I sold my dusty Switch today
How much did you get, anon? I really hope you got a good deal seeing as how you've been posting how your Switch has been collecting dust and you're thinking about selling it every day for the past 5 years.
now that the dust has settled, how much do you miss having your Switch rn?
nothing. waiting for my b0xx to arrive to keep playing smash ult and maybe try melee, but I'm too busy with retro games to use my switch right now
Having a great time since Christmas
85 hours into Harvestella, can’t stop playing it.
What kind of game is Sword of the Necromancer?
Nothing out of the ordinary
Dungeon explorer, 2D, beat monsters, some co-op (if i knew earlier I would have got the standard switch version instead)
What a weird selection of games. I feel like this is what my mom might have bought me for Christmas when I was 13 if she'd spent all her money on cheap wine and knew I'd just discovered masturbation.
>sword of necromancer
any relation to that one game hyrule crypt of the necrodancer
None
Lol
Signalis while waiting for fire emblem engage.
Just finished No More Heroes III. It was my first game in the series and I thought it was 9/10 kino.
Should I play TSA next or get NMH1 on the eShop while it's on sale?
Go to NMH 1 and 2, they're more similar to 3 in terms of structure and gameplay. If you're still on board afterwards grab TSA, it's a better evolution of the style than III, but the gameplay leaves a bit to be desired.
Also, shutout to that anon who talked about Severed Steel around Christmas. I got that and had a blast with it.
Get NMH1. Honestly it is shocking that you started with 3 given the fact that there's so much that they don't even explain in NMH3 to new players.
Thinking about starting SMTV, but I don't know if I feel like starting a 45 hour jrpg right now.
I am replaying (again) DS2 on PS4, but when I get some free time I play Front Mission 1st while waiting for FE Engage.
>45
You mean 65, right?
>65
you mean 95, right?
This is going to wait until March then.
Playing Blaster Master Zero for the first time. Seems really good so far.
I just got a Switch yesterday with Animal Crossing, need to pick up some other games.
What other games are you looking at getting anon?
Most likely a bunch of Nintendo exclusives; Metroid Dread, Mario Odyssey, probably Link's Awakening
All good games beside LA which is way too overpriced for a 1:1 remake of a gameboy game with a worse artstyle.
LA is the best game he mentioned. The only possible complaint you could have is that it's kind of short, but it's still twice as long as Dread, and is the kind of game you're likely going to come back to multiple times to revisit.
Solid picks anon. Don't forget to check out Astral Chain and Bayonetta 3. And don't listen to
Links Awakening remake is fantastic.
I love Link's Awakening, but why wouldn't you get BotW? That should be like the obvious first purchase for anyone buying a Switch.
Already played it back on The Wii U
Ah, I forget there are people who actually had one of those.
Buying a Switch with nothing but AC sound like the most depressing thing imaginable. it would be like finally asking out that girl you've had a crush on since elementary school and finding out that she's asexual and also has a penis.
You sound mentally deficient.
I honestly don't understand the appeal of Animal Crossing. I picked up NH right when we went into lockdown because it was being hyped up so much, and played it for about a month, and it's probably the biggest gaming regret of my entire life. It's like if The Sims had a baby with a Tamagotchi; it's a boring, repetitive game designed for toddlers that you can only play for an hour a day at most. I wasn't exactly thrilled with the direction Rune Factory 5 went in, but ACNH made it look like a fricking masterpiece.
AC is more like a dollhouse sim. Like making dioramas. There's also the cute villagers, but I'm really disappointed how barebones they felt. They should have doubled-down on their dialogue and the interactivity with them.
Coming from City Folk and New Leaf, New Horizons is just about building a giant doll house with your island. Its pretty much about waiting to gather furniture and recipes. Talking to villagers used to be more varied. But after getting the same 5 lines every week I just give up. Villagers turned into souless stereotypes. They were stereotypes before but now its so innoffensive its boring.
