can and do run genshin at 60fps?

Lol BOTW isn’t even meant for portable play, cut that shit out.
Just play it on an actual PC so you can enjoy actual graphical clarity at a real resolution with graphics mods

The dream
A moronic dream.
Do you have any idea what sell
-through is? The Deck isn't even fricking available at retail. Do you have any idea what licencing is? Or how much money developers can make from Switch games?
This idea that the Deck is a threat to the Switch is the most delusional out-of-touch-with-reality psychosis I've seen on this board in years. I used to think you c**ts were shitposting but you're actually fricking serious?
the Steam Deck creates so much seethe lol
seethe or justified ridicule? hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm
But he has a use for a laptop, because as everyone knows fighting sticks work on laptops, but not on a Steam Deck or a desktop...because they just don't.
I preordered the finest version, what can I expect?
How do I into switch emulation on the deck? Does emudeck set it up or do I need to dump files?
From what I remember you still need to get one file but searching on google gives it
It'll handle any of the dumped games you get on rom sites
>emudeck
literally just bricked your deck holy kek
Why are you trying to run software on a dickrest? Are you stupid?
You can overclock your switch and get 60 fps in every game
meanwhile Steam Deck can't even get native without having graphical/sound glitches and jitters from having to rebuild shaders every 3 seconds.
thank you for carrying the torch, anon
For him to carry your torch he needs to reply to himself at least 6 times.
Ok
STEAM BROS.....
OH NO NO NO NO NO

No problem brother.

Yes. And?
The real trick is modding an OLED screen onto an OG model switch
why did you delete the decktroony killed themselves part? is this a larp?
why did you delete the decktroony killed themselves part? is this a larp?

Damn all this seething over the deck makes me so excited for getting one next week.
Does anyone have recommendations for a dock for this thing? I need some usb ports for controllers.
cant you just plug it into the usb c input
A controller? No? What controllers use USB C?
if it's a xbox/ps contrroller you can just use a double ended usb-c cable
Oh. I wouldn't know. The latest controllers I have are Xbox One and PS4.
There are micro usb to usb-c cables. I would get a dongle in your case
sabrent makes a good cheap one for $15, just buy a separate tablet stand with it

why
Just finished Divinity: Original Sin 2 and now I'm playing Pathfinder Kingmaker.
I never realized how comfy CRPGs are when you're curled up in bed using your dog as a pillow.
that tribal hunter game is complete dogshit, its just sprites sliding around weirdly animated, shit gameplay, any other good special interest games out there?
Deckchads won again
how long did it take you homies for the order to process after buying it? been a day and a half and I did get a fraud check email from my bank but I obv approved it and repurchased.
Steam Deck is pretty cool but I’ve started playing my Switch more often lately. It just works

I read something online about how my internet speeds might be too fast for my older Microsd to keep up with as well. Which would explain why it would have occasionally hang ups downloading. Alright I was pissed but I'm calmed down now. Love my Deck bros but the software really does need some work. Should I only ever be using the stable builds?
>internet speeds too fast for older MicroSD
yeah that's pretty much it, what you need is something that can sustain the writes. Take a look at the links here, they can explain it in more detail.

