GuestOh please. If they did it 1:1 with the original controllers of having a slot in the back to put the rumble pak into you’d bitch about how stupid Nintendo is for not having it integrated already or how Nintendo are big garden gnomes for charging you separately for the controller and the rumble pak.

Guestwhat the fuck are you even talking about? You can adjust deadzone amount, deadzone shape, and sensitivity of the analog stick. There is no Nintendo "magic" that makes the game only work with one proprietary analog stick, fuck off.

GuestI think he’s more referring to the fact that that 64 controller has 6 buttons and a middle shoulder button. Modern controllers aren’t exactly perfectly fit for that. You can make it work, but you’d have to make a separate controller config for every game, since almost every game uses the C-buttons differently.
-
October 16, 2021 at 2:54 pm #445374
Anonymous
GuestYou just use the second analog stick for C-buttons… Most games have absolutely moronic C-button layouts so I typically rebind that shit anyways.

All you need is fingers long enough to comfortably hold the two sides, using the analog stick with your left thumb and the z trigger with your right ring finger. Then it is just a single stick+ d pad controller with 6 face buttons, two shoulder buttons and a trigger, which is a perfect layout for everything that isn’t a twinstick shooter or flight game.

Fair.
>top-notch d-pad
Absolutely not. Diagonals are absolute shit.
>most input options for rebinding due to touchpad
The touchpad has nothing to do with input rebinding, that’s entirely software side and most systems think the pad is a one-button pointing device.
>significantly better analog sensitivity and accuracy than the Xbox controller
Incorrect, and the sticks also are more likely to fail than an Xbox controller.
>optional haptic triggers and haptic feedback
Haptic feedback has always been shit and the haptic triggers are garbage.-

Guest>Absolutely not. Diagonals are absolute shit.
I don’t play fighting games but I have no problem hitting diagonals, and it’s a pretty popular controller for fighting games, no?>that’s entirely software side
DS4Windows allows you to use gyro and touch functionality for a ton of purposes like changing profiles or macros or as different keys or key combinations. Steam also allows you to use gyro and both sides of the touchpad for rebinding (this is two extra buttons since touch pad is just used for an additional start/select in 99% of Steam games)>Incorrect, and the sticks also are more likely to fail than an Xbox controller.
Nope. That was already fixed, and was a very loud, very small vocal minority in the first place (Sony replaced all controllers for free anyways)>Haptic feedback has always been shit and the haptic triggers are garbage.
then disable them-

Guest>pretty popular controller for fighting games
I’m afraid you’re going to need statistics for that claim.
>etc etc
Yes? DS4Windows/Steam is software side. That’s not inherently a feature of the controller. It’s literally just a touchpad and a button. It’s not going to work everywhere you can possibly use a controller, e.g. Android, older consoles through a mayflash adapter, Linux using hid-playstation, etc
>That was already fixed
Sure, tell me that again in a year or so. Nintendo also "fixed" their failing sticks multiple times and we all know how that turned out.
>then disable them
Fair for haptics, not for the triggers.
The triggers are too deep to work well with games that expect digital triggers and on top of that, some methods of use end up with the default haptics, e.g. moderately stiff instead of loose.-

Guest>I’m afraid you’re going to need statistics for that claim.
>SCIENCE!!!
I’m afraid you need to go back>Yes? DS4Windows/Steam is software side.
The point is you have more input options you fucking moron. With less buttons there is only so many ways you can bind them. With a touch pad, which is two buttons + swipes (directional, two fingers, etc.) plus gyro, it gives you way more input options.>Sure, tell me that again in a year or so. Nintendo also "fixed" their failing sticks multiple times and we all know how that turned out.
cope>The triggers are too deep to work well with games that expect digital triggers and on top of that, some methods of use end up with the default haptics, e.g. moderately stiff instead of loose.
Then adjust where the triggers activate in DS4Windows or Steam or just rebind the controls… You can have them as hair triggers so a digital input goes through the second they actuate… how fucking stupid are you? You can rebind this however you want for any game with Steam (including games you add) or have DS4Windows profiles for analog vs. digital triggers and just double-swipe to change profiles in literally a second. But yes, let’s have little shitty digital triggers instead so you have one option and no choice.
Go play with your Switch you fucking manchild.

Again, you didn’t read anything I wrote.
>Go play with your Switch you fucking manchild.
I’m a PCfag and use a DS controller for literally everything, moron. It doesn’t change that games that use L2/R2 like a button and expect you to push it repeatedly work like ass with analog triggers, especially the DS’. They worked much better with the DS4 and DS3 due to the distance you need to push in.Nice to see you have no valid arguments, though. I accept your concession. Go suck snoy’s dick, I’m sure they care. Meanwhile, I’ll continue to use what sucks the least and point out the flaws.

Guest>That’s not how making sweeping assumptions works.
You made a sweeping generalization that it sucks for diagonals, which is false. Maybe YOU suck with diagonals.>You didn’t even read what I wrote, apparently.
You said that more inputs can only be utilized with software. That’s not true because some games do utilize the touchpad, especially console games. And second of all.. why the fuck would you NOT use software when it gives you so, so much more customization and features?? My point was that having more inputs through gyro, touchpad, and swipe allows you to map more inputs and hotkeys within software like DS4Windows or Steam. What the fuck is your point here that you need software to rebind and hotkey them?>Yes, just like how you’re coping with the fact that you can’t refute anything I just said.
I can’t refute that you need software for controller customization? I wasn’t ever trying to refute that. You made a strawman in your head. Take your meds.> It doesn’t change that games that use L2/R2 like a button and expect you to push it repeatedly work like ass with analog triggers
That’s either a game or Steam issue. Most programs outright let you adjust trigger deadzone, and if they don’t you can always adjust it for any game ever through DS4Windows or Steam. DS actually has smaller trigger deadzones than both DS3 and DS4 so this is just a complete nonsense point. Use a profile for digital triggers in DS4Windows, rebind certain actions off triggers in games, make a template with hair triggers in Steam and apply it to certain games. It’s really not that fucking complicated, you have numerous ways that all work perfectly fine. Personally, even with deadzone set to zero, I would rather only use triggers (for ANY controller) only for actions that are infrequent and don’t require rapid pressing or timing (like map, inventory, etc.)Seriously, what the fuck is even your point here? Do you just not understand how Steam Config and DS4Windows work?

Nah, at this pace it will take sony like 20 years to make a perfect controller.

GuestWhere did this shit come from? I brought out my N64 a few months ago and all the controllers still worked after years of constant use around 20+ years ago. Even my main blue controller didn’t have a stick problem.

GuestAll N64 sticks by nature of the design grind down the bowl. Supposedly you can delay this by applying grease in it and some folks have modded it with a metal bowl. It’s very much a When not If situation, if your sticks are good like yours or mine you avoided Mario Party 1 and only played more gentler games or didn’t do or die on them when playing party games.
If you eliminate the grinding design flaw though they’re very good sticks. Capable of doing some very fine movements modern analog sticks are incapable of which is why there’s never been a perfect clone controller.

GuestMaybe they’ll use metal bowls on these, but that may just be too optimistic

This. I’ve never even owned a PlayStation, but the DualSense is my controller of choice on PC. The Xbox controller doesn’t even come close.

GuestThey need to change the analog stick internally. Everything else is fine though they will probably put rumble inside the controller so it won’t be like the original at all

probably the main issue for me, since if there is significant input lag I might be turned away from the games entirely. -

GuestThere are copetards saying that if you were supposed to use the analog stick, you had to hold the middle prong with one of your hands.
The controller is just badly designed.
