Yes. And it was put together over around 250 years. The Greek used in different parts comes from different time periods and has different regional variants. I studied Ancient Greek like 10 years ago, and the only regional variant I remember off hand is using alpha instead of a different vowel. Things like this make translating the Iliad a pretty advanced test of your Ancient Greek.