For those of us not from muttmerica this was never a problem as they were always one dimensional rejects. As for your le whacky mean meme dialog translated shortly after nintendos play it loud years. I'm sorry for your loss
What a weird, catty response.
>in my 3rd world country we don't mind garbage, because we live in garbage and are used to it
>sorry for your loss, lol
Do ESL's really?
You sound obsessed. I never played an AC game before. I just find the game to be wasted potential.
Man then you definitely wouldn't like the previous ones since NH is the only one with single player gameplay that's not a press A to listen simulator where you collect money and only money to do a thing that becomes pointless. If you actually explore the series you would know that American animal crossing fans are chronically mentally ill and latch on to shitty meme dialog that was almost gone from their games by the second one as was. They're like trannies. Minority representation that won't shut the frick up
Ahh, it's an NH obsessive with a chip on their shoulder. Everything makes sense now.
>minority representation that won't shut the frick up
You're talking about yourself, right?
No because I play the game the majority seemed to like that sold 30 million copies without crying about muh dialog and muh choose your style because my character is actually gendered and the dialog is the same as its always been lol
This is your 3rd post and I still have no fricking clue what you're talking about. Try using short, simple sentences when trying to communicate in a language you aren't familiar with.
Sorry I don't need to explain anything to morons
I haven't played an Atelier game in years but picked up Sophie 2 over the holidays and just finished it at a little over 70 hours. I decided to give Ryza a try and just about everything is worse. I'll probably finish is and play a few other things in my backlog before moving onto the Mysterious trilogy proper.
Doing random teraraids in Scarlet waiting for the Cinderace raid to drop again. Is Armarouge flinging on Slowbro still the meta?
The only """games""" I'm looking forward to this year are the DLC for Xenoblade 3 and Pokémon, and BotW2.
Started Katamari Damacy the other day. Also replaying Mario Odyssey after 5 years and enjoying it a lot more this time around. It might be the best-looking game on the Switch, the Sand Kingdom looks incredible
Picking one up for the wife on her birthday. I know she wants Tropical Freeze since she is nostalgic about Kong. Are there any good couch co op games that we could enjoy together? I was thinking Mario Strikers since she is into soccer but what do you sayt2skt0a bros?
Overcooked, Part Time UFO, BoxBoy+BoxGirl are really good co-op games.
Pokemon Let's Go Pee is good co-op if she likes Pokemon or is a normie
Run through demos. I don't know if it's there, but Portal 2 co-op might be fun if she can handle 3D games. Snipperclips, Brain Training, Mario Kart, Warioware, and Switch Sports maybe? Ring Fit seems to be an easy winner. Not for co-op, just broadly.
Does Portal 2 have gyro. I feel Portal's best played with keyboard and mouse but it seems perfect for learning gyro aiming.
>does Portal 2 have gyro
What the frick. I was going to say no, but then I opened up my last save and went into the options and apparently it does. It also seems to work pretty well, but somehow I played through both games without using it. I'd also recommend Quake and Splatoon
Usually gyro is hidden in the options. Glad Portal collection has it. I already have Splatoon 2 and 3.
Apparently the collection has Gyro. I'd have gone for it on Switch if they included the level creator.
Skyward Sword HD. Having fun. It isn't as bad as they say it is.
been playing legends arceus on and off
L O N D O N????
Why are there fish on the floor?
Sho dick and boll
female or male?
why the fish, do you have a cat?
I got a switch last month son since they announced pikmin 4 but I don't have any games yet. Maybe I'll get odyssey first
>shin twewy
>botw
>great Ace attorney
>Mario oddisey
>aegis rim
>xenoblade 3
>xenoblade Torna
This is my haul so far since I got my switch two months ago. I've been playing mostly shin twewy and oddisey. Besides the other xenoblade games, what else should I get?
