There’s legitimate complaints to be made about BBS but a lot of it comes from a handful of autistic speedrunners and their parroting fans.
Also it’s a PSP game and its controls don’t translate perfectly to consoles. Ganker liked BBS at release.-

Seriously, Ganker’s opinion on BBS is one of the biggest swings I’ve ever seen. Closer to release everyone was calling it good and considered it like the high point of the series, now everyone is acting like it’s a bottom 2 game.-

BBS isnt a great game, but it is perfectly acceptable. The story isnt great, but it didnt entirely jump the shark until DDD.

This. BBS isn’t perfect at all. But honestly when I first played it, it reminded me a lot of the good things that KH1 had, like actual platforming, and disney worlds being decently relevant. DDD is where the franchise shat itself.

BBS is a good game. my only issue with it is you play as three different characters, and you all play the same worlds. It should have been a handful of worlds are all revisited with each character getting 2, or 3 new worlds. The command deck isn’t even bad per say, but having to use it to pop potions makes it so you have to have a cure spell 100%, or the game shits, and farts all over you. There’s is literally zero reason to pop potions in BBS unless you’re literally retarded, and failed to understand that cure negates ever having to use them. I guess my only other issue with the game? Combat is really floaty, and almost not as input responsive as I’d like it to be. This makes boss fights with humanoid enemies like venitas put you into a situation where you HAVE to use gravity/magnera as a cheese to get around how fast said enemies can fucking dogpile you. your block won’t input fast enough mid combo for you to cancel out, so you’re dedicated to putting in said attack. BBS=DDD and I like both, but prefer the mainline games over them.

Actually that’s DDD, because DDD is the one that decided to keep that stupid fucking Command Deck AND that stupidly unfun flowmotion that ruins any platforming the games might have had before.
Story wise, if if the BBB trio became the main trio and characters with them ultimately fighting and defeating Xehanort instead of Sora, it would have been a far better trilogy of games.

ACTUALLY, I’m gonna name the game that actually put this franchise on its current shitty projectory, and it’s 358/2 days. It created Xion, who is a fucking NOTHING character who really doesn’t have any good reason to exist other than "muh sob story". Had a fucking nonsense plot, and awful gameplay. This is honestly where Kingdom Hearts started to go downhill, and reaching the peakiest of cringe.

It’s a Kingdom Hearts game. KH games are fun.

command deck, which fills up a meter bar faster than allows you a pseudo final form. you also get a cool gambling minigame along with the minigames present in disney park. story is fun, but not anything near mainline KH games, and it was previously praised because BBS, and Crisis Core were ahead of their time in terms of being PSP games.
