A great game. But let me tell you, turn off all map markers and the game becomes incredible. It really improves the experience and does so with every Arkane game.

However the one exception to this is traveling around in space. You can turn them on then because the movement outside is awkward and confusing.

It’s a great game and be sure to explore wherever you want. You can get to a lot of places early.

TURN OFF MAP MARKERS EXCEPT WHEN FLOATING OUTSIDE.

It’s good, but I’d say it gets fairly trivial around the 60% mark, then around the 80% mark it turns into cheesy bullshit enemies.

Crafting materials that don’t respawn, ever.

It’s pretty boring in the intro but picks up a bit later, the voice acting and sound effects are complete and total garbage.
The enemies are basic and not that fun to mess with.

There’s a mod for the game called Prey Souls that brings more replay value into the game by expanding on the procedural systems. It also rebalances the enemies and powers while introducing some new enemy types. I enjoyed Prey the most with that mod and it elevated the game’s potential. Just had few minor bugs you could occasionally run into.

It used to be on Nexus mods but the author took it down permanently because of personal drama from a bunch of autists. You can still find third party links to the latest version elsewhere. Highly recommend.

I don’t support the author’s handling of the situation but are you one of the hecklers that caused them to take it down?

The mimics can also do some cool stuff and they can do hide and seek, but they’re only a real threat in the mods that rebalance them.

In the default game they don’t work well, and they’ll expose themselves to you on purpose. They’re more like Half-Life’s headcrabs in the vanilla game.

Awesome, immersion, fun. Loses a ton of its value if you spoil yourself though.

The only thing I’ll spoil for you is this: Don’t fall for their lies, install NO neuromods.

Don’t give a shit about the terribly written story. Use the neuromod powers.

Hiding your true ending behind not using them is just bad game design by people that don’t know how to make a commercially successful game.

couldn’t get passed the intro. if i’m not deep into gameplay 2 minutes into clicking ‘start game’ then a game is not worth my time. why don’t modern game devs understand this?

They favor the female counterpart in the story but they only use the male viewmodel in the campaign because they botched the job. Once you’re on the station it doesn’t matter; they gave people the choice for PC brownie points.

IMO Prey Souls or Talos in the Dark made the game more interesting to play. There’s something great underneath the questionable design of the vanilla game.

The right tuning would have made it the success it deserved to be.

they reminded me of the turret section in HL2, i would carry them with me for as far as possible, finding exploits to take them further than was clearly intended

I always liked leaving a turret outside the main office because the game always spawns a mimic in there so the turret always either kills it or at least activates the mimic
