Am I seeing this right? Early Access since early 2019? Yikes.

They’ve been improving it the whole time, but I don’t get people’s hangup on the early access aspect. Released games aren’t any less buggy than unreleased

It’s mostly a fear of the dev taking the money and running

Because EA games get a pass for being shitty and buggy, despite taking money on the grounds that it’s "early access".
All they need to do, is push out minor updates every now and then. Best example: Space Engineers. Probably the most updated game on steam, but the initial version is barely different than the current version. Basically for years they’ve been giving very minor fixes on a regular basis, while introducing a new block or functionality every now and then, coasting by on a game that has over 5 years of development, yet feels like a game that has been in development for 8 months tops.
Look at Workers & Resources. It has over 2 years of development, closing in on 3 years. Does it look and feel like a game that has 3 years of development under the belt? For comparison: Cities: Skylines was greenlit by Paradox in 2013, and released in 2015, does it feel like there is one year worth more of development in Workers & Resources?
Factorio was in early access for 4 years, does it feel like it’s closing in on the complexity and depth of Factorio?
Sure, sometimes you get good projects in EA, but very often it’s just half finished stuff, that gets minor upgrades for years and eventually gets shit out with a: "Meh, good enough".

All this post says is that Early Access means people need to pay attention to what they’re buying. Same as they should be doing for any game that’s not labeled Early Access.

I’m not even sure what you’re trying to get at by lumping multiple games together. Each of those games is made by different studios with different level of technical experience and ability. Workers and Resources has improved a long way since it first came out, and the point of early access is that I could see what they wanted to do and pledge my financial support beforehand

Thishonestly looks like the shitty little copy & paste building cities you see in early 2000s flight sim games.

Goddamn I love seeing W&R threads on Ganker. It’s such a gem. I’ve been planning on dumping several hours into this weekend, haven’t played in 6 months and I know they have updated the shit out of it since then.

No, YOU give me some cool maps. I have Socialist Playground, Ideal Soviet Republic Terain, and Lyubinsk.

I need to start a new city now that they’ve added the underground

Yeah I saw the underground pipes and helicopter construction offices. Didn’t know about airplanes, not like I’ve ever made it that far lmao. The early start grind is always my favorite part.