DKC Tropical Freeze
Metroid Dread
Pikmin 3
Kirby and the Forgotten Land
Captain Toad: Treasure Tracker (yes I’m serious)
Triangle Strategy (if you like SRPGs)
Link’s Awakening
I’ve played all of these and find them all to be quality games
>Captain Toad: Treasure Tracker (yes I’m serious)
I would recommend playing 3D World first. Captain Toad looked really dumb to me when it first came out, but after playing 3D World and loving it I was hyped as frick to play an entire game of the Toad levels. Seriously, don't sleep on 3D World. I don't know if it's worth double dipping just for Bowser's Fury if you already played it on Wii U, but if you haven't it's a great Mario game.
I didn't find 3D World worth double dipping for Bowser's Fury. In fact, I feel pretty confident in saying an open world doesn't really benefit Mario.
>I feel pretty confident in saying an open world doesn't really benefit Mario
I was a Nintendo kid growing up and am old enough to say that the first game I ever played was Duck Hunt, followed by hundreds of hours of SMB, the sequels, SMW, SMAS, and Mario 64, and to this day Mario 64 is still my favorite game. I liked Odyssey okay, but then I played 3D World (didn't have a Wii U) and realized I was having much more fun with well designed, short, linear levels. I think BF had a lot of potential, but it felt like getting a demo for a game that doesn't exist bundled in.
The overarching giant Bowser fights were really cool, but it felt like loading screens were just replaced with riding around to the next level through a lot of empty space. The islands felt so disconnected they might as well have been their own worlds Ala 64 or Odyssey
While it's a big, singular space by the end, you're technically going through a conventional area unlock as far as I understand it. Basically, it's not open world in progression, just in the sense of having a cohesive space by the end.
Yeah, I kind of elaborated on my thoughts here
Currently pic related and Sword of the Vagrant, and doing Jump Rope Challenge for some early morning cardio
Rune Factory 5
It's very rough around the edges to say the least but I"m starving for farman games atm.
Same. I didn't used to like these types of games and only ever made a single exception for Fantasy Life, but I have been trying other genres lately. I will say that these romance events blocking essential shops and Fuuka not accepting my confessions is starting to bug me a lot, also not being able to pass time in game for the night events is aggravating.
Very fun game overall. I actually laughed out loud at a few parts and that hasn't happened in months.
My brother had gotten me Live A Live and Triangle Strategy for Christmas.
Live A Live was great, I was surprised by the variety of mechanics on display in the various campaigns. Hard to pick a favorite, but I guess it'd be Wild West or Near Future.
As for Triangle Strategy, I'm now on my second playthrough after getting the Liberty ending. Frederica and Corentin are too good.
Looking forward to Engage (in spite of the potential SRPG overload)
I love Triangle Strategy, but damn, I've never been a subs over dubs autist but this might be the first time in my life that I absolutely couldn't stand the English voice acting and had to turn it off. Otherwise great game, and best use of 2D-HD we've seen so far.
Scarlet, I'm stocking up on the version exclusive pokemon so I can find people to trade me the ones from Violet.
Just getting into pokemon scarlet. Didn't like it at first but it's growing on me.
I'm still playing through Xenoblade 3. Real life duties slowed me down. I'm guessing I should save $500 for Nintendo's next generation system. I don't think it'll happen until 2024-2025. But I need to be ready before scalpers snatch it up.
>save
why do u morons not have 500 sitting around? I have 38K just sitting in savings as well as a 401K i put into monthly...
I'm on disability.
I've been playing Legends Arceus. Other than the terrible graphics it's pretty fun. I'm also a gen4gay, so the music has been manipulating me into liking the game more than it deserves.
I've also been replaying Skyward Sword HD on hero mode. I've been feeling a Zelda kick coming on and I want to play through a bunch of Zelda games before TotK later this year. Might even get out the ol' Wii U for some TP HD and WW HD.
Does anyone think the Spirit Tracks and Phantom Hourglass games are worth buying on Wii U eshop? I've never played them, and I don't like emulating dual screen games.
Arceus is the best pokemon made.
based. i can't fish for shit
As someone who was never taught how to fish as a kid, fishing mini-games always filtered me. It's how I imagine puzzles that involve musical notation must have been for people who've never studied music.
