yeah that's the point at first
you can make cheese comps if you don't want to have fun but should experiment and get used to loss
also 'heroes' means 'meat' and 'dungeon' means 'grinder'; get used to it
Don't enable the DLC's in your game until you're ready, you can do it mid playthrough
Too late for that
Then I hope you're lucky
is that supposed to be a gearshift pattern?
The crimson curse is pretty bullshit at the start of the game.
Yeah, it's mostly just annoying. If you don't interact with any part of it, you just get the continual "town is abuzz!" event that drowns out anything else but no random CC enemies in dungeons. As soon as you clear the first courtyard though, you now have to deal with the crimson curse constantly until you finish out the final CC area. It's a huge pain in the ass on top of everything else going on because it rapidly becomes overwhelming and dominates the entire meta of the game.
Just gather every Blood bottle or build the Vineyard or w/e it's called.
if you just started I suggest you to make a few runs sending a "suicide squad", just send them to gather money and resources without any provision, make sure that at least one survives, retreat them from the dungeon and then lay them off. Rinse and repeat.
Certified ancestor moment

BACK TO THE PIT
>You're meant to lose heroes!!!!
<Except if you do lose heroes it sets you back extremely far and you end up treading water
Darkest Dungeon really is fun but I hate how the game can just ruin your afternoon with one or two crits
It makes going back out into dungeons just dreadful
is this game better than the extremely boring Slay the Spire?
They are not really comparable.
What are you, gay? It's not even that hard.
Post play time
Never played this and it’s on gamepass
What should I expect? Is it fun or will I kms over rage?
very frustrating at first but it's a fricking blast. it's one of those games you'll either love and play forever or hate and barely touch.
The game's amazing but you will prolly get filtered if you're a babby gaymer.
Expect some grind on your 1st playthrough if you're not cheating (i.e. reading wiki strats). Tho you can always play it on Easy to reduce some grind.
>Playing with the Crimson Court
Yeah I didn't even bother to ever buy that DLC. Feels good bruh
play Iratus instead
play both
then stack werewolves and abominations
I did, it's ok but inferior to DD. I don't really like the artstyle and animations - they remind me of some cheap mobile game.
Hamlet has some of the best ‘’horrific things are going outside but you need a a drink and go to the warm inn to get one with the lads’’ feel.
Only topped by darkwood
It took me a whole year to beat the base game but it was entirely worth it. Leper killing the final boss with a crazy maximum crit was one of the most heroic moments I've ever experienced in a game.
You just wait until you find out how the end game works.
What are the most kino mods? Bonus points for those that got a background comic.
I was so excited for this game when I thought it was an rpg. I hate roguelikes.
Will this board ever stop being filtered by this game?
Yeah. On May 9th when 2 comes out on Steam.
No, Ganker is actually full of poorgays who are bad at video games hence the threads about souls/nioh/FTL/DD etc. full of seething or crying about "muh rng".
I am not fricking a demon so get outta here Slaanesh
I need new enemies
NOOOOOOOOOOW

I tried to cheat the game by farming a perfect roster of heroes. Then after 10a if hours getting that petfect roster I entered the darkest dungeon and learned, to my dismay, that these homosexuals can only enter the darkest dungeon once. I turned off my switch and never touched the game again.
>tried to cheat the game by farming a perfect roster of heroes
>Then after 10a if hours getting that petfect roster I entered the darkest dungeon
HA! That's what you get for being a cheating cheater.
They are all flesh to be sacrificed anon.
Hah, fricking moron
DD is considerably harder than the entire rest of the game. Playing the game on Bloodmoon blind, I lost 3 separate runs in the darkest dungeon.
Call me a slowpoke but I only finally checked out the "sequel" in Steam's event now that it has a demo. And what the hell happened? Why did it become a roguelite(like?) now? Where is the crusader. Why is it bootleg Slay the Spire?
I remember back then people envisioned a sequel for this to be double down on the xcom-esque qualities of the first game to turn it into a full blown tactics title with an extra dimension of movement and positioning.
The monster designs are cool Atleast
>And what the hell happened? Why did it become a roguelite(like?) now?
>Why is it bootleg Slay the Spire?
The devs said they don't wan't to make the same game but improved. The sequel is not meant to replace DD1.
>crusader
Missing for now (the EA has fewer characters, it was the same for DD1).
>The devs said they don't wan't to make the same game but improved
But why? There was so many fricking things they could still improve upon in the first game. Barely scratched the surface of potential mechanics and complexities to explore.
It's why people tend to look forward to sequels because they tend to improve a ton on the first game.
>But why?
Like I said, the sequel is not meant to replace DD1. I guess their idea was to "cultivate" two, semi-separate fanbases.
the problem is that the devs are fricking morons and called it Darkest Dungeon TWO
if they just called it a spinoff but with a DD brand then they'd have gotten away with it scotfree
Ehh, making a spin-off directly after DD1 may have roused a crowd like
>WTFFFFFFFFF REDHOOK moronS
>WHERE'S DARKEST DUNGEON 2???
>NOBODY WANTS A SPIN-OFF
>MAKE A PROPER GAME
There'd be screeching no matter what, you can't please everyone.
I don't mind the different formula, that's not really an issue. The problem is the game's very gutted in comparison to DD1 - it's supposed to be launching soon and I kinda doubt they're hiding an absolutely massive update in their sleeves.
i fricking guarantee you the entire fanbase would be way more receptive to this game if it didnt have a 2
sure therell be Black folk seething that its not a sequel but at least therell be WAY less b***hing and comparisons between this and the first game
they could even call it a "break" or some "experimentation" using a less commitment heavy spinoff to ease people in
this all could have been avoided but they had to add in the 2 so now its a complete failure in marketing
>so now its a complete failure in marketing
IMO that's mostly to do with Ebin. I fully suspect the game to blow up massively when it launches on Steam, even if the sequel is clearly inferior to DD1.
Yeah they fricked it trying to do something different and it isn't what people wanted. Meanwhile, modders are making a DD 1.5 themselves.
Game has beautiful art, beautiful atmosphere, but fails to be fun. It feels like a chore. And the boss fights suck.
Play on Easy then. Or, if that's still not enough, download any of the gorillion cheat mods from the Workshop.
>putting the game for months with a number of level 5s
>come back months later
>all the level 5s died on first quest
