Nah, it's got a weird half assed RPG system, an enormous chunk of KAKAROT is spent playing as NOT KAKAROT
and the dlc is most of the decent content (still not great, but decent)
For the like $10 you can get it for, totally worth, you can get around 6-8 hours of fun, excluding the grind bullshit, for that price.

It sucks because the idea of an adventure game where you play through Goku's life sounds like a fun change of pace compared to the usual fighting game fare. But from what I've seen, gameplay mostly ranges from
      >unity asset flip tech demo
      To
      >literal Superman 64 ring race

It really sucks how out of 35 years of DragginBallz games, the number of games actually worth playing can be counted on one hand with fingers to spare.

The DLC only covers small arcs. You're probably getting Super Broly, Super Hero, and some one-off like Champa's Tournament or Plan to Eradicate teh Saiyans.

          Anonymous

You're overestimating how long Super and GT arcs are, it wouldn't be hard to cover them in DLCs. Goku Black is just Goku and Vegeta constantly getting their asses kicked by Zamasu while jumping back and forth through time, so it would go by a lot quicker in a game than in the anime and ToP is also just non-stop fights. GT's longest arc is Baby and if they did DLC for it, they'd probably just summarize the beginning and officially start after Goku and team get back to Earth and finds out everyone is possessed by Baby. There's not much after that besides Goku regrowing his tail and turning Super Saiyan 4, so it'd be perfect size for a DLC.

They already did BoG and RoF as DLC and the History of Trunks DLC also included Super's addition to Trunks' story where he stops Buu and Dabura. Super is already included unless you want to be one of those people that cope and say BoG and RoF don't count because they were technically Z movies.

why didnt they just make a game per series? now it wouldnt make sense to make a super game

No, it's the jank from Xenoverse combined with an empty world where mkbs give you 2% exp and the devs lost interest in it at around the Ginyu point. They hired the guys known for flashy special moves and cutscenes and yet this is just uninspired.
Just play Legacy of Goku 2 and 3 if you want a DBZ adventure.

It's fun, but the gameplay is shallow. It's best feature is that it turns the budget way the frick up whenever one of the 'iconic moments' shows up and it might have some of the best renditions of (your favorite moment here).

It also bothers to fill in some plotholes and adds some depth. There's some side-quests explaining what Launch is up to for example, and there's a nice moment where 16 and Gohan go to deal with some poachers and they talk about how much they love animals. It remembers android 11 exists as well, it's got a lot of good details in there. Personally I think it's fun to frick around in the open world, too, but characters tend to talk too much in some areas. The amount of times Piccolo audibly proclaims how interesting this fricking bridge is is way too many.

The Vegito vs Buu scenes are fricking insane, if the rest of the game was even close to that quality it would be a masterpiece.

when it wants to that is
      >high quality cutscene for imperfect cell transformation
      >in-game pre-hashed animations cutscene for perfect cell transformation
      >completely cuts vegeta's final flash vs cell

The Kamehameha vs Galick Gun beam struggle was fricking trash. The gameplay before it has you beating up Vegeta and you end it the fight fully clothed. The cutscene transition has you all worn out and clothes torn. It then rushes through the beam struggle event. The anime definitely padded it the frick out, but even the manga didn't feel this fast. There were entire pages and huge panels dedicated to it. The tension isn't there when they just blow past it here.
I would have made that segment a playable section with some sort of meter management and button mashing. Kind of like an arcade fishing game. The Great Ape section right after it also fricking sucked. It doesn't do anything different gameplay wise, it's just another slugfest section. Could have been a cool one off chase section where you try to hide and escape.
This entire game is just a giant let down.

Nope, the combat is one of the worst of DB games.
They did a great job including all the story bits, but the combat is so fricking watered down, and the walk and talk at a snails pace with NPC is horrible. I'm pretty sure you can't even just run ahead and afk you have to stay within 5 feet of them or they won't move and you can't progress.

It's fine. It's up there among Cyberconnect2's other video games. The combat in normal is somewhat braindead but that's fine because they were aiming for newcomers probably. There's no reason to grind side quests other than for completion. The items they give don't affect your stats too much. The community emblem is also lacking and possibly one of the most useless mechanics I've ever encountered. It's fun to match them based on their relationships though. They probably never tested the combat too much because some moves are broken. The cutscenes are great, however. It's very fateful to the manga and trimmed almost all of the shitty anime-only scenes. If you ask me "Hey anon I want to watch DBZ anime where do I start?" I'd point them to this game instead. Overall I'd give it a 7.5/10.

    t. finished the game in hard with no healing items and emblems.

The gameplay is boring and very repetitive. Enemy encounters are total ass too.
    >see something on the overworld you want to collect
    >there's an enemy near it
    >have to waste a minute mashing buttons fighting the enemy before you can pick it up
    >if the fight took you far enough from their spawn point they'll respawn and rush at you again before you can get the item
    >even if you're overpowered and can instakill them by dashing they'll immediately respawn anyway
    So fricking annoying.

It's sad because the idea is so incredible. Am open world action RPG going through the DB/DBZ story. But the game isnt that fun. The combat system isn't that fun. There's not much to do besides the battles. You collect orbs and can collect shit to cook/craft and that's basically it? Cutscenes are cool. I was so excited from the first trailer but actually playing it is just meh. I did beat the game and all the dlc though I'm just that much of a DB fan.

The BoG and RF DLC are easily the worst ones. The other ones are decent. Was surprised by the Future Trunks one going on to adapt part of the Super manga; figured it would have ended at him killing his timeline's Cell.

Unless you're just itching for more Kakarot after finishing it, it's barely okay. Mix of regular and ground combat but you're not switching mid-fight. I would complain that it's short but all of this game's DLC is hella short.

This game technically doesn't touch anything from Super outside of part of the Future Trunks DLC covering his fight against Dabura and Babidi as it was portrayed in the Super manga. BoG and RF were originally cons idered DBZ before Super did worse adaptations of them. They even adapted the original Bardock special as a DLC episode, ignoring the "canon" Bardock seen in Super Broly.

They already did BoG and RoF as DLC and the History of Trunks DLC also included Super's addition to Trunks' story where he stops Buu and Dabura.
