The smaller environments in Souls 3 allowed for more curated environments that could hide the limitations of the engine on the PS4’s anaemic hardware.
One of the biggest issues of why graphics seem to have stagnated for years is that large environments can’t be lit very convincingly without quite a significant amount of horsepower.
I do wonder if PS5/SeX will use RTGI or RTAO to stop the visuals looking so flat. -

Graphics plateaued a long time ago. PS5 games are just 1440p (upscaled to 2160p) PS4 games, PS4 games are just 1080p PS3 games, and PS3 games are just 720p PS2 games.

It was a 20-something second video of the environment that was most likely an older build (not to mention it’s still months from release and graphics sliders exist) and people are getting pissed off and analyzing it frame-by-frame.

honestly I think its fine, there is a point of diminishing returns for games graphics and since it basically looks like the same level of quality as sekiro/DS3 thats good enough, the more important thing is is the game going to be any different or will it just be DS3+a horse, which still wouldn’t be that bad, you don’t want a halo situation where they try to change up the gameplay and they fuck it up.
