GuestI asked for mecha, not mech. Even so, I already played all of the MechWarrior games.
Looks floaty / weightless as fuck. I mean, yeah, mechas tend to go fast, but at least the animations don’t look as weird.
Anything that can be emulated, which means basically 100% of the genre.
My problem is I don’t have a gamepad or know shit about setting up any of the emulation software. I actually did try to emulate Armored Core: For Answer and Verdict Day, but the first wouldn’t even start, and the second one doesn’t seem to recognize mouse input properly. I’ll probably have to wait until RPCS3 gets better with those games.
I actually did get that, but like I said in the OP, looking for mecha, not mech.
I did, that’s what got me hooked on playing mecha games right now. I’m just sad that Skells aren’t something you get earlier in the game. It’s a fantastic world and I fucking love exploring it. Also wish the combat was more fluid, rather than having to engage enemy by enemy in a seemingly turn based fashion. Still fantastic though, love the world, gameplay and music.

GuestEmulate any of the old SRW games with translations or get the new SRW on Steam. Or emulate any of the PS2/PS1 Armored Cores. Or emulate RAD, or Tech Romancer. There’s also Front Mission.

GuestEh, the Origin is great but it does change up a lot of stuff. Mostly character personalities than anything plot-important, but still.
It’s still not a bad option, though. If you can deal with the old budget animation, 0079 is worth watching. If it’s is too much for you, check out the movies. Mainline Gundam’s always been fairly big on that sorta thing, though it varies with the AUs.
Watch War in the Pocket for Christmas in a few months.Gundaminfo has the movie remakes of the original airing soon

GuestMechfag here.
Check out RPCS3 again for Armored Core: For Answer, there are people running multiplayer over simulated network matches literally as I make this post.
I would recommend Front Mission 3, Mechwarrior Online, Zone of the Enders 1 and 2, Frame Gride.Oh and emulate dude, it’s easy as fuck. Just look up a guide for each console’s emulator on YouTube and that’ll get it running no problem, for the ACFA multplayer I mentioned earlier there’s a discord where that’s happening at. Just look up Armored Core discord and you’ll find it.

GuestThe beginning is a bit slow and might drag a bit since it has loads of world building and slowly and carefully establishes the characters you will spend the next 80+ hours following, but once the story picks up it just never stops getting better and better.
Same thing with the combat, at the beginning it’s kinda bare bones, but as you play you unlock more and more weapons and skills until you have quite literally hundreds of different weapons/attacks at your disposal and can easily spend dozens of hours just experimenting with different setups and combos.
It gets insanely fast paced and if you play on Hard mode pretty difficult (has a video of a non-cannon extra mode with especially challenging fights). You will duck between missiles and parry melee hits while trying to lay into oftentimes extremely overpowered enemies as much as you can, it’s very addicting and satisfying as all hell once you start getting really into it.

GuestLegit some of the best cyberpunk I’ve read
It’s not the typical mecha warriors fighting each other in space shit you might be looking for but it’s super well done
I kinda got bored of the gameplay and just looked up the easiest way to cheese it because I was tired of dying and just wanted to read the story but I think there’s a lot of depth there if you can get into it-

GuestI don’t really get that to be honest, it’s not like there’s no stakes to those battles just because they are virtual or anything.
It’s cyberpunk instead of the more fantastical almost romantic scifi worlds Mecha stuff often has. Heavily inspired by Neuromancer, dark dystopian gritty scifi where the borders between the physical and virtual are very blurred.
Most people have brain implants and spend more of their time in cyberspace than the nearly ruined physical world that is full of despair and death, the virtual is just as real as the physical in that setting and getting shot down in combat can easily fry your brain.

GuestI played it and finished it. It feels like EDF except with robots basically. You play stages to unlock weapons and parts and use it to swap and upgrade your unit. It’s a fun mindless shooter and the story tries to take some elements of ace combat+muv luv but overall I had a good time. Definitely a 7/10 type of game that you’ll enjoy if you like mecha and like shooting hundreds and thousands of enemies.

GuestYour enjoyment of DXM is entirely dependent on how resistant you are to anime cliches.
The gothic lolita teenage sister who wanted to fuck her brother actively killed my enjoyment of the game, because I see this shit in every third anime I watch and it’s become soul-destroyingly boring.
