My dad used to play Doom and Duke Nukem 3D, then tried to play OoT but couldn’t get into it.
Like 20 years later my brother tried to get him into games by having him play ICO. gently caressing ICO, the game with no controller prompts or handholding. I’d have started him out with Telltale TWD S1 or some shit

My dad despised video games and resented my mom for enabling my habit. He signed me up for basketball, baseball, football and soccer because I was big/tall as a kid. Each was uniquely humilatung and I hated all of them. It took years of therapy before I could watch them on TV without feeling intense rage. The only game that piqued his curiosity was Halo 2.

I like both sports and games, but I can see why so many gamers hate sports now. Whether it be film, cartoons, TV shows, sex, cars, music, vidya, or sports, it’s all a big distraction anyway, just different flavors. Different people have different priorities on how they spend their free time.

My father told me he would play doom on his work laptop in the car while on duty as a cop. At least he tells me he did. Tbh I have no clue what the time period for this was, and I’m pretty sure if anything it was just wolfenstein or something else instead. He saw me playing HROT a couple days ago and thought it was doom and brought up the good ol days again, so thats where his knowledge of vidya is at. Still love the guy though, and want to see him get back into boomer shooters.

      >Red Alert 2 (Yuri’s Revenge)
      >Fallout 4
      >Warcraft 3 GemTD
      >Division 2

I don’t know why, but he picks a game and just dumps hours into it for years. It doesn’t stick to a genre either.

When I was a kid, my dad played a ton of PC games, but I have the most fond memories of watching him play Warcraft and Diablo 1. He also played a lot of Civ back then. Nowadays he literally only plays Civ V, other than when we have a family game night.

still plays every 3d era gta game once in a while, he tried to play the hd games out of morbid curiosity but had a terrible time with gta4’s driving phisics and autoaim, he had a better tiem with five but still hated the aiming, i wish someone made a dad mod for the hd games

We played mortal kombat 2 once, I was 8 so he would have been around 27 then but things were bad in his life and he had a lot of issues with addiction and probably some other things that were disturbing him emotionally. I realize now that I’m in my 30s that he was just trying to find his place in the world and didn’t have a lot of guidance. There were just some lessons he had to learn on his own.

My dad mostly plays NCAA basketball and some Poker game on his daughter’s old Xbox 360. Sometimes he gets enthusiastic about it and will tell us about how the career mode in those games is going for him. I love seeing my dad playing vidya, even if it’s normie shit like those two games. Guy works like twelve hours a day so it’s nice to see him lying back on his reclining sofa and playing a ten year old game.
