I'm I the only one who only played and still plays hostage maps? It's not that the hostages are much funner than defusal, I just like the maps way way more. More cramped hallways, corridors, rooms, more jank due to less popularity so you could do some weird shit sometimes etc. Bomb maps just feel like the same open shit all the time.
Pic is my happy place. Map was never popular I don't think, but I really liked it.
I think hostage map are just flawed in design by following the same design principles as defusion maps. Hostage maps should be open and wide maps with a single building as focus and not corridors or multiple objects in a lane design. Your screen is a good example. T's should spawn in the house in the middle. CT's around it trying to fall in and extract the hostage. Add night time and ct exclusive nvg's.

I know this site is a circlejerk for muh nostalgia and soul but can we all agree that these maps just plain sucked and we played them because we were dumb kids? They were horribly unbalanced and people stopped playing them for a good reason. Still love de_rats tho

You didnt play online back then. Asssult was popualr back when normal people played it. Not those addicted pros.
cs assault being "unbalanced" made it more fun for when your team had coordination since you can smoke, wallbang and ventjump your way in to compensate for the defender advantage
>It was very fun to catch CT cramped in the vent.
I used to love to rush it with smoke and a jump off the ladder, usually getting into the upper vent before any T got in position and then just wait for an opportune time to re-enact boondock saints

Used to run a zombie mod server on my computer. Would be full 24/7. I was like a kid. Remember HLDS crashing for no fricking reason every few hours. Went out with my parents one night, came back to a crashed HLDS and like 200 skype messages lmao.
Friend in school was into making maps, would make custom maps as well. I remember I stopped the server, but a year later I checked what's going on in the scene, and I remember seeing my friend's maps on other servers. He said he never uploaded them. Glad to see that part living on beyond whatever I had running on my shitty pc.
>wanna post picture of the Multi Theft Auto San Andreas map I used to play all the time >fricking no one even has a copy of the map for download anywhere >server that used to host it is long dead now >clan running the server is gone too
STH_Pueblo, I'll always remember you.
then move to detroit or whatever warehouse shit place instead of crying and moaning like some moron
"This is the only crate on this map"
that eagle circling above has haunted me all these years, there are no pictures online of it

Who gives a shit? This moronic "duh it has competitive" mindset is what killed so many genres

Is assault the most t imbalanced "regular" map?

i dont think the map had any lighting baked in (good old shitty custom maps)

CS needs to be sterile and noninteractive as much as possible to better facilitate MLG BIG BOY GAMING.

Goldsorce engine has one of the most esthetically pleasing visuals ever
A lot of games of that era did. It's simply an effect of color accentuation due to low textures and not a lot of details.
I miss grabbing the flag after jumping out of a Shrike at full afterburner.