What size SD card should I be getting?
I have a 128GB card (the official nintendo one with a super mushroom on it) and it's still overkill. I've found that most of the storage is used for the screencaps and video clips I take instead of actual games, so unless you only play switch games digitally you don't need more than that.
Cheers anon
Definitely go for a 1TB. You should have snagged one over the holidays, but they go on sale pretty often. You're going to run out of space much faster than you think, even if you buy half your games physically.
I'd start with either a 128GB if you're getting it as a complimentary device or as a Nintendo/Indie machine, 256GB if you plan to use it heavily. Increase to 256GB/512GB respectively if you plan to go mostly/all digital.
1TB is a thing, but only if you have a shitton of stuff or get data-heavy games like DOOM (2016)/Eternal, L.A. Noire, Witcher 3 etc. on, again, majority digital.
If you plan to get physical for a lot of second-hand stuff cheaply along with a couple indies from the eShop, 256 should be fine long-term, going up to 512 only if you run out of space/use it as your first or close-second most used gaming device.
With a successor likely March-June next year, you should only need the 256GB for now. Beyond that is up to you.
Hear me out, anon.
Just play one or two games at a time then delete + redownload if you want something else, and save money on an SD card (provided your internet service is okay).
I'm currently playing my 3DS again due to a fan-tl release of Digimon Lost Evolution
I bought this thing well over a year ago from LRG and it finally just shipped. Never again.
You could have had this 3d printed for a quarter of the price my man
Just finished pokemon scarlet. No 2023 arch killed my drive to play animal crossing finally, but I'm waiting to see how the dev of hokko life improves the switch version. Other than that I'm just looking for something new to play. Which will probably be persona 3 when that comes out. At least until next order drops in February as that's my favorite dogimon game and I am excited to replay it off of Playstation jail.
I just finished Xenoblade Chronicles. Is Future Connected something I can breeze through in a couple of hours? I’m ready to be done with this game
nah its like 7-12
I bought mine during Christmas and I'm still playing SMTV.
Weird how using eshop-prices made me buy the majority of the games I wanted cheaper + Holidays sales (Sonic Frontiers, SMTV, Gunvolt 3, Senran Kagura x Neptunia, MegaMan 11).
The expensive ones I'm buying from Chinese stores like Aliexpress like Pokemon Violet that don't deserve full price.
Brazil is hell for 1st Party Nintendo games.
What is everyone planning on picking up this year? So far the only things I'm all on board with are Labyrinth of Galleria and TotK. I'll probably get FE Engage, but I only finished 2 routes in 3H before getting burnt out, so I feel like I shouldn't start a new game, and I'll wait on reviews for Octopath 2, as I didn't really like how disconnected the stories were in the first game. Other than that I'm going to keep an eye on Ys X, Disgaea 7, Rain Code, and Metal Slug Tactics. I'll also pick up Silksong and DQ III if they ever come out.
ToTK, Pikmin 4, Dragon Quest III HD and Silksong are my big wants for the year.
mmbn collection
mario + rabbids when that shit goes on sale
maybe disgaea if it isn't shitty like 6
maybe fire emblem
FE Engage, Fate/Samurai Remnant and that Inti Creates metroidvania so far.
Maybe the new Digimon remaster when it comes out on sale.
>that Inti Creates metroidvania
Grim Guardians?
yup, it looks fun.
ARMS and Mario Tennis Aces. Hard to get matches in Aces, but it's still fun to try and rank up. ARMS is generally quite active. Occasionally playing some Picross. Been stretching out Great Ace Attorney Chronicles, but I might just finish it soon.
Been playing Pokemon Violet. I'm a sucker for breeding and hatching shinies, even if the game needs fixed BADLY.
Pokémon Scarlet is the first Pokémon game I've actually managed to catch shinies on (it's my first Switch Pokémon game. Making shinies show up on the overworld is a godsend, I didnt even hunt for them I just found them while roaming around after getting the Shiny Charm).
Picture related, the lads.
