true, it can be pretty damn spooky

And one of the best. The atmosphere, lore, sound design, baker family. I still can’t believe they pulled such an amazing survival horror game after all those years, kudos to all the developers.

Yeah, they really nailed it. Plus the video tape with the three documentry makers was near perfect horror

Scary or not it just nails the atmosphere.
RE engine may lack in facial fidelity it amazes in scenery

I disagree. It’s a very scary Resident Evil game, but I think REMake is the scariest game in the Resident Evil Franchise.

Remake is a close contender for me
In terms of horror in the RE series for me it goes like this
        RE7>Remake>RE2remake>RE3>RE2>RE1>RE0>REoutbreak>RE4>RE8>RE3remake>Revelations>revelations2>RE5>RE6

solid list. i might bump outbreak and 0 ahead of RE1 and i thought revelations 2 was a little spookier than the first.

I want RE to go back to this more grounded close to home horror
RE8 was fun but it was far too goofy too be scary with it’s castles and old villages and shit
I want to go back to creepy old lived in houses that tell a story just from the environment.

I wouldn’t mind a first person RE game set in a city that has you wandering around abandoned office buildings and hospitals.

          >I wouldn’t mind a first person RE game set in a city that has you wandering around abandoned office buildings and hospitals
I’d love an RE game that feels a little bit like Cry of Fear. COF is scary but very low budget and jank so a real budget behind something like that would rule.

Both are great games I’m planning on replaying Fatal frame 5 this Halloween I love that series and prey to god will get another one someday.

      >this is what makes zoomers shit their pants
im a neurotic mess millenial and this is honestly pathetic.
the heisenberg mission (when the lights went out and you were being chased by the frankenstein abdominations through the claustrophobic hallways) from RE-COOM was way scarier than the entire game
      >OMG REDNECKS IN A DILIPIDATED CRACK-DEN IM GOING IIIIINSAAAANEEEE AAAA!!!

It’s admirable that you’re trying to bridge gaps between generations, but RE8 is probably the least scariest game of the series (outside of maybe RE4).

I had never played a RE game but decided to try 7. It’s amazing. What other RE games should I check out after? I saw games with gold had one for free so I snagged that but I don’t remember which one it was

honestly the only ones that are outright not worth playing are 6 and the light gun games. 5 is generally regarded as one of the worst and even that is fun with a friend.

RE Remake is easily one of the greatest games of all time.
Despite being 20 years old it looks amazing

Almost all of them are worth a go the only truly bad mainline RE game is 6
if you are starting out I’d say give either RE2 Remake or RE4 a try they are very easy to pick up and play and are amazing games in different ways
Either way hope you have a good time mate..

The closest RE to 7 is definitely Remake, or maybe RE2make.

Arguably the best level design overall I t he series to next to REmake

        >The basement
I was playing RE7 in VR when I first played it
I still remember looking down that long ass staircase to the basement and feeling legit dread I didn’t even have the shotgun by that point and only like two clips of ammo so I was pooping myself I was walking slowly and dreaded every corner turn of that basement

I just wish Lucas had been a scary hunter with a vicious hound instead of an autistic redneck with a Saw fetish. I get the feeling they were told to tone down the game from whatever the original concept was though.

Was there any notes with that concept, some of the ideas look great. You’re right about lucas.

Maybe this is just how I feel but I think the more down to earth designs added to the horror
the Bakers look like a normal family that’s been corrupted
the concept art looks cool but it’s too over the top

        RE7 for sure.
The whole package works very well as a simple tight experience.RE8 have a amazing cast and probablt the only OST of the franchise in wich i can remember to this day but everything else lacks somehting.

7 by a mile, i just wish the time wasted on developing everything after you leave the main house was spent on making it much bigger instead. RE8 is so mediocre its unbelievable the same team made it.
