I tried hard to get into xb1 because I thought the world and story was pretty interesting but the gameplay was dogshit. No way in hell would I ever be able to get into 2 and 3.
Most of the game is spent in the chain attack menu anyways, which has no timers or button prompts.
>hit boss for 30 seconds, taking off 20% of its HP >chain attack charged >spend the next ten minutes inputting orders >deal 20 million damage, overkilling the boss
>Damage caps at a number with multiple 9s instead of multiple 0s because 9 is bigger than 0
Like, why not just cap at 1,000,000 instead of 999,999? Why do we have such retarded monkey brains.
Mostly it's a holdover from the 16 bit era where it wasn't worth the effort to program in the 5th digit in the damage numbers so they capped it at 9,999. for anything higher than that it's usually just following convention.
What's a better system? A health pool, where you die if you take too much damage, or a number of lives, where one hit kills you, if you don't have a shield or some powerup?
i like seeing damage numbers, but i hate seeing triple and quadruple digits like somehow seeing bigger numbers is more satisfying for the average monkeybrain. pinball is the worst, but destiny is especially bad as a FPS because the damage numbers are higher when your power level is higher, despite the power level being relative to that of your enemy (and being a seasonal grind-facilitating gatekeep)
Video games should expose as much of the used background data, calculations and formulas as possible. I don't give a shit about """immersion""", I always know I'm playing a video game and want to always have all available data visible to optimize everything I can.
>game gives you damage numbers >game gives you a number for your health >game gives you and the enemies/bosses healthbars >game does NOT give you numbers for enemy/boss health
TO WHAT END
based. monhun was good when all of that shit was invisible and you had to actually look at the fucking monster to know if you weren't playing like a retard
>NOOOOO don't show me I'm playing suboptimally I want to never improve NOOOOO
have a nice day
Monster hunter didn't need damage numbers. The feel of the weapon upon impact already gave you enough intel. have a nice day
so turn them off you crybaby bitch
>damage numbers are big numbers just to give retard dopamine hits
>multi hit attacks don't have an additional number display to tell you the total damage it did
which one do you prefer
>each hit has it's own separate number
>each hit visually adds on to the original number until the final total is reached
>each hit displays the full, unaltered damage formula of the game complete with every possible variable
but big number make dopamine go up
>damage
Luck points.
*sucks tongue*
DAMAGE NUMBERS
PLEEEASE
I BEG YOU
>FPS
>with healthbars
It's a videogame, damage numbers exist whether you see them or not.
>The damage numbers are grossly inflated and stylized
>eyecancer visual effects
>make dopamine go brrrr even if you're playing like shit
>Nintemorons will play this dogshit and exclaim yo this gameplay FIRE
>they removed the dancing minigame, semen meter, and fingerless glove meter
Damn casualized games
Extella tier UI

>muh UI
Xenoblade isn't an actual ARPG anyway, the UI is where the gameplay is actually happening, kinda like turn-based games
Most of the game is spent in the chain attack menu anyways, which has no timers or button prompts.
>hit boss for 30 seconds, taking off 20% of its HP

>spend the next ten minutes inputting orders

Almost every single game uses damage numbers, some games just leave them invisible
>damage numbers go higher than 4 digits
3 to 4 digit damage numbers is the perfect scale
>damage numbers are greater than 1
Armor?
>Damage caps at a number with multiple 9s instead of multiple 0s because 9 is bigger than 0

Taking damage progressively removes clothing until you're down to skin, in which case you die in one hit unless you find more clothes
Sir Arthur has been slaying in his underwear for decades.
Health pool where losing half of your current HP will cause you to die.
HP doesn't work in irl. It's about armor and buffs.

It just makes my brain feels good.

ok that re2 pic made me chuckle
>game gives you damage numbers
>game gives you a number for your health
>game gives you and the enemies/bosses healthbars
>game does NOT give you numbers for enemy/boss health
TO WHAT END
>its good when they hidden
consolecuck located
>unnecessary multi-hit attack like Chinese firecracker
I know longsword has always been gay in Monster Hunter but this.
based. monhun was good when all of that shit was invisible and you had to actually look at the fucking monster to know if you weren't playing like a retard