I've got the 256 coming in, so I shouldn't need an SD card if I don't go crazy with my installs.
here's a cheap set that I guarantee will work
Will Lexar 1tb be good enough?
dude just get a Samsung Evo or Sandisk Extreme, don't cheap out on your storage.
you guys do know that the deck can play stuff other than nintendo emulators right
I have all my emulators and ROMs/ISOs on an external HDD. Can I just plug that to a Steam Deck to play the games, instead of transferring them? I'd save a lot of space.
You'd need to somehow connect your HDD to your Deck (USB hub?), but theoretically yes. You'd miss out on being able to play wireless
Yeah I do have a hub. I don't mind having a cable as long as it's just a short one, since I'm planning on playing in bed. Plus I'll probably play while charging it quite often.
how do mods work on the deck for pirated games?
The deck has a dual boot of sorts. There's Steam OS which is like a more traditional game OS, and then there's the Linux OS, Linux uses Proton to emulate Windows games, so almost anything running on a normal P.C setup should work on the Linux OS side of the Deck. TL;DR, pirated games should work the same as windows, mods and all, just trickier to set up.
whatar ye deckin'
The software for this thing is fricking terrible. Forget the thought of ever even downloading right to a Micro SD card. It causes so much issues, it's unreal. Constant hang upside freezes, downloads stopping and starting, forcing to do hard restarts..can't even stop the download or uninstall the game as it'll just freeze. Genuinely terrible.
I would RMA it. I’ve had 1 freeze in 3 months
Idk what you're talking about, I have a 1 TB SD and I installed like 20 games, some 80+ GB, and they all load fast and don't freeze. It took like 1 minute to format the card and it automatically added it as a drive to my Steam library, and even made it my default drive. pebcak.
tendies spam lies all day long
Yeah sure I'm lying.
You're a fricking dolt. I spent $650 on this thing I'm allowed to say what sucks about it
what is it even good for? cant play pirated pc games? cant emulate switch games higher than 3 fps? software buggy POS that crash for hours? battery drains in 20 minutes?
these are the lies I was talking about thanks
Well I wasn't lying but maybe my problem wasn't actually the Deck but my chinkshit Microsd giving my Deck aids. That guy is just shitposting.
literally half the posts in this thread are confirming it? why are you gaslighting?
Your micro SD card might have shit the bed
This is actually what I'm thinking. It was the one I had in my Switch for a few years. I finally got the game download freezing stopped and uninstalled it from the SD card and reinstalled it on the Deck storage itself. I think if I just do it this way I can just transfer it over after and have zero issues. It might just be the micro SD that's bunk because I have zero of these issues with hardware itself. In fact the hardware is incredible, the only issues I've ever had with this thing are software..games run and work phenomenal.
Yeah, your issues sound familiar, I had an older SD start freezing up a tablet a while back, just worn out I suppose
I would never recommend someone buy one of these with how bad the software is now.

>haven't been able to use the steam deck for 2 hours from the constant pausing, hard resets, software completely freezing and locking the device, and can't even uninstall or stop the download of the game because of that
$650 for something that barely works. Incredible. Think I could sell it for $750? I've only had it a week.
you bought a junk sd card chap
It's a Samsung something or other. I think it was like $50 when I got it a few years ago because of it's fast speed. Yeah I guess maybe there is something wrong with it. Can I get some recommendations on a good one you guys have had no trouble with? Preferably 512gb.
Unironically Samsung Evo gets the highest marks around here
Any other Little Phoenix waitfriends? :--)
I’m waiting for the deck 3 tbh
how come?
I've had my steam deck for 9 days now and have only played sekiro. What the frick do I even play. I have like 6 steam games. I don't know why I bought this considering I hate steam as a platform

Will I be able to play MW2 (2) (2022) on the deck without needing to install windoos? I hope so.
you could try installing the blizzard launcher in desktop mode via lutris
If you order a deck now, do you have to wait until 2023 to get one?
They're still saying Q4 2022 on the store page
I will play Holocure only
is it possible to switch to arch on this while having the steam game mode as an option? Is there any guide on how to set it up? How does the deck work with latest linux kernels and mesa drivers?
I put my dick on my Deck and now it won't turn back on, should I try booting into the bios(with or without the dick touching the Deck?)
I'm new to linux and putting my dick on electronics, haha.
So whats the point of playing the steam deck in your house with your 2k+ computer?
Can't be assed to start up some games on my PC when I can play it on my deck and just suspend a game if I have to do something else.
More like what's the point of playing on your 2k+ computer when you have a steamdeck to be comfy with

posting from my steam deck kek
it begins:
it's all just deck shills larping, if people weren't "mad" about the deck these threads would go straight to page 10 (just like they did for months)
They hated him because he spoke the truth
Wish I had some anime games to play

