Personally I think that the harder the game gets, the more necesary is to properly use every system the game offers. Difficulty modes that take shit away from the player are bad due to the designers just giving up and taking strong options away instead of designing expecting them.
I genuinely love Expert on terraria cause it requires and rewards the use of buff potions and specific mechanics you might had never knew even existed like the the Flasks for Melee or any mobility option for the more agressive and mobile bosses.

There’s absolutely nothing wrong with that statement. You don’t overcome challenge in Terraria hardcore by being more skilled, you do it by farming meta items every step up to make sure you’re always overpowered for what’s to come. That’s tedium, not skill.

idk about water bolt but reaver shark got nerfed into unusable trash tier, theres no reason to get it now.
the torches also made it so you had to place the right torches in the right biomes, otherwise you would get a luck debuff, Red removed it because fucking nobody liked it, and he was salty about it.
also comets only spawn after corruption boss which also makes no sense. -

There’s no risk in hardcore either since you can just start another world with a new character and get whatever you had previously in few hours. The difference between softcore and hardcore is just 10 second or 10 hours to get back where you were. It makes you more cautious but not more skilled. Trying to fight multiple bosses at once or making a small and enclosed arena if you want to improve your skill or something.

This feature absolutely adds nothing to the game. I bought the ocean, cavern, forest and jungle pylons very early into the game by simply making two shitty houses and send the nurse + arms dealer there. Hell, for the cavern pylon I didn’t even bother to make a goddamn house. I just placed a few missing walls from an underground house, placed a chair, crafting table and a torch and that was enough to be able to purchase the pylon and get the massive discount.

Yes, but why should I get a discount for doing these fucking worthless tasks? Maintaining the pylon network doesn’t even take any effort, just send two random NPCs that you don’t care about to maintain them. Or hell, just send two compatible NPCs to mainthem so that you get the discounts. It’s not like it fucking matters since you still get access to every single NPC anytime if you use the pylon network.
