Pretty sure there were a lot of missions over 1.2 tons. I think the biggest one was 2.1 ton where you had to improvise somehow? Don’t remember if I did it by abusing ziplines as if intended or something else, but you couldn’t even do it in one truck delivery.

They can’t carry more than 6 XL cargo. So unless every piece of cargo is 100KG which they never are. You’re not taking it with you. I’ve literally never capped a floating carrrier weight wise. I don’t even use lvl 2 anymore cause they’re a waste.

If you just power through the story and don’t do any of the side content until after you reach the mountains then yeah you have a point. But I 5* all the preppers before I got to the mountains so made use of a lot of the on foot gear they give you. And even then, some of the roads cost a fuck tonne of materials so you’re going to be doing a lot of deliveries on foot anyway. And that’s not even considering the fact that you have to pretty much on foot/off road all the 1st deliveries you make to these preppers anyway since they’re not on the network so you can’t make use of the zip lines etc…

Not sure what your server is like but it’s definitely not like that on mine. I end up doing the vast majority of the work in terms of building zip lines, roads etc… And while I do find the odd useful bridge or generator most of the time they are retardedly places and I have to end up deleting them since they just pollute the world. And it was the same on my 1st play through on PS4 when it 1st released. And anyway like I said your 1st run to any prepper is always going to be devoid of user created structures because the prepper isn’t on the network yet so you won’t have access to these structures yet either.

Just drive. It only takes a few truck stops at MULE bases at most to fully make any roads, and while the vehicles do control like ass over most terrain, it’s still easily manageable.

Who says you can’t? Personally I find the bike to be a little better at it, but either way the tires seem to glitch out and slide down until you stop them entirely and go again. It might be deliberate game design to try and make you think you can’t drive through.

Only when you’re logged in but because you built early you basically get all the resources used to build new roads as repairmaterials. Provided people keep building that road it will pretty much always be in good condition. I built all roads seemingly single-handedly on PS4 launch and I’ve never needed to repair them over the 600 hours of play I had.

In the long run it doesn’t really matter, likes you get from "multiplayer" actions such as building roads, upgrading others structures or delivering player lost cargo only effects the bridgelink part of your star which in turn enables you to make more connections with other players. If I’m not mistaken, even if you delete a save the stuff you did will still persist in other peoples worlds and help them. I think you may even still get likes provided you play on the same account etc.

The problem with Death Stranding is hilariously logistics, isn’t it? Its the problem Metal Gear has where like, you should be intending on going through the map without honestly using your tools, but the game gives you so many options to experiment with, why wouldn’t you?
I just find it so fucking weird that Kojima probably intended for DS specifically to be difficult for a stretch only to introduce vehicles and literally a highway building system the moment you leave tutorial island.

When the conditions are right and you have a littttle bit of help from the other players but mostly its on you and your tools you brought with you, I think that’s the the biggest shine DS has.

they dont actually unlock until you connect to the area network, but people actually play the game so as soon as you connect, you get all the progress of people who have been grinding that area- namely all of the road up to the end point being completed. Day 1 was absolutely dire on console, you’d come back a week later and there would be like two new sections in lategame. i think i finished the game with two pieces missing from Mountain Knot
The whole theme of the game is helping out other people though so the poignancy of having an easy cruise over time really struck the "rebuild together" idea he was going for

Holding your breath makes you invisible to them. Just clamp your hand over your mouth when you’re walking by them. Once you can figure out that mechanic and the actual proximity needed to get caught, sneaking past BTs becomes one of the easier parts of the game.

Timefall decaying drones doesn’t really work because you inexplicably get to use your own drones later for extra deliveries. Of course, the original explanation doesn’t work very well either in that case, unless having the fact of having legs on your delivery bot makes it more palpable to people for some reason.

While we’re on the subject of MULEs, mules are porters that get addicted to transporting right? How is Sam any different from one of them from a metacontextual player perspective? The whole game is about taking on enough delivery jobs to get all those stars, so it stands to reason the player is in it for the same reason a MULE is. "Robbing other deliverymen" isn’t an argument as I robbed the shit out of MULE camps to build roads for my fellow porters.

There’s like 1 other vog area east of Elder and north of Director but other than that no. Although the mask does reduce stamina consumption and increases the duration you can hold ur breath. Fyi, the cap also reduces stamina consumption.

I played it on PS4, again on PC, and now again on PS5, and I’ve only just realised that you can throw a hematic grenade to create a blood cloud, then shoot a regular weapon through said blood cloud, and it will deal even more damage than the regular anti-BT weaponry

I’ve cleared out the bts in some of the small areas and it just removes them and stops giving you the warning. I don’t know about the really big areas though

Usually timefall will stop, the sun comes out, and your odradek does a jingle.

With some of the smaller areas if you kill enough of them it just goes back to normal

BTs become very trivial when you get the cuffs that kill them.

I never even used the cuffs. If you’re not a retard you never run out of hematic grenades, you just throw some at whatever BT is on your way and you can go a straight path towards your objective.
Then when you start getting guns sometimes it’s easier to just trigger the boss and kill it, unless you’re on limited time or with fragile cargo.

You get EX grenades way earlier than that and the no.1’s literally let you walk through an area no problem.

Kojima has a problem of giving you tools that make his games less fun. For example the tranq gun in MGS2 and 3 makes the game arguably less fun, where as anything outside of the stick gun makes Death Stranding less fun. I Can see giving players an option to work towards if they don’t like the base gameplay of Death Stranding but anything outside of walking with a carrier is marketable less fun even if the vehicle controls weren’t retarded. It’s a genuine weakness he has, either in design or concept.

I really hate how trivial Mules and terrorists become in the late game. Feels like a huge misstep to not have them as roving bands that actively get in your way instead of totally optional stealth/combat challenges. Big missed opportunity to not have a proper FOXHOUND unit you go up against along with a bunch of terrorist mooks that actively work against you instead of one incredibly autistic man who is at most a mild nuisance.

Dude, the cargo ain’t that fragile, even on hard. You worry too much. Just pretend you’re like UPS – break a little here, rough up a little there, but most if it gets there okay. And put optional conditions on all your deliveries to fill up stars faster and get better legz ‘n’ sheeit.

Unironically think death stranding is one of the best games I’ve ever played personally.
Just scratches all the right itches for a comfy game mixed with moments of really high stress and problem solving. It really makes all other open world games seem shallow by comparison, walking around being affected by weight and terrain is something every game should have, if you don’t feel the difficulty of getting around the map, what fun is a large open world map anyway? The only one that comes even within striking distance is Breath of the Wild.
All games should have a dedicated ‘rest/meditate/ feature as well.
