I finally finished playing every major JRPG release of the last decade
Here is my top 3:
>1. Octopath Traveler
>2. DragonQuest 11
>3. Valkyria Chronicles 4 -
And here are my top 3 overrated ones

It depends on if you take "most overrated" to mean most often rated higher than it actually is, or to mean largest disproportion between fan rating and actual quality
Xenoblade 2 is certainly more exemplary of the first type of "most overrated" when compared to Trails in the Sky.
Trails fanbase isn’t that big, it’s just really loud

The details man, im a sucker for those. Octopath has an amazing gameplay system, not too complicated but satisfying enough to be fun to play. The ost is also god tier
DQ11 is the exact opposite gameplay wise, its vanilla as fuck. But its executed flawlesly.

the fact that you control the actions of characters in the game, the ability to upgrade and customize said characters. Thats pretty much what defines an rpg.
You can still say its not if youd like of course, but the rest of the world still disagrees with you-
