it's not morally wrong or anything
it's just that games made with AI tend to be bad
the only one I've enjoyed was the roottrees are dead and it didn't really need art in the first place

More like in the future once UE6, or a UE competitor comes out that uses natural language for code.

If you're not willing to put in actual effort, it's not your dream. And if you didn't put in effort and took the easy way, I'm not going to give you my money.

So where exactly is the line anon?
We did not always have game engines or even compilers.
You could have a coder using AI art or an artist using AI code. What's the issue?
A game of AAA caliber is astronomically hard for one soul.

Back then game devs put in genuine effort and lovingly crafted their games, that's why they were so good. And they had to work with technological limitations and do shit that wasn't tried in gaming before, not just following "how to do this thing" tutorials and copying code. Meanwhile today gaming is full of hacks that don't know how to make games, don't understand coding, art direction or anything .They just rely on automated tools, copy-pasted code and just grabbing random assets to throw in without much consideration. That's why games suck so much dick. One good example is how the devs for Master of Magic went through all the trouble of making such a cool game for the DOS operating system, then the hacks making the "remake" said they won't put in this like floating castles because "we don't know how lol" while devs all the way back in the 90's had no issue

If you want to take the easy way out ant have the computer do all the work for you instead of actually putting in genuine effort and doing shit yourself, you're a hack. You don't deserve my attention or money.
        >A game of AAA caliber is astronomically hard for one soul.
Wow, really? Something that involves large teams, a big budget and years of work is hard for one guy? Imagine that.

Yeah, so, seems like you love sucking corporate dick good if you think indies do not deserve to make big games.
Sad you really cannot see how further streamlining and democratizing the arts and game development is somehow bad.
Yeah, go into a cave and smear your own shit on a stone to make "art" if you hate technology so much.

No, indies need to be realistic. Indies aren't supposed to make "AAA games", indies are supposed to make cool little games that offer interesting ideas and fill various niches (and aren't just constant metroidvania or roguelike slop).

            [...]
You do not know me at all but make so many assumptions based on my opinion on AI.
You are clearly guided by your emotions and should kindly frick off.
Your opinion is irrelevant at this point.

If you want to have an ego, you first need something to justify it.

If you learn2code properly you have a (slim) chance of making a good game eventually.
If you rely on the AI crutch you'll never get past "hello world"-tier projects plagued by bugs you won't ever understand.

Using AI is more time consuming than you think it is. Just go find pre-existing assets that are shared for free, and use them for the bulk of your game.

It's not bad really, some buttholes among the artist community may be butthurt that you removed a potential commission from the pool of work but it's not like you had the money to pay for one in the first place, and (minus the effort) at another time you might have just picked up the skills to make assets yourself; that also wouldn't have converted to commissions obviously. Wrangling AI to consistently make what you want it to do is sort of a skill on its own as well.

You'll just have a game with AI assets, which at this point in time I don't believe will create a cohesive library of images/sounds that totally match each other but you get what you pay for, and it's not like there aren't shit artists out there too

Because "automation" in something that requires passion, creativity and attention to detail to be genuinely good is heresy. Hacks like you will never understand this.

Treat it the same way you'd treat asset packs, clip art, royalty free images and pre made game systems
A good game could make use of these things, but the more of it you use the worse the game will be, not necessarily just because these things themselves are bad but because the more the devs make use of it the more it would seem they don't actually care about the game
