theres some shenanigans you can pull. i.e. skeleton vendors in cities belong to the skeleton faction rather than that city’s faction so you can openly rob their $4k+ prosthetics and $2k repair kits without having to worry about local guards. i use the one in Heft since i use the Rock Bottom starter scenario which spawns you near it

Yea the music on Kenshi is very kino. All the zones have their own music that plays. Swamp is my personal favorite but fuck the swamp zone in general.

Start as a slave. Not only do you learn how to play the game, it’s basically easy mode letting you train your skills while you’re trying to escape. By the time you do get to escape, you’ll know your way around.

Man and his dog is a fun, and slightly more challenging start. Only mods I can recommend are the ones that rebalance the in game economy, and the one that nerfs blood spider range.
This is stated to be the one of hardest starts, but is indeed the easiest, because stats and skills train faster at lower levels, and being a slave gets you some debuffs that lower your stats making early game training for a handful of important skills faster. Also a good way to train toughness, which only goes up from getting the shit kicked out of you. But its also boring.

Why Attack Slots x3? I never had any issues with the number of NPC’s attacking me at once, although that might be because everything kind of clumps together during a fight anyway.

During battles, everyone attacks each other one at a time. If you have 3 members in your party and your enemy has 2, your one NPC just stands in attack stance doing nothing until it’s his turn.
Attack Slots x3 makes it so 3 of your guys can attack 1 enemy, and 3 enemy NPCs can also attack one of your guys. It’s really difficult if you’re outnumbered, but I feel like it adds to my immersion instead of having everyone wait their turn being honorable. -
I don’t feel like I had issues with that being a problem while I played, but I also micromanaged combat, so that might be why.

It’s like crack, but eventually little issues with things like path-finding will get on your nerves late game, when your sending squads jogging across the entire map and they get eaten by cannibals because they got suck on a rock in the middle of the desert while you were fending off Holy Nation paladins at your base camp.

It’s definitely one of the most unique games I’ve ever played, it starts off as an RPG, turns into a squad based RPG, then becomes a Rimworld/DorfFortesque base management game as you progress but you can do whatever you want. Give it a shot.

Man, Kenshi is fucking great, but after you play maybe 50-100 hours and realize how it just boils down to grinding/cheesing stats and then fighting endlessly respawning enemies it loses its appeal.
I REALLY hope that KEnshi 2 has *OPTIONAL* "Win" conditions. Maybe set by the own player in a more official way, and with bigger world changes afterwards. -

There are 2 things that you can easily pinpoint as the cause for it running like shit on dogshit laptops.

>particles/effectsDisabling shadows is easy, but you need a mod to disable particles. It will make your dust storms ugly, but it’s a huge boon to shitty laptops. I didn’t really bother with textures because lower textures look ugly, though texture mods help with loading time between zones.
There’s also apparently a performance tweak in the Kenshi wiki. You have to edit something in the config file. Look it up.

Guards will accost you about your heretics, and if you reply with them as your "friends" instead of property they will attack you. Skeletons are attack on sight of the whole party so don’t have skeletons with you.
