Is there a point in playing Nioh 1 first, or can I jump straight into Nioh 2?

Start at the beginning. Why would you start somewhere else? It’s a joy to play through a game series to see how it evolved or devolved.

listen OP, if you start 2 first and like it you’ll want to go back to 1 but then it’ll feel like shit without the extra stuff from 2 so just start 1, then go to 2. things will make more sense as well, story wise. and the dlc in 1 is ironically better than 2’s. you can skin transform into a chick early/midway if you’re a shit brain coomer

Why wouldn’t you play nioh 1 first?

Nioh 1 is good, but its a gambit, many people enjoyed nioh 2 but not 1
If you are chill you will enjoy both games, there is some fan service in nioh 2 to nioh 1 too that you will enjoy if you play 1 first, both games take a lot of hours to finish, if you ever feel that nioh 1 is repetitive through the playthrough just jump into nioh 2 or else you will burn out
I played both games back to back and never got burnt out so thats that

Just start with 2, Op. I regret investing time into 1 because it made me burn out on 2 faster. Nioh 2 is practically nioh 1.5, and the story is shit anyway.

2 is just better, the story is whatever so no real reason to put yourself through the first game
Probably won’t play Nioh 1 because of it having less enemies stretched out and apparently worse level design. Level design in Nioh 2 is great, but I’ve killed way too many spear apes already.

Is there a way to play just the DLCs of 1? I lost my NG+ save and don’t want to go through the whole game especially after beating 2 recently.

Play through Nioh 2 until point where the timeline catches up to Nioh 1, then play through the entirety of Nioh 1, then return to Nioh 2

Nioh 1 has a set of really fun levels. Ninja mansion ans Sekigahara are top tier.

Definitely play Nioh 1 first unless you get severely burnt out or something, then you’d also be fine jumping ahead to Nioh 2. It’s a much better game in most regards but Nioh 1 was still a really really great game before it came out. Still has a lot of unique levels and bossfights that 2 doesn’t have plus the story is fairly entertaining in my opinion.

God damn what were they thinking with those weapon skill drops? I’ve killed Azai Nagamasa at least 50 times now, no drop. Meanwhile other humanoid bosses I only had to kill 2-5 times to get theirs.

Play Nioh 1. Don’t listen to fags who tried to play both back to back and got burned out. They’re 30-80+ hour games so obviously you’re going to get tired of it after a while.
Just play Nioh 1, and then you’ll have Nioh 2 waiting when you want to come back for more. -

I don’t know what to level
I mostly use 1 and 2 kat and use Owatsumi’s grace which profits off of water elemental weapons. So I tried maxing out those main stats and a bit of onmyoji. I don’t even know how much the Magic stat impacts my elemental weapon.

You should be striving for an unlimited stat
Like unlimited stamina, strength or heart, you get one of those at 150 plus a scroll-

That’s not really a relevant question in the depths since you can use remodeling or transform stats.

I suppose you haven’t played normal dotNioh then, well now weapons drop with interchangeable core stats so you can "mod" with soulmatch a 2kat to make it heart based for example, or constitution based, or anything basically, you just need to max a familiarity of a weapon with the ">Transform Bonus (stat)" and then soul match it to your desired weapon-

Check out some main missions in dotNioh, they are actually pretty nice now with the new placement from DLC3, you will get a few surprises

Just play 2. Nioh 1 is overly long and 2 is better in every way. If you play through 1 first you’ll just be sick of the gameplay by the time you get to 2.

Nioh 2 unironically might have been my GOTY for 2020, it was pretty damn fun.

Nioh 2 shits all over Nioh 1. Nioh 1 has really shitty enemy placement and doesn’t have quite the same level of customization and depth in combat as Nioh 2.
Nioh 2 is already long as fuck so you will get burned out on Nioh 1 from a much shittier game.