gaming
why
someone please tell me this game has been dumped and if it runs on the deck
>everyone "hates the deck" narrative isn't working bros
>quick break the "incase of emergency ick posting" glass!
What's funny is that you can take the Deck hate narrative and apply it to the Switch, but for some reason this board likes to pretend that there aren't daily threads shitting on the Switch.
the switch deserves the hate, nintendo's anti consumer antics warrant it
t. tendie who loved the gamecube, not realizing that the only reason it was at all affordable was because it wasn't selling well and it was genuinely worse than the competjition
>but muh heckin' consumerino rights!
Don't care, either everything is fair game to shit on, or nothing is, you can't have it both ways.
consumer rights absolutely matter
I don't give a shit why other anons shit on the switch but this is my hill and I won't budge
A fully unlocked handheld gaming PC is a thousand times better than any locked down piece of shit console, end of fricking story
Still don't care, but thanks for letting me know.
what's the 'ick poster's alignment?
Bros, I cant play my Japanese porn games in public. People mock how muddy the screen is...
skill issue
>no one talking about video games
why are deck threads like this
Talk about video games
After playing Doom and Killing Floor 2, I now understand gyro aiming
what community config did you use for doom eternal
Haven't played Eternal yet. Just 2016, and I used the default controls and gyro sens. Only thing I changed was added jump to the paddles.
gyro aiming is incredible, I played through HL2 with my Steam Controller and it was a hell of an experience.
what platforms have gyro for those games?
>everyone says play doom on vulkan
>switch to vulkan
>20-30fps
Nah, back to opengl, nerds.
>no video games discussions
why are these threads even allowed to exist
i've been playing freedom planet 2 on it. there ya go.

Just because you let the smartphone goyslop peddlers convince you that pixel density is the only thing that matters doesn't make it true.

Why are gabentroony threads always so low quality and artificial?
I love video games on my deck
What nintendo games are you emulating, friend?
If I reserve a steam deck today am I definitely getting it sometime between october to december?
You'd get one long before that vaporware scam you posted
I have been playing titanfall 2 on my steamer. Is the multiplayer completely dead?
>gabentroony still SEETHING
What is the topic of the thread again?
Why are gabentrannies so moronic they actually think they can pretend to be someone else in their own threads?
Why are a tendie and a snoy screeching at each other in a deck thread?
Because that's how all deck threads have been from the beginning
Any actual discussion occurs in the Linux threads offhand
Has the dick deck poster posted in this thread yet?
It's the same guy as the fat, attention-seeking butcher's boy, so: yes.
why wont haters just let 'eckers have fun for the 'eck of it.
Do you haters even like games?
Which is the better android device? GPD XP+ or AYN Odin Pro?
Ayn odin pro, hands down. It's the best android device on the market by so clear a margin that it's not even funny
>Ayn odin pro
I kind of want one even though i'm already waiting on a steam deck. I think the dock for the odin looks neat especially with the ports for n64 and gamecube controllers. But another android device may not be something I that really need.
>a hacked switch is a valid android option
Is it easy to switch between android and regular switch? Which would you want to run emulators on? Would they both run emulators well? And would Genshin and Mobile Legends run well on it?
>I refuse to use the deck for emulating anything below 6th gen
Why is that, anon?
It's kind of a waste. Emulating older stuff on the deck is just a waste of space and honest better suited to something smaller and sleeker. If the Odin does it just as well, while also being smaller and lighter, I will use that.
This is the way I feel. I'll probably keep any emulation I do to that era and up as well. I've got so many PC games I want to try that I may not get around to emulation for several months, anyway.
a hacked switch is a valid android option if you have one
Its amazing for stadia
Video games?
>tears of the kingdom
Tears as if crying or Tears as in tears in time and space?
Man, these threads are low quality.
Maybe going to Ganker would help
We did that once, and the threads there were much bettet
Turns out Plat games feel actually pretty good on the Deck
They really should move the frick up with the official docking station though
and frick these shitty captchas too
This is what I'm decking.
Kudos to anyone who even knows about it.
Also, Monster Hunter Generations Ultimate with online (Ryujinx LDN build).

Please don't pirate Nintendo products. Nintendo is the most important player in this business right now, and we need to support them all we can.
They need us to support them, because they need us as much as we need them.

