It will never not baffle me that this man decided that trying to use fire in an ice area is not only bad, but so uniquely haram that it warranted the single worst penalty torches could impose on luck in the game, even worse than sticking a good torch in your evil biome and vice versa. Besides that, though, I’m not really that disappointed with 1.4 and it introduced a lot of small stuff that I really can’t go back from having, like smart doors.

Oh, I know, and I spent the vast majority of hardmode firing musket balls and flaming arrows. Like, there’s a bunch of ammo types (especially bullets) that are good for various kinds of non-boss or event purposes, but they might as well not exist. If push comes to shove, I’ll just die and try again. It’s easier than buying several separate materials and slowly crafting separate stacks of ammo that will last shorter than the time it takes to make them, then micromanaging them.

You barely ever need to speak to them most of the time anyway. Getting the housing set up the first time is a bit of a pain finding working combinations, especially if you’re trying to get pylons set up ASAP, but once it’s done it’s nice being able to hop around the world pre-hardmode.

I’d qualify this for myself by saying the later hardmode bosses. Running around on the ground and using double or more jumps or double-tap evasion is fun, but using minecarts or flying vehicles just wasn’t fun to me in combat. Then there’s just so many projectiles on the screen that I can’t tell what the hell is going on in multiplayer.-
most of the game after hardmode becomes really unfun really quickly, and instead of fixing it they just redid all the spritework presumably because a lot of employees had to look busy at least until they covered this month’s mortgage payment.

The Empress of Light seems fun but they somehow one-upped the Duke’s summoning method in terms of obnoxiousness.

While I don’t disagree in general (boss summoning is one of my least favorite parts of the game), it does help to use a Blood Moon or two to farm them, along with water candles and a battle potion (up to midnight, then go underground for the worms). You should get a good dozen or so of each at least. -

This is like the one thing that I’m actually unhappy about in the update. They made one of the very, VERY few weapon subclasses that both feel like actual melee weapons AND manage to fit into Terraria’s endgame combat, and they gave it to fucking summoners. Most/all Terraria melee should be designed the way whips were.
Imagine if they just made some kind of buffing weapons (maybe even musical instruments for a bard vibe) to fill the "mainhand" slot of a summoner, that would empower both minions and possibly to a lesser degree players. It would fit well with summoners since their very point is having their fighting done for them by someone else, and it would give them a unique flavor and a combat role.

Sequence breaking is dogshit if it’s not earned. Some weirdo weeb called Ningishu did a Hardcore Master Mode run to get Terraprisma and bsequence-broke by killing Duke Fishron with Snapthorn (pre-hardmode jungle whip) and enchanted daggers (early hardmode minions). That was cool. Sitting on your arse with a string on a stick and after a couple minutes suddenly being able to skip the entirety of pre-hardmode is gobshite and anyone who disagrees is a fag. It’s not obscure, it’s not some cool trick, it’s easy mode abuse of an oversight.

It was just an extremely overhyped update that didn’t bring much to the table when it came to content, just a lot of quality of life, cosmetics and the sort.
The fact that the update came with some controversial balance changes like Reaver Shark, not being able to bomb meteors, happiness, torches affecting drop rates (this got fixed already somewhat), and others and master mode just being a multiplier on damage done by enemies ended up being the perfect storm-

I can tell you never bothered to actually read on the mechanic if you thought there was anything ok about it.
Luck affects almost every RNG roll in game, you’d have to be constantly managing or crafting torches to not get fucked in the ass while exploring. Sure positive luck did increase the rolls but punishing the player for not doing what you want them to do has been proven to be terrible game design years ago, and was also the reason red eventually changed it.-

Even that is debateable. Being limited to background/foreground breeds a different kind of creativity. Harder to achieve a good looking result, but not necessarily better or worse then full 3D. Terraria also has access to more aesthetic options than minecraft.

Overall, I think we can all agree that the game still has its share of flaws and issues. Nobody here can say that it’s perfect. Once tmodloader finally updates, whenever year that happens, we can mod it to play it any way you want. I’d say that’s a good compromise. The base gameplay is still serviceable, so it’s not like it’s a broken game that needs mods, but there are things people missed about 1.3.5, and I don’t blame them for wanting to downgrade in specific places.

Are you refusing to play the game with torch luck (can no longer be negative btw) and happiness out of principle, just to uphold your moral values, or do you (falsely) believe it to genuenly impact how you play?

Hapiness barely matters and pylons more than make up for it. The only thing you really need it for is to buy the pylon, and after that one NPC and a pet can keep it together for you. The towns are extremely useful too, since you can use them to have safe areas in stuff like the underground desert or hallow. I still build commieblocks for npcs I dont like, who cares if the stylist and clothier cost 20% more? I guarantee you end your playthrough with probably 50 unspent platinum anyway.

Almost all melee weapons worth using are pretty much just ranged weapons that don’t use ammo. Some of them just do a bit more damage up close if it comes to that or you feel like you can get away with it.

The biggest problem with terraria is the huge amount of time you spend doing nothing the more you advance into the game, you want a frozen turtle shell? Have fun killing an uncommon enemy 500 times. Need potions or materials for a boss spawner? 20 minutes of killing pre hardmode enemies for drops, hell this may even be the first time you play the game so after those 20 minutes you get killed by the boss and 20 more minutes of doing nothing await you, the final boss is the epitome of this since both ways to sumon him require you to do a stupid long event that takes atleast 15 to 25 minutes of sitting and killing the worst set of enemies in the game.

Add an accessory that is a fusion of the mana cloak and the celestial emblem, to make an actually worthwhile mage emblem trinket. Maybe throw in the magic/celestial cuffs for good measure, though might be a bit too good.
Can also add a summoner line for the titan glove as the dedicated summoner emblem trinket. I reckon since those little shits refuse to add autoswing to whips, a glove accessory is more important to a summoner than a warrior.
Mentioned in the thread earlier, but add a mage equivalent of the endless pouch and quiver, like a bottomless mana potion. Mana potions are pretty much as essential for mages as ammo is for rangers.
Make class-based sidegrades for the Celestial Shell. It’s among the best accessories in the game, fantastic for every character, but warriors benefit from it the most because of the werewolf form only giving a melee damage bonus. Make some kind of gargoyle looking mega vampire for mage (like that Drakula form from Castlevania or the Vampire Lord from Skyrim). I don’t know what to give rangers or summoners, though.
And while on the topic of the shell, make it so the entire transformation form draws it’s color from it’s accessory slot. I mix’n’match all of my outfits, and it often takes different dyes to make the outfit click, so the transformation looks like vomit because it’s 3 different colors.
I have ideas for reworks for happiness, mounts, light pets and minecarts, but there’s a lot of stuff, and I realised that nobody cares, so I can’t be bothered to write it all.-

Endless pouch shot a weak ammo anon,while mana is just mana,would be broken-
Nope. Mana potion sickness is a thing, and it impacts your DPS. That’s why it’s always better to make bigger mana potions, to minimize the uptime of that debuff. Using an endless mana potion, you can fine tune the amount of mana restored per usage and the mana sickness uptime so that it impacts the DPS as a balancing measure, not unlike the endless ranger ammo.
