CRTs are hard to get. What's the best option for getting CRT effects on various games?

CRTs are hard to get.

What's the best option for getting CRT effects on various games? Retroarch shaders for emulators, and Reshade for everything else?

Does anyone have any amazing CRT filters?

What performance impact do CRT filters have on modern games? I.e what would be the hit of applying one to Cyberpunk?

They aren't that hard to get, you just have to believe in yourself and put in a days effort. You'll come home with your dream 25"+ component equipped CRT that'll make all your games look and play like heaven and sound great too.

Meet some old people, they're usually lonely and tend to have old tech they don't want. Keep mentioning their TV of you want it and eventually they'll let you have it. Feel free to ghost after you get what you want.

How are they hard to get? Just go on craigslist or offerup. Old people usually sell this shit without noticing how much they are getting rid of. Retrogays are the cancer buying them up and reselling at high prices. I also see retrogay store owners visiting goodwill/thrift stores every day in the morning to resell old crap. Frick these people.

Yeah I enjoyed retro collecting in the early 2000s, it pretty quickly went to shit. I don't bother anymore, haven't for over a decade probably.

I'm more curious about the frame time implication. Emulators already have a lot of delay.

a bad shader would ruin your fps anyways and cause slow down to a point where sound would be laggy anyways
so unless your computer is hot dog shit it doesnt really matter
but if you really want to know what the best shader is
NTSC Crt-royale which you can find in the presets folder

I've just been using CRT-Royale, but I've noticed watching videos that it's not quite right on stuff like Sonic.

Are shaders really that heavy? Damn.

Normal CRT-Royale isn't the same as ntsc crt-royale
CRT-Royale only emulates the actual crt
ntsc emulates the signal blur and color bleeding

it's rare for someone to attempt and sell a CRT because they are legitimate e-waste though you can find a mountain of them at the local dump anywhere in the world.

and you wouldn't even take one for free
you can get the same effect using a crt shader through retroarch and a decent fricking tv

Crts aren't hard to get. Your problem is there's a ton of fricking dogshit crts out there. The professional video editing crts that actually look good are hard to get.

most pvms are shit because the TVL is so high that in interlaced mode you can notice a severe flicker, not to mention most were run into the ground with very long hours

all to get an unnatural line separation

what you want is a low hour late-model regular tv, ideally something small that you can carry yourself, could even just have composite seriously it looks good on a crt

this. the whole professional crt thing is on a whole different tier of meme compared to just getting a standard crt. I have a small 13" or so made in 2004 that looks great, and only has composite inputs. unless youre an absolute enthusiast who is planning on using it ALL the time, there is no reason to shell how hundreds of dollars for a slightly better picture. especially if its a small size anyways

    >search crt on craigslist
    >bunch of listings from soi ridden millennials talking about good it is for retro gayming
    >charging 10x their value and wont help you lift the tv if its heavy
    >search old tv on craigslist
    >bunch of listings from old, retired boomers cleaning their garages
    >free, or super cheap. will also help you carry it to your car
    really not that hard
