the shield mechanic is just rps. if you shield an attack the enemy can shield your follow-up then you can shield their follow-up, etc.
the chain gets broken when someone decides to either delay their follow-up, not do one at all, or do the un-shieldable moon follow-up -
Auto combos aren’t a problem if you aren’t a masher; reverse beat is fully intact and you can still chain 3x 5A and 2A. Shields might be a little iffy, but people are still trying to figure them out, and you can always just use the B+C follow up to nope out.

I don’t get salty about losing but generally don’t find it fun. I could enjoy fighting games if I was playing against someone my own skill level but constantly losing because it places me against someone way better isn’t fun in any capacity. It doesn’t help that you can’t bring up any opinions discussing fighting games unless you’re high ranked and players will just tell you to "Get good" instead of supporting new player friendly things.

basically you get locked out of the lower floors by winning, and only unlock them back after losing a lot in a row
the upper floors are all unlocked, so getting into tougher fights is always an option if you want to learn faster or there aren’t enough players of your current level

i find third strike to be a tad too deep and trying to learn it quite the bore. I just like doing random stuff and getting away with stupid shit like hitting multiple stomps in a row or doing flying chop directly into the ground and using hyper bomb whenever the opponent tries to punish it from afar.
I tried for around 2 years to get good at it, I even played a bunch of high ranked players, talked to them on their discord servers and in all honesty it was a miserable experience. I rather just stay a shitter having dumb fun.

I am referring exclusively to fightcade. the set up is incredibly simple and every rom there is pirated, fuck there’s even a script that downloads the games for you whenever you enter a lobby for that game. every VS game in there doesn’t even get close to sf3 nor the most played KOF games. Shit it even gives you your region discord servers for that game so you can find matches easily.

The set up is a little more difficult than just downloading a collection of zipfiles from a mega and putting them in a single directory so it filters smooth brains. Rollback support for those games also JUST got added so maybe the numbers will start going up more.

I play FighterZ, it’s the only fighting game I’m good at, and that’s mostly because the combos and controls are way simpler. I tried getting into SFV, Strive and UMvC3 but I dropped them fast bcuz I unironically couldn’t do most combos nor the shoryuken motion, I just found it too hard and complicated at times. FighterZ is just more fun to me even if the online is crap and its full of stupid masher players, it also has Captain Ginyu, Baby Vegeta and Goku Black in it (my main team) so it’s a based game too.

Because fighting game devs still make the games with the arcade stick in mind even if arcades have been fucking dead since the 90s and everybody plays on console/pc now. Any character that revolves around the qcf motion will eventually break your pad.It’s not like motion inputs are hard. They aren’t. It’s the fact that every fighting game dev still makes their games with the arcade stick button layout in mind, instead of actually exploring and developing new ideas around "modern" controllers. That’s the primary reason why the genre has been stale since the late 90s.

I suck at them and they’re not in my sphere of interests.
However, I do think mastering all combos, hit boxes and tricks to be very interesting. Watching some Professional Players fight really made me realize how technical these games can be and how reflexes are required too.
But, I prefer sim-racing, which can also be very technical (learning to tune a suspension for example) and have the benefit of having real life applications. I will never be able to do a hadoken but I can counter-steer when needed.
BTW, fighting games tend to be very tense and nervous and this is not what I’m looking for. Racing forces you to relax, focus and be smooth with control inputs.

I used to play Xrd a lot and played with the Ganker thread a bunch for like a year. I was thinking of getting Strive but my PC has become shit. I couldn’t even play DBFZ without stutters. By the time I can get parts I think my interest will have waned again.

The mathematically most effective mixup is threatening the mixup exactly once and then spamming the better combo sequence for the rest of the match. Once you get good enough at fighting games it reverts to spamming the one move.

This, the game is dead, it takes upwards of 40 min just to find a single game and 9 times out of 10 they dont accept or end up rage quitting half way through.

Not autistic enough to commit to the genre. I hate the idea of investing in all of this time for one game and then a new games comes out which causes the community from my game to migrate over to the new game while my game is left with few people who actually cared about the game or just flat out dies.