LGPE had overworld shinies, and the catch-combo system increased their likelihood of showing up. It was super fun. The most enjoyable catching experience in the mainline series, I think.
My first shiny ever was a Glimmora who looks so cool and then I got a shiny Zoroark randomly while trying to catch a deer. Felt cool, sadly there's nothing at all to do with them in Scarlet unless you're a PVPgay.
I use my shiny Weavile named Mumkhar in teraraids.
Caught a Shiny Flutter Mane and in the same day a Shiny Sneasel and Shiny Mareep. I do not have a charm or the sandwich. No idea how I got so lucky.
I'm playing path of radiance on pc in preparation for engage. How is P5S? I've heard it is actually good despite being a musou.
I got mario party and three houses, although collection switch games is a b***h since they're all pricey as frick
I can't get myself to buy a Switch.
I always wanted the OLED Switch, but whenever I go to the store, I'm too ashamed/embarrassed to ask a worker if they could pull one out from behind the security glass.
My dad made fun of my older brother's gf because she brought a switch lite when she came over to our house, saying that they're grown adults, they shouldn't be playing video games like a bunch of losers.
You're a grown adult, do whatever makes you happy.
His shame won't let him enjoy it though, he'll always feel guilt.
>you're a grown adult
Literally everything in that post makes it sound like he's 15 at most.
Show your dad some adult games, dude.
Call your dad a weak homosexual and then insult him for watching grown men play sports designed for children before he punches you.
Just finished the Ambulance missions in GTA 3 for the unlimited sprinting. Backlog is wild but can't wait to increase it with P3 and P4.
Did you sand down the finish of your Wii U gamepad?
It's a protective sleeve for it.
Unexpected.
completed link's awakening a few days ago.
all 32 heart pieces, all 50 shells. not doing chamber stones cause all there is to that is rupee grinding
7/10. alright but short and cramped. get it on sale if you can.
>have 40+ shinier in Brilliant diamond over 190 hours
>not a single shiny in 40 hours of scarlet
Real shame. I love shiny hunting but the breeding is awful in scarlet by a huge margin and my interest in the game has fallen off a cliff without home support. I already lost interest after the team star, and titans quest because the pokemkn league shit was just boring and the gym tests were homosexual dogs hit. My meowscarade single handedly made the elite 4 jobbers after I spent time getting to know some of the new pokemon to pick a team which was inevitably a waste of time only to get the judge feature and see my starter have "NO GOOD" on every single IV lmao
I only care about zelda, I don't care about anything else on the switch.
I have no shame when the only game on my switch is botw and soon to be totk.
I want Four Swords on Switch.
I have a lite & never touched any of the 1st party games, only getting for the boatload of third party games like thea & fight n rage
I got DQ Treasures after finally finding it physical. Is a fun and relaxing game, also the pink slime is extremely cute, and is voiced by Megumi Hayashibara.
What would you describe the gameplay as?
I've got a backlog of Switch games and since my gold points were expiring I picked up the Sega Genesis Classics collection to add to it as well. I'm currently playing the hell out of Breath of The Wild while playing shit like Pokemon, Persona 5 Royal, Dragon Quest 11, and just whatever appeals to me at the moment. Frickin love my Switch since I sold an Oculus Quest or whatever gay VR shit I won in a Christmas work lottery to buy a Switch Oled.
i know I'm gonna get a lot of shit for this, but how are these games on switch? everything retro goes on the OLED, those are the rules
I think the games run fine from what I've seen. There's a bit of stuttering in the first game where things get crazy. And the second game's textures look better on the Switch's screen.
>stutter
only in the non-canon expansion siege of dragonspear, the OG game & second are completely fine from what I've played last year
How does it play with a controller?
Never played this and I am thinking about playing on Xbox.
Not that anon, but are those games actually enjoyable to play on Switch? I've had them on my wish list forever and they always go on sale, but I always pass them up because they seem like they're meant to be played with M&Kb.
Beat me to essentially the same question.
