Tarzan was kind of the first in that turn of the millennium trend of Disney artists getting sick of doing Fantasyland Musicals and wanting to branch out into Adventureland or Tomorrowland, but Disney had done a lot to pigeonhole themselves into that box throughout the Renaissance, so audiences didn’t respond as enthusiastically as a result and now we have obnoxious theater kids on YouTube pooping on it because of it.