Snoy falseflag.
The frick are you talking about? They have enough money banked and low enough operating costs to last 100 years without a profit you fricking idiot.

Kek, so much for online works.
i'm planning to play every fire emblem before the new one arrives
>Oh boy, I can't wait for this game to release so I can very poorly emulate it just enough to get a picture of the first 5 minutes of the game and use that to endlessly shitpost! What do you mean you'll actually play the game??
Pathetic
What's the best usb-c hub to connect the steam deck to an external monitor?
So is the switch games the only games worth running on Deck? Seems to be the only reason people post deck. What other games do you guys play on it? I mostly seen Vampire survivors to be one of the most popular game to play on it.
I probably play through my turn based games on a Steam Deck.
I tried BO2 and 3 zombies on it and it works really well, and obviously indie games will be great
You can also watch porn on it
I don't know why people are so obsessed with emulating Switch as some kind of weird flex. I've got more than enough games to occupy myself already.
They are just desperately trying to avoid admitting that only nintendo makes worthwhile games, and that pc gaming and valve have been the worst influence on gaming ever.
>he says, defending his locked down hardware
>no argument
I accept your troonycession.
Enjoyed your ports and remasters direct yesterday? Shame your hardware is so weak it can only stream the new REs they're really good games.
They really aren't good games at all, RE3 especially
It's a meme war between Deck vs Switch shitposters as well as at least one obsessive and deeply autistic true believer
They need to justify buying it, i guess.
Nice thanks. I would rather see thread about other things than switch emulation on Deck. So good to hear that some other games are also running on it.
I could do that on my big ass smartphone.
Really? I thought at least it would have an offline mode just like the regular steam client.
I'm getting my Deck next week I think, but I didn't expect I'd get it this early. What can/should I do when I get it, obviously I'll watch some video on emulation, but anything else I need on it?
If you want to make piracy easy (the desktop controls are shit) you'll want to map a network drive or use Warpinator/Syncthing/team viewer
If you're talking about accessories, you'll probably want a Bluetooth keyboard, a micro SD card depending on your internal storage, and a USB-C hub with HDMI out if you plan on connecting it to a monitor or TV
>can't even play most games offline
who is moronic enough to buy this piece of shit?
You literally can tho?
no you can't
idc what tech illiterates on youtube say, I have it in my hands and you can turn off wifi or turn on airplane mode and it works fine
i hope you're getting paid for your marketing and lies
If I post a picture proving you wrong will you admit you were wrong or will you ignore it and spam your moronation in the next thread?
a picture doesn't prove shit. the evidence is all there in the video. you can't even launch some games in offline mode like some Origin games. it's easy to be misleading with an image because you could launch the game online and then go offline afterwards, or simply be showing a screenshot of a game. cap.
So you're saying games that are reliant on a different company's servers can't be launched offline? How is that the fault of the Deck in any way, why aren't you blaming the developers, or using your brain and realizing this is necessary for some games? I'm able to launch games like Dead Cells, Enter the Gungeon, Gunfire Reborn, Deep Rock, BO3, and BO2 without any internet connection just fine and play
where did i blame the deck? i said it's a piece of shit because of those reasons. it's literally impossible to play every purchased game offline due to garbage nature of pc gaming and DRM. a handheld shouldn't have these problems. the switch doesn't have these problems, neither did the 3ds, vita, psp and so on.
>switch
any game you purchase that "streams" to the device can only be (poorly) played with an internet connection, along with games like Dauntless
The fact of the matter is most people aren't buying this to play those games, and even if they are they're fully aware of the requirements anyway. 99% of my library, along with all my non-steam games and emulators do not require an internet connection
I deleted my wifi password info
I turned off wifi
I turned on airplane mode
I start a game on my deck
I start a game on my computer
get message that my Deck is playing a game and I can't play on my computer
How does it know everything is turned off and it has no connection to the outside world?
>gabenshills love this level of DRM
Why is this okay?
why do tendies even bother lying?
I really hate this cloud gaming trend, it's never going to feel as good to play as a natively installed game.
Blame console homosexuals
