Big Boss/Naked’s core principle is that soldiers shouldn’t be manipulated and discarded for the ulterior motives of their superiors. That Soldiers should be able to pick the causes they fight for. This motivation was instilled in him by the way the US Government manipulated and sacrificed The Boss for their own desire for the Philosopher’s Legacy.
Naked then goes ahead with Ocelot’s manipulation of Medic/Venom, allowing his full personality to be wiped, all so that Naked can combat Cipher more safely. There’s never a consideration of what Venom wants or believes in, so much so that they eradicate most of his personality and replace it with a facsimile of BB;s

I really wonder why people never bring up this point much, all they care about is muh Wolfmantis Raven heartwarming touching boss dialogue, the obvious speech about how genes don’t determine personality, YOU ENJOY ALL THE KILLING, but never anything about Solid and Liquid’s dynamic other than that they are twins and have a beefy hate for each other.Snake being a messenger of darkness yet doing good in the name of justice and Liquid being a messenger of light yet doing evil in the name of the flames is a message outcrying against and denouncing the concept of inherence, prejudice, and therefore race. It also fits in with Snake’s predisposition to killing having nothing to do with the fact that he does good.
Overall, MGS1 is a story against racism and it reinforces what The Boss says in MGS3.

It’s the whole reason he creates MSF, because the government did not need him anymore.
