Yeah but then again artificial price bump on GPU with crypto diggers is somewhat stupid. Paying for GPU as much as for everything else combined (case, mobo, cpu, memory, cooling, etc) is kinda ridiculous. I’m sitting on 1060 for about three years now and I won’t be changing into anything else because when I’ll finally do that I’ll be swapping the whole case with everything inside (apart maybe from my storage/ssd’s) in year or two, maybe later. It’s really not though, especially if you look at what the MSRP was supposed to be at launch. The fact that there’s a manufacturing shortage for certain components does not mean that we’re getting a good deal, it’s actually the opposite. Buying a GPU new in this market is insane. Hell, even resale prices have skyrocketed.

You can find a cheap high-end gpu if you’re lucky and know where to look. My dad’s friend builds pcs, and needed cash for his family so he sold me his gaming rig cheap. Had a 3060 in it and after I priced everything in it the gpu only cost me $400

That’s what’s concerning. Acquiring everything and forcing those games into a subscription only service where the consumer doesn’t own anything. Obviously it won’t affect literally every game out there, but it would affect a good number of them. Corporations will always push for as much control as possible to strongarm consumers and maximize profit. M$ has been guilty of this numerous times.-

as for the acquisitions themselves i have no problem with them based on everything we know, which is that these studios were looking/open to be acquired e.g. obsidian straight up said they were looking for a publisher and turned down several other offers. double fine said they wanted the stability and used their extra funding to add bosses back into psychonauts 2 which were originally cut due to time and funding constraints. zenimax owner was also selling and they looked at several offers before choosing MS.
MS are doing this "play anywhere" approach so these games are guaranteed to be playable many ways. what would be concerning is if someone like sony were to be making acquisitions, because their philosophy is completely opposite to microsoft’s, which is to lock games to console.

they never will be because it’s impossible for any subscription service to do that unless they hold a monopoly over content, which is literally impossible in gaming. gaming is too split between hundreds of different publishers for that to happen. MS would have to get EA, Ubi, T2, THQ, KT, Capcom, Sqenix, Sony, Nintendo etc to sign up to gamepass for them to be able to force people into the service.

I got a cheap gaming laptop with a i5 and 1060 for like 400usd a couple of months ago second hand with upgraded 120hz panel ssd m2 and fresh windows installation absolutely nothing wrong with it and it was only 4 years old
