Not that anon, but I really liked how pre-CCU combat felt – attacks felt hefty & chunky like you were actually swinging a heavy bit of metal at another dude. That’s something missing from most if not all fighting games I’ve played – the sense of weight or inertia is removed because everything has to be as fast as possible. Movement, attacks, etc all felt great. There’s stuff like Chivalry and Mordhau but the perspective change does make a difference I think.
Oh? I guess I was wrong then, apologies. It’s usually a pretty good assumption that the PC will have a smaller playerbase on games like this.

Mordhau gets progressively less fun the better you and your opponents are. The only reason one good player dies to another in an autistic chambering contest is by making multiple minor mistakes in a row. The only fun thing to do after getting gud is pubstomping with a maul or memeing with peasant weapons. Chivalry 1 had the exact same problems and Chiv 2 probably will as well (can’t say since I’m not buying anything from Timmy).

Unfortunately they got rid of most ledges in 1v1’s. Nothing seemed to upset people more than killing them with a ledge. Was the most fun in the game.

The funny thing about FH is that the biggest reason it’s so shitty is that it isn’t really a fighting game
So many of the base gameplay issues they’ve been struggling with since release and never managed to fix are things the fighting game genre figured out 20 years ago.-
Did they ever fix the "ganking" issue in the team modes? If someone kills their 1v1 quick enough, it becomes a snowball of killing the other team in a 2/3v1 way too often.

CCU update sped it up and it didn’t feel right any more. I liked For Honor because it wasn’t a fighting game. Plus the removal of stuff like spikes, pits, ledges and stuff.

said is the difference – that kind of issue only really became a problem once you’d gotten REALLY good at it, high-level play sucked but the low-level play was still pretty fun. The CCU made low-level play shitty, and fucked over the console since it had capped 30FPS.

For Honor had a lot of potential to be fun but was ruined by players being shit. If your team is shit they’ll lose their fights and leave the enemies to group up on you, if the enemy is shit they run away so that they can find their team and group up on you. Even in solo fights there were too many people that would realise they couldn’t beat you within like 10 seconds and just wanted to bait you all over the map to try for a ring out. I’ve never seen a fighting game were so many people didn’t actually want to fight.

i think its biggest problem is if you’re in a shit team you will get absolutely fucked and have an awful time, they don’t even have to be bad players, i have played with people better than me but they all just ignore the objectives and stay in the middle which guarntees losing-
Yeah, Ubisoft’s handling of it upsets me since it’s a one-of-a-kind – I really wish there were some clones of it. Maybe the skeleton cane guy who was part of the original dev team should try again with a different company. Ubisoft’s esports cancer focus, their "let’s make all the classes into HEROES" approach to design irks.

They switched back and forth between 1v1 and 4v4 balance. That’s why people say the game is inherently flawed, no matter what you do, one part of the game goes down the drain. Make it team modes only.

I dunno, generally I like the theme they were going for and all that, the idea of the game sounded nice in concept as well but the execution just starts feeling like cancer once you get used to it. It was the same for Mordhau, the moment everyone starts learning all the mechanics, they’ll try and find ways to abuse them or break the supposed rules of the game so it all just devolves into an absolute shitfest.
Also not to mention that everyone at the start just seems to be playing for fun, until they learn how the game works, then they just end up playing it to win and tryhard.
