GuestI would really encourage you to keep at it. There are hurdles in the game but they feel really good to get over.

GuestBasically any game that requires quick reactions. I even remember doing that test where you grab the ruler and consistently getting some of the worst results in the school.

Guestthere’s only one thing that triggers me in this solution, it’s the fact that in the right part of the puzzle, the 2 leftmost piston arms never extend nor retract a single time, and could instead be replaced by regular arms, thus reducing the cost of the solution

GuestDoes anybody even care about price optimization? The only things I played around were size and speed because they made the machines look cooler.

GuestFactorio is so stressful. Everytime i open the game up again I want to cry because my factory looks like shit and theres so much stuff to do its overwhelming.

Guestthat’s the cool part tho
theres ALWAYS something to improve or expand in your factory
you slowly replace and improve segments making it more complex and efficient until at one point you’re not sure how everything works and interconnects
one of the coolest shit in vidya imo

GuestI don’t get the fuss with Factorio because it’s entirely possible to brute-force any problem in it. Unless you care about super-efficiency, you can slap together anything and win so long as you can correctly plug the assembler output/inputs together.
SpaceChem I never got through the final few levels simply because they become so restrictive in what you can do.

Guestthe goal is to build a factory that isn’t total garbage
im not suprised people here need to be given a goal to feel like games have a point-

Guestthere’s always been both kinds of posters
some appreciate a sandbox like dorf fort or factorio and others like more concretely defined goals -

GuestFor me games like Infinifactory did it better, since you could optimize your factory for space or speed, and directly see how well you ranked compared to the average. Seeing a poor score usually did motivate me to go back and find a better solution. Factorio never really gave me that kind of motivation, and now all the screenshots I see are modded games that have completely changed the constraints of the challenge.

Guestit’s one of the easier zachtronics games to get into imo, the like spatial manipulations you have to perform are more readable and the way you execute them is easy to understand
exapunks is probably the best entry point to the programming ones as it’s a bit of a middleground between that and like, tis-100

GuestSpace Station 13 has a weird learning curve where it feels like the basics are just weird to learn due to having mechanics that aren’t really found in other games but then there’s so much stuff you can do. The only way to train something in isolation is setting up your own server. The hard part is not mastering one thing, but mastering everything, because the mechanics in a lot of the different roles don’t translate that well into other roles. Doing XenoBio is a game within itself, along with chemistry plumbing setups, atmos set-up and circuitry. With circuitry you can literally code within the game, nanites too but simpler. Beyond that, some servers, like Goonstation, has "secret recipes" which you can barely find anywhere online and that you have to ask others to teach you through roleplay when playing. Most servers have different code and some roles are completely different depending on which server you play on. Even when playing on a big server, there’s always the risk that you don’t have materials, leading you to not be able to even train the mechanics you intend to. You could also be randomly assassinated with items you didn’t know exist.
10/10, only game I can play for 8 hours straight without feeling bored.

GuestI love that you have to learn on the job rather than practice alone. Panicked wiki searches and blind guessing solutions under pressure is half the fun. The other half is the best quality anonymous online human interactions I’ve ever had in a game.

GuestI solved the problem by hand, only for the ACTUAL solution (which I had to find in game) to be logically inconsistent with the hint. Apparently it’s a common bug.
