no its a matter of making it harder for the people who do want to play these games. yes they would obviously still exist if the only way to play them was on PC or they didn’t have any HUGE publishers behind it, but they absolutely would be less popular as they would be harder to obtain and likely lower budget which would lower interest as the absurd budget a company like sony can throw behind these games is a big appeal of this "genre"

All 3 have something relevant to offer but how they go about it is different. I would remove Sony because I don’t like how their entire business model is to just bribe publishers to keep multiplatform games off all other platforms and make them timed exclusive. Its just scummy. Nintendo doesn’t really do timed exclusives and Microsoft puts literally everything on PC. I just wish everyone left 3rd party games alone and focused on making the best 1st party games possible and then we all benefit from that. No consumer benefits from timed exclusives.

When Microsoft was doing exclusivity it was most often just a month or so maximum. Playstation on the other hand are pushing for 2+ YEARS of exclusivity. That alone deems them worse enough to be removed.

before this generation i would have xbox, and honestly with their gamepass bullshit clearly being a setup to make people more accepting of blatant digital game rentals i can’t blame anyone for saying xbox. however, between this past playstation showcase, both TLOU games, them shutting down studio japan, their constant insistence on making story-based movie games in general instead of actual good games, and also the censorship bullshit they started pulling last gen, i have to say sony. it hurts, cause for a long time they put out some of my favorite games. i love all the ape escape games with 3 still being my 2nd favorite platformer of all time, i love all 4 sly cooper games, ico is an experimental masterpiece, i loved all 3 infamous games (yes SS is good fight me faggots), and gravity rush 2 is one of my favorite games of all time as well.

Assuming we remove them from the timeline and they never existed, I would prefer not to touch any of them. Doing so leaves too much up to chance, outside of the obvious changes, like Nintendo not existing doesn’t cause Sony to join the market.
If it’s just "one goes out of business right now because hypotheticals", I would likely go with Nintendo or Microsoft. I have attachments to both companies, but I think leaving Sony might be healthier for the market if PCs also stay around, replacing Xbox. I’d still rather not any of them though.

Nintendo saved console gaming after the 83 crash. It was dead outside of Japan until the NES.
The PS1 then saved console gaming again in the 90’s when Nintendo had a lock on consoles with Sega falling way behind.
Nintendo had excellent games but their dedication to being family friendly kept more mature content off consoles.PS changed that with games like MGS, bringing more adult stories and gameplay from PC to consoles.

Its from experience. I played last of us, uncharted 2, and heavy rain. I sold my ps3 a week after beating last of us and never looked back. I loved the ps2 and the psp, I think sony had the peak gaming platform for those years, but they have been arrogant since.
