melanoid I played large parts of PS1 IS at 300 FPS just mashing buttons like a retard because it pretty much did not matter what you did, at all. It’s the absolute most braindead Persona game of them all. Even 1 had some highlights like some incubi or whatever charming your entire part and raping you in the process during your first turn.
EP was at least much less button mashy because they probably realized they were retarded in IS and actually added enemies with different reflects early on, which basically meant you are going to die if you mash like a retard.-

I think revelations makes the encounter rate less AIDS and gives you more exp which the psp version doesn’t do so I’m guessing no

Revelations Persona actually gimped you severely as they didn’t increase the money or item drops so you actually had to grind even longer than in the original version of the game. Whenever I replayed it I just hacked max money in because fuck that.

money isnt that big of an issue in Rev though, items drop 90% of the time and you can just sell them, the only thing you should be really buying is armor since weapons are from enemies only

Mark unironically looks better as a blackie and Elly looks better blonde, to be honest. Original mark looks like garbage, and original Elly is just kinda boring more than anything else. Not to say they make any sense whatsoever setting wise, it was a retarded choice by the localization team. Still, visually they were better.

Sorry. She just really doesn’t come off as noteworthy as she is supposed to be compared to the rest of the cast when she just has an everyday japanesse girl look to herself.
Obviously that’s the whole stigma japanesse girls have to undergo to begin with and might even be an accurate part to her character being obsessed with standing out and being prettier than the rest since you can put twenty asian women in one room and lose your own child amongst them, but strictly speaking from an aesthetic point she just comes off better blonde to me. Aryan beauty standards are hard to shake off.

The thing with the original localization is that they were trying their damndest to make it Not Japan despite you know, Japanese high school, shrines, etc. Basically doing what Phoenix Wright did years before he was a thing. They didn’t even fully commit to it as Yuki and several other characters weren’t modified to make them less Japanese.

the revelations version is actually alot of fun compared to the PSP port if you can get past the 4kids translation and the item management

The PSP version replacing almost all the music was bad, but the worst part is that they didn’t even have enough new music to replace everything they took out. Like.. why just leave in the old tracks instead of repeating the new music over and over?

That reminds me that P1 had the best Velvet Room and Persona creating cutscene in the series. That chaotic music with the blowing wind while the two cards fuse into a Persona and Igor makes a phone call followed by the calm music while the new Persona greets you was so nice. I also missed how Personas had wills of their own in the first two games compared to 3 and 4 as sometimes one will pop out during negotiations and ask it’s kin to cooperate and they’ll happily give you their cards/items.

As a p4 fan I indeed see the p3 fans as edgy kids,I don’t hate P5 though. Not that I don’t want to know about P1 and p2, but it’s hard to get into p2 because of its pace and people keep saying that P1 is a bad game.

This. I’ve never really understood at all the reputation of P3 characters being edgy. It’s always confused me more than anything because of how upbeat and energetic most of the cast tends to be. I’m assuming the design of the MC is what leads people to assume that? Because I can’t think of anything about Yukari, Junpei, Mitsuru, Akihiko, or any of the other characters that would come off as remotely edgy.-
I mean hell, you have a dog as a party member. Not a magical talking bear or a cartoon cat, just a dog. Super edgy puppy I guess.

Everything with a hint of maturity or seriety in a game is edgy for these people. If characters don’t quip or have witty retorts at bad things happening, the characters are trying too hard.

I didn’t like how it threw out most aspects of the first two games but I still had fun with it. My biggest bitch about P3 was Shadows as enemies instead of gods/monsters/etc. and no negotiations.

P3 introduced the cringe but kept the gritty and edgelordliness mixed with cosmic horror. It kept in line with Persona expectations of doing something weird/new every time a new game came out.
P4 and P5 get shit because after they hit popularity with P3, they simply stopped trying and regurgitated the same effortless shit over and over and over without even bothering to change the angle, formula, characters or setting in any way or angle, while simultaneously cutting down on everything that still gave the setting a semblance of seriety in flavour of teenage angst.-

I like it more than 4 and 5, even though it’s kinda flawed. It felt like it was trying different things, they had an interesting theme with memento mori and it feels like everything you do in the game relates to it. I basically consider it to be a different, unrelated thing to 1 and 2 though, even if it references things like Nanjo and Nyx.
4 and 5 were just kind of uninteresting to me, and I’ve never finished 5. I just want to go to dungeons and shoot demons, not go through hours of visual novel/social simulation crap. I’m the kind of person who enjoyed The Answer, because it was basically P3 with that crap cut out.
